The study design is very poor, with no mention of the statistical methods which they have used to come to such conclusions.The claimed research findings may just be simply an accurate measures of the prevailing bias. Period
sinkhole:
the equipments used in that research include petri dish, and one old microscope like that.
Methodology: the rat semen was collected in a petri dish and microscope used to count the number of spermatozoa present;
The back of the agbalumo tree was soaked in alcohol;
After about two days, the alcohol extract was introduced, two drops, into the petri dish with specimen;
After about one hour, the spermatozoa were counted again;
The number of spermatozoa was found to have decreased.
Conclusion: Agbalumo causes infertility grin

Read the research extracts and soon as I saw all were conducted by scientists in Nigerian higher inatitutions,I started having doubts.
First,in their more or less hurried research,there was even one study group that found spermatogenesis was even increased.
Meanwhile,no human study has even been done,just a study on rats,by Nigerian scientists using the science equipment they use here.
When a proper research is done using up to date scientific tools and methods,then any research finding on agbalumo can be discussed.

Can you keep your mouth quiet and stop giving opinion on what's not your area of expertise. It is standard practice in research to use mouse for experimental studies by medical and pharmaceutical industry. It's usually the first step before human or apes based experiments. And not all research studies can be done with human as test subject. For this kind of studies, the use apes (chimpanzees, gorilla, etc). Or can you submit yourself for research that administer samples that could cause infertility.

And this study says it's the root extract that can cause infertility, not the fruit many people eat.

Sorry the white man has helped you loose confidence in people of your kind. And how can you have confidence in yourself or how will others trust the work of your own hands?

This research did not use the fruit Agbalumo but it used the bark of the root of the plant. You should only be worried if you use the root. Until another find the same result with the fruit.

It's written clearly in the post. Why can't you all see that.

Without looking far, agbalumo has been eating by our elders for decades if not centuries and they never had or tied it to any such ridiculous assertions. So how do a bunch of in experienced scientists with no profound research work to their name get such ridiculous claims from? Seems they have no better things to do.

Meanwhile, do note too that such experiments aren't carried out on humans. Animals are usually used and the outcome bus expected to he same on humans.

Use your head bro.

You are typing with technology conceived by the whites.

Virtually all the aspects of your life is guided by the practice gotten from the Western countries.

You are addressing me in English. Is English your mother tongue?

When you fall sick you rush to the hospital to take treatments that have seen the light of day due to researches conducted by these same white people.

Your wife wants to give birth, you rush her to the hospital into the hands of western trained nurses and doctors, not to a herbalist in your village. Please spare me the crap.

What has scientific research got to do with your culture?

What has the discovered results on the potential harmful substance in the fruit got to do with your traditional clothes, language and other native foods you eat?

Aren't there other potentially harmful fruits in existence in the western countries?

I don't know the point you're trying to make here.

That you want to preserve your culture shouldn't make you plant your head in the sand like an ostrich.

You love your culture so much, then start by ditching English language cos I know it isn't part of your culture.

Your only emphasising on speaking English. Speaking English language is just means of effective communication. My salient point is that you reason before swallowing anything from a stranger. "He whom listen, controls your life"

Go back to the post you quoted and read it very very slowly. Take about 24 hrs to mediate on it and digest it properly, then come back to respond.

Thank you.

Our forefathers who are this fruit were very fertile to the extent of marrying more than two wives. I think there is need for extensive investigation for this study

Nonsense.
Even drugs are tested on humans before being approved for registration.Its called human trial.
The way this kind of study is carried out in normal climes is that there is a case control after the rat study.
Humans are divided into 2 groups,those u give your test material to(in this case the agbalumo bark or extract) and another group u don't give.Both are followed for some years,ensuring they follow almost similar food and environmental conditions.
After that you now run your test again or you run it yearly for some years.Only then do u come up with a result and theory that other scientists then also carry out to confirm it before it's stated and approved as a scientific fact.
Here no human trial has been done and don't be surprised this rat study was done over just 2months.
They should go with their research because evidence based reports has shown no decrease in fertility.
If proper research is done,don't be surprised to even find agbalumo enhances fertility.
How did the world come to accept that eating of yam boosts multiple birth, particularly twins in Nigeria couples?
They followed Yoruba couples for some years and found that those that eat a lot of yam had increased incidents of conceiving twins compared to others,other conditions in same environment being almost same.
It was then narrowed down to the difference in yam intake.
That's a proper research done over some years,not this bull crap.
