Hello friends,
Please how does the common law partner works, how do I prove my GF is a common law partner.

Thanks
Many people in Nigeria have gotten PPR through that...

show evidence that you've been living together and doing things together like rental agreements in both your names, bank accounts and other documents bearing same address, joint investments, pictures and all..

Just prove that you've been living as couples would.

I don't believe we have common law partnership under the law in Nigeria. I maybe wrong but I think the law only recognizes traditional and Court/Chruch/Mosque wedding. If that's the case, it's not something you can prove. Someone that knows more about this should add their voice though
The operate based on their own law not Nigerian law.. we were here when even common law lesbian partners got PPR last year..

I remember the story too. Whatever you claim to be, prove it and probably AVO might call for interview.

Good afternoon, please I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. Does he need to get a letter of indebtedness from the bank he currently uses even though he doesn’t have his pof in a bank ? He already has a letter from Stanbic Asset Management and he is wondering if the letter of indebtedness from his bank is still necessary. Thanks

Thanks for your response, we currently both live in Nigeria but plan to relocate together, do i need to provide any legal document as applicable in Nigerian law?

It depends if it’s a document that can get your application canceled during R10(completeness check) which occurs before biometric.

Its a visa stamp that doesn’t look legible

You can send it before biometrics just to be on the safe side.

Hello All. I Just want to be sure that I picked the right NOC for my job role. I'm a chartered accountant with a bachelor's degree but my job responsibilities align more with NOC 1311 than NOC 1111. Hope this wouldn't be an issue as the minimum qualification for NOC 1311 is lower( high school degree). Please see responsibilities as stated on my reference letter.
• Ensure proper documentation of invoices and payment vouchers and issue cheques/cash for all due invoices, employee salaries and statutory payments.
• Prepare and input journal entries for all cash related functions on the accounting software.
• Filing of monthly withholding tax deductions to the relevant tax authorities for tax deducted at source from vendor payments.
• Preparation and filing of monthly Pay-as-you-earn tax and pension contributions for employees with the appropriate authorities.
• Complete tax forms and provide tax records for prompt filing of employee and company annual tax returns.

I also have this concern. pls Let me know which one you eventually go for.

In the spirit of giving back, here is my landing gist. smiley Decided to post it here as well.

Landing Gist
Thank you, Jesus - - the giver of everything. Truly, nothing I have is truly mine. You are my all in all.

So, I flew from Wisconsin to Illinois (25 minutes) and from Illinois to Toronto (57 minutes). Got to Pearson around 9:45pm. We were not given any declaration document on board.

I had just a very small bag with me. I didn't check in any bag.

Getting to the airport, I used one of the machines there for declaration and I printed out a receipt. While at it, I answered "no" to almost every question except one that asked if I would be bringing some goods later.

After that, I proceeded to passport control. When I got there, I told the officer I came to establish residency and he directed me to the right quarters. There was no queue at all when I got there.

A nice lady called me and she collected my COPR and passport. She asked if I was ever convicted of any crime and I answered in the negative. She asked for my address in Canada and I gave her my friend's address. Those were the ONLY questions I was asked. She told me to keep my COPR safe as I would be needing it for many things in the future.

"That's it," she said.

I was like "wow, so fast(?!), thanks, have a good one."

And she said "you too, bye."

Then I proceeded to customs for Goods-to-Follow documentation. I gave the officer the pre-filled forms I downloaded online. He collected it and told me to sit down for a few minutes. He did all he was expected to do and after some 4 minutes or thereabouts, he called me by my middle name (which is a Christian name). At that point, I was like "hahaha, e be like say this name is what these people will be calling me o." Not like I don't like the name, I just prefer my Yorùbá name jare. smiley But no wahala.

Anyways, the officer gave me the pre-filled form back, now stamped and stapled with a new document. That was it. Nothing was asked.

The whole process from arrival to leaving the airport took probably just 15 - 20 minutes.

My friend came to pick me up to his apartment. Some 7 minutes drive from the airport.

Had a nice meal and I went straight to sleep. Before I slept though, I checked online and saw that PR card application was initiated already.

Will be getting my SIN and opening a credit union account today. Why credit union? Well, the only "bank" account I have in the US is a credit union account and I LOVE IT! I haven't had any issues with it 5 years and counting. I am guessing credit unions here will be similar.

Plus, I am pretty conservative when it comes to money. So, I don't see any reason why I won't do the same in Canada. smiley

And about the cold. People keep talking about Canadian cold like it's going to be ridiculously crazy. Frankly, the Wisconsin I left yesterday was way colder than the Toronto I landed at. smiley I was hoping to see something that would knock Wisconsin off the chart. smiley Of course, I know Toronto is not the coldest place in Canada.

Based on my experience so far, Canadians are quite laid back. smiley And I mean it.

I will be here for just a few days.

Stay motivated. Godspeed, everyone.

I say things from my own perspective and experience there is no point been aggressive about your response. The PR you are hustling for.. I have it already. While your experience might be different from mine..doesnt suggest mine should be negated as the circumstance may be different.

I used 1 year continuous NYSC experience to succeed in the process as my primary Noc, I had initially put another experience in the primary Noc but then ran in to issues. Then I declined my ITA and removed the other experience and put it it in the additional experience part and it worked out fine as I was fortunate to get the ITA again 2 weeks later, which worked out fine.

Not necessary bros, u guys need to grow up

My brother you are the aggressive one , nobody is quarreling with you. Because you have PR now, you think that’s the end of the world. I am only saying your advice to that person can mar or make them . If your experience is not the situation at hand there’s no point confusing anyone. Please, some of us have this PR and we are not insulting anybody .
Thank God say man no be God, you have PR , you want to bring down the whole nairaland.

If the couple are able to prove beyond reasonable doubt with evidences then it should be okay.. there was once a PPR story here on Naira land about a lesbian couple who were common law partners with a dependent child and they are currently in Canada. So i believe it is possible.

Hello all and Happy New year..
Been away for a while. Finally ITA should fall on me in the next draw as I got a PNP application approved. Glory to God.
Please add me to the AOR group (I hope this is what they are called) for the next draw. I am very confident it will be a speedy processing by God's grace.
Praying for speedy processing once ITA drops and already researching best place to stay around the GTA (to our elders, please help with suggestions).
Thanks in advance.

Hi, My wife’s final divorce documents are dated after our wedding day as the documents delayed and we could not postpone the wedding. Will this be a problem for the PR process? As I am the PA. Thank you.

Yes it will be a problem. Its illegal. She can't remarry until the initial marriage is dissolved. Pls don't be in a hurry. Your wedding must be after the final dissolution of the previous marriage. Don't give a reason for refusal of your application.
