Please note importation of foreign rice is not banned! Anyone can import rice through the seaports. As long as they pay correct duty on the rice

Try Umza rice. my only wahala with it is it doesn't take long to spoil lol so i cook in small quantities but then again i don't refrigerate

I don't know of any other rice but I am sure of Crystal Gold Rice . Their Ofada is just so amazing as will as their normal local Nigerian rice. You can find them on Jumia or call 07036394918

If you also want to remove stone or dirt from your rice they are at your service .

APC and GMB rice is a death sentence. Very dehumanizing to eat this accidentally programmed risk(APC) rice!

I still bought the foreign rice this morning and it’s taste very good compare to the nonsense local once they want to impose on us.. the price difference is 200..

How can local rice go as high as #22,000 per bag, it is not encouraging at all.

A bushel (25kg) at the rice mill is 5-5.5k while 50kg is 10,500
De-stoning is #200 per 50kg bag
And a packing bag is maximum 200

In all, a 50kg bag will cost #11,200
Note: if you are buying in a large quantity as a business man, it would be discounted
No local means of Transportation will charge upto 5k per bag. So no excuses for transport.

This is a point where I think there should be balance between Capitalism and government intervention.

If the machines for cleaning rice are expensive, let the government bring the machines into the country and let's eat foreign standard rice.
At least I know of a state government that imports construction equipments and hire it out to her own contractors.

I don't know where you all get your rice but Abakaliki rice does it for me. It is mostly stone-free and also very affordable, contrary to the report up there. I prefer local rice to foreign rice but let me sample the opinion of others.

Bighead, you sound so pained. I don't know what you are passing through at the moment, but what I can tell you is this "stay strong". You could use a hug from a loved one right about now.

A 25kg of Nigerian rice packaged as foreign rice was given to me in December. Even without opening the bag, you’d know the rice was local because it looked dirty through the bag.

I wasn’t home when my wife opened the bag but I noticed she had packaged the rice in small quantities with the intent to give them out. Her reason was that the rice was the lowest grade of local rice and she wondered why anyone would give that as a gift. I was a little upset that she did so without consulting with me so I insisted we would cook the rice first before a decision was finally made.

The water from washing the rice was like water taken from the gutter without the smell, even I got a little anxious because I knew I wouldn’t hear the last of it if the rice turned out bad. Lo and behold, to my wife’s and my surprise, the rice turned out wonderfully. Not 100% like foreign rice but I can comfortably give it 9/10. I guess it’s the knowledge of how to cook it that matters. Not too much water so it doesn’t get soggy or over cooked.

Lack of machine to destone and polish. And right now, the difference in prices of both foreign and local is not that much again. That means the demand for local will drastically reduce again, back to square one.
