And that I don't want a dent on our friendship. We were okay. A relationship would have been uncertain.

That's the problem with friendship between opposite sex, one will love the other, while the other can't requit that love.

I had a situation like this last year, I just let go. I think that's better than preserving that friendship since it will hurt you both
And lead to other unreligious things

Date your best friend, cos there will be more than enough things to keep you guys together for a long time.

Cos they feel their best friend knows to much about them, some feel insecure about this.

It depends on who is involved,

If its with someone that knows how to handle rejection, the friendship will pick up again after a short while.
But its with someone that cant handle rejection, they will start to distance their self from you.

Then you should let her know what you are about.
Highest thing is she will say no - which is not the end of the world.

Yeah I know that,
thats why I said if she comfortable around you, and that only happens through friendship.

I am in a slightly different situation now. there was this girl I had a conversation with in a bus one day. met her at a seminar months later, she offered something to drink during the break and we exchanged contact. all I wanted to do is just smash and run but became close later, found out she is a virgin and a decent girl who just wants a serious relationship.
I am afraid to date her now preferring just friendship because I know I will just ruin everything while she want something serious .

sometimes it is the fear of losing both the friendship and the relationship makes them to hid the feeling. they just keep hoping things change someday

I don't really blame them Sha, most times they keep their distance coz it hurts so much for them to love someone n not being loved back.

I'm talking about a different kind of love, not the type u feel towards family members or friends, that's different.

Oh that kind of love, never experienced it but it's always ends in heartbreak. My aunt almost killed herself cause of love, I saw her as a loser though.
