Of what economic value is a rail from Lagos to Ibadan compare to the cost?
Improved trade and transportation has impact on economy. This rail line is been connected to the port in Apapa. It implies cargoes can be transported from the port, as such less traffic on vehicular roads, less heavy duty moving trucks that damages the roads faster. If you think slightly hard enough, you will realise the economic impact.

It's just Nigeria, and I don't think a rail line from Lagos to ibadan is a very gigantic project on the scale of things.

Don't sound too sure.

I have a farm in Omi Adio that I’m in at least twice a week.

I’ve said this before, that rail line is not getting completed until XMas 2021.

Astute engineers from 1st world countries would understand why.

Nice efforts there by the government but why is the completion being shifted every now and there? Was a feasibility study not done on the project?

Simple answer: this is Nigeria

Less traffic? ??....wen Dangote is planning to import ten thousand trucks from china

The trains will lessen traffic because bulk goods are usually transported by rail. The rail line will eventually extend to kano. When that happens there's less of need for long haul routes.

Dangote plans on importing them from Indonesia. The trucks will spread all over the country and mainly used by farmers to transport goods.

I dont know im guessing cashews export. The other thing to consider is this is segment of Lagos to Kano rail line.

Ode .....If you like be a shit ...We are not interested but atop making these rogues look like they are doing something great .
Ibadan to Lagos is 120km ...Abuja to Kaduna is 185km completed in time by GEJ.
So don't make noise on this as if they have done what have never been done . This rail was even the phase 2 of the railway plan done by GEJ . First phase was the Kaduna Abuja one done in record time .
Sorry ., you don't read news neither have you been to Abuja so you may not know that there is a railway built by GEJ ....
Abeg park one side ...Apart from this rail , what else is to boast about after 5 years ?
Yeye man ..De Dre de hail rogues for doing what they ought to do and thinking that nigerian politicians are different...

Lagos Ibadan rail way is a part of the Lagos-Kano railway project. Lagos with a population of over 20million and a coastal city with a port controls a large part of the economy. Lagos as a stand alone compared to other African countries is the fourth largest economy in Africa.

Getting freight out of Lagos to another hub is an astute move. It will reduce pressure in Lagos infrastructure. Also the goods will now be 100km nearer to the destination.

Additionally, think of the new jobs that will be created in Ibadan and the taxes that Oyo state will realize.

One of the government’s job is to create an environment that fosters business growth. Think of all the new ancillary businesses that will spring up around the area.

Yours truly has secured land directly opposite the Omi Adio station to plant a rest area for weary travelers. A few studios and 1 bedroom apartments will also be available for long term rental. So a freelancer or consultant can live in Ibadan and work in Lagos.

It’s a win win for all.

Re: Amaechi: It’s Impossible To Complete Lagos-ibadan Rail Project In April by adeoba2008(m): 9:25pm On Jan 22, 2020
There is no project that can finish at estimated time or cost but the FG has to hold ccecc responsible for some of the failures. I think the rain actually disturbed those chinko coupled with the overpopulation in ibadan which cannot be compared to ibadan or Lagos where the rail passed through not too developed areas.

We shall get there .

Are you a Qs or civil engineer?

Do you understand contract laws and factors affecting contract delivery?

If you are non of the above and you don't know anything

Please STFU and stop saying you are sure of what you don't know

Simple Google search would give you an idea of time frame and if you want to compare China's transport systems with Nigeria's. Then something is wrong with you upstairs

Smh
Extended ko, distended ni. Where did the rail start from before.
Was the train not for connecting the coastal area to the hinterland?

PS: Amaechi was also in PDP
