my question is, what makes it really safe even when kept outside, can't an explosion occur even while its been kept outside, I'm not countering what u said, just being curious

Within a confined area like your kitchen there's accumulation of escaped gas which can lead to explosion when ignited. Outdoors any gas that escapes quickly dissipates preventing the risk of explosion.

Do you think they put it indoors because of thieves?

Like I said, they'll have to decides which is more valuable between their lives and the gas canisters.

Building a metal cage to secure a gas canister is not rocket science. Might cost you some money but I think the cost will be far lesser than what your life is worth.

because there is minimal risk of damage, loss of lives and explosion, when it occurs outside, the gas leakage can not fill all the entire atmosphere outside, compared to when the gas cylinder is inside the kitchen and a leakage happens, the gas leakage will Fill and contain the entire kitchen and extends to other rooms, and an ignition will explode, destroy your building, kill people in the proximity.
nice info, thanks

This calls for collaborative efforts in homes an in all gas refiling centres to check-mate every cylinder that comes to patronise them. With this having said will help in curbing explosions mainly at home side. lets all be careful in dealing with anything called gas. do not let the children cross the yellow tapes.

What are the precautions on how to avoid gas accidents?
It is not stated by the OP. Always try to read an article before typing or still book space, then read, you can comment.

I read the article from the beginning to the end, no precautions /precaution, only giving us histories, those that have power plants in different states, some occurrences, how the Task force should be set up and seal off any illegal dealers / sellers, how they would register and be given a number...... etc.

So what are then the precautions since it is educating??

They wrote different stories there, with safety tips. So if you were asked to point out 5 safety tips from the write up, u won't find any??

Our agency are not doing their core job. Most people who design and construct are not certified.

Is this dangerous

sad

Yes. Very very dangerous. If there is a leakage and you strike a match or use a lighter there, you are a gonner.

Your gas cylinder ought to be somewhere far from where the burner is. You would have to use a long hose/pipe, to connect both.

Its for your own safety cos if you rely on the Nigerian govt to do things like checking for expired cylinders or training vendors properly in safety procedures, you would be wasting your time.

I am surprised that there is so much emphasis on the gas cylinder itself leaking according to responses trending. The gas cooker itself, is the culprit in most cases. Aging gas cookers with old noozles and switches tend not to lock properly, leading to gas leak even when turned off. The user should be attentive to gas smell, especially when the cooker is not in use. As a preventive measure, I switch off the head of the gas cylinder when it's not in use. Another important thing for users of cooking gas to do is to ensure that the kitchen ia airy. Always leave the windows open to avoid accumulation of gas for any reason.

Extremely dangerous. The cylinder should at least 100 yards away from the stove

my brother I am surprised they are mostly concerned about the gas cylinders forgetting there is a hose connecting the gas cylinder and the cooker, of which there can be a leakage from the hose. The best way to be safe is always check for leaks and ensure proper ventilation, it has saved many lives which I know of.

No, it is very safe!

Infact let a 3 year old child sit on the nozzle while cooking for extra effect..

Then use a sledge hammer and a 6 inch nail to puncture a hole in the cylinder while it is being used to cook the last supper

angry
ROTFL..Cmon man..Go easy on him..
