A disheartening and heartbreaking video just hit the internet. This video shows some Nigerian soldiers drinking dirty water from an unclean stream.

From the video, many soldiers can be seen fetching and drinking water that doesn’t look good for human consumption, let alone soldiers fighting terrorism.

The fighters can be heard lamenting the terrible and distasteful state they found themselves. This is for sure an indictment on the authorities despite billions of Naira being allocated for soldiers welfare and to fight Boko haram.

The poster of the video compared the 5 star treatments given to BH members by the Federal Government to that of the Nigerian soldiers in battlefield. In his words “Boko haram members who are on rehabilitation eats, drinks, sleeps in a better condition than their victims in IDP camp and our soldiers in front line,how can rehabilitating and reinstating them back to the society solve the problem?”

Only God can judge this govt. Where did the 1billion dollars withdrawn from excess crude oil account sometime ago? May God continue to protect the soldiers.

Why can't the government / military supply them clean drinking water? There is no where water cannot be transported to in this country. I am sure there is provision for that, but some currupt folks will be siphoning the money.
Even boko harams and fulani herdsmen can't drink this water. If the soldiers drink this kind of dirty water, only God knows what they eat.
How do you expect them to be able to defeat boko haram in this inhumane condition ? If disease or sickness kills the soldier we will all attribute it to boko haram.

I am tired of this country.

I have drank worse water in training, deployment and will still do, the army is not for the weak.

Back to this video, there are supplies provided, of course troops in far remote locations might get delays in supplies depending on several factors.

It is expected to be resilant and make good use of your environment.

There are more important things you people can hold the government accountable for regarding the military.

Back to this video, there are supplies provided, of course troops in far remote locations might get delays in supplies depending on several factors.

Chai! Perhaps infectious wild animals(rats, bats, shunks, birds, monkeys etc) may have drank, bath & defecate into this pool yet this is what these soldiers are forced by condition to drink from?

So the lives of the gallant forces sacrificing for fatherland are not so undeserving that the government that be cant provide them clean, safe and portable drinking water? No equipment nor the welfare of these soldiers enhanced.

Exactly, though I appreciate their service, I'm sorry to say that those soldiers are quite stupid.

In military training they teach you to make proper use of materials you find in your environment to survive. That includes being able to source clean water and seeing which plants are edible.

I don't see what properly trained army personnel would drink straight from a stream. Even to store the water and allow the sediments to settle at the bottom of the drum, they couldn't smh

That was the secret of the Roman army. Their troops were well taken care of.

Buhari who assured the Brits that if the Nigerian government could defeat the Biafrans in 30months, the Nigerian could take down Boko Haram.

The quality of the water is a testimony of the quality of the defeat the army should look forward to. This is just scandalous
