This is were you fail to get the point, the A109 was never build as a Primary role attack helicopter..... It's a utility helicopter, meaning it can do a little bit of everything, however transport is its main role.

Just because you choose to use it in a CAS role doesn't make it an Attack helicopter.....
Even in the DRC before the Rooivalk was deployed, SAAF used Oryx with door guns for CAS operation...... That doesn't all of a sudden make it an attack helicopter.

Even our Super Lynx helicopters which are deployed with our frigates have been specifically integrated with the Mokopa missile as well as torpedoes and depth charges... However it still doesn't make it an AH

Depends on configuration but APC(mostly) .........however if armed with a 30mm cannon as in the pic it could also fulfil the role of an IFV in less conventional operations.

But not ulike the A109 its not a dedicated IFV since it lacks the ballistic protection to fill that role.

The LYNX helicopter would clear the air on this. I hear Nigeria Navy is buying one or two. There is Army Lynx helicopter that is sometimes configured as an AH. The Navy Lynx is ASW but also SAR. There are anti-surface vessel missile launching lynx choppers. There are also a myriad no of uses.
I think the idea of dedicated AHs started with AH 64 Apaches. It is the deadliest chopper around but it is actually a waste of money. Single role aircraft are a waste.

We call MI 35M chopper attack helicopter because it is heavily armed and has heavy armour protection HOWEVER MI35Ms will carry up to 10 commandos, drop them at a position and go on to engage columns of tanks and IFVs.
Is that just an AH?. No.

I believe the A109s as configured with 70mm rockets, 20mm canons and HMGs meet all requirements of an attack helicopter. The cockpits are also lightly armoured btw.

I still maintain my stance that NAF uses A109 primarily as LUH. MI-35M is NAF primary AH. If you have any evidence to the contrary provide it.

Now seeing you don't understand dutch............And I do, let me translate what they are used for according to their website:

- Help to the nation( don't know exactly what that means, could be that im translating it wrong)
- Humanitarian emergencies
- Armed Military deployment
- Peacekeeping operations
- Medical evacuations

As you can see they are not PRIMARILY used for Attack operations

Also just because they can be armed with missiles or Guns......Just like SAAFs A109s or Super Lynx that still doesn't make them attack helicopters.
