kabe1:I corrected you..... A person who thinks an A109 is an attack helicopter |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 9:01am On Jan 28, 2020 |
jl115:You're hopelessly delusional. I said what defines an attack helicopter is simply it's ability to provide close air support. That's the definition of an attack helicopter. Any helicopter that can do that is an attack helicopter. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 9:04am On Jan 28, 2020 |
kabe1:if that was the definition of an AH then every helicopter that has ever carried a gun is an AH. Here's the actual definition of an AH: An attack helicopter is an armed helicopter with the PRIMARY role of an attack aircraft |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 9:11am On Jan 28, 2020 |
jl115:This is the primary role of this aircraft. You too dull.

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 11:54am On Jan 28, 2020 |
kabe1:This is were you fail to get the point, the A109 was never build as a Primary role attack helicopter..... It's a utility helicopter, meaning it can do a little bit of everything, however transport is its main role. Just because you choose to use it in a CAS role doesn't make it an Attack helicopter..... Even in the DRC before the Rooivalk was deployed, SAAF used Oryx with door guns for CAS operation...... That doesn't all of a sudden make it an attack helicopter. Even our Super Lynx helicopters which are deployed with our frigates have been specifically integrated with the Mokopa missile as well as torpedoes and depth charges... However it still doesn't make it an AH |

kabe1:Depends on configuration but APC(mostly) .........however if armed with a 30mm cannon as in the pic it could also fulfil the role of an IFV in less conventional operations. But not ulike the A109 its not a dedicated IFV since it lacks the ballistic protection to fill that role. |

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 3:03pm On Jan 28, 2020 |
kabe1:Its not..........the typhoon-vdv is just a lighter version of the standard typhoon APC..........for obvious reasons. |

Unfortunately the first 500 Signature Edition guns are $5,000, so I’m pretty much crushed.https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/shot-show-range-day-laugo-alien-pistol-holy-crap/ AIYAYAYAYA!?

The LYNX helicopter would clear the air on this. I hear Nigeria Navy is buying one or two. There is Army Lynx helicopter that is sometimes configured as an AH. The Navy Lynx is ASW but also SAR. There are anti-surface vessel missile launching lynx choppers. There are also a myriad no of uses. I think the idea of dedicated AHs started with AH 64 Apaches. It is the deadliest chopper around but it is actually a waste of money. Single role aircraft are a waste. We call MI 35M chopper attack helicopter because it is heavily armed and has heavy armour protection HOWEVER MI35Ms will carry up to 10 commandos, drop them at a position and go on to engage columns of tanks and IFVs. Is that just an AH?. No. I believe the A109s as configured with 70mm rockets, 20mm canons and HMGs meet all requirements of an attack helicopter. The cockpits are also lightly armoured btw. |

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 2:14pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
Lurker4Long:You are missing the point. Those birds you posted are used primarily used as Transport helicopters. The Nigerian Air Force uses the A-109K as a Close Air Support platform as it's primary role. hence the service designates the A-109K as an attack helicopter. The Air Force also has A109e platforms that are used for light transport and MEDVAC roles, hence their designation. Belgium also uses and identifies the A-109K as an attack helicopter. Why is the Type-056 in Nigeria an OPV and not a Corvette like in China? A service defines a platform by the role it plays in that service. |

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Xbee007(m): 3:06pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
kabe1:Lies, NAF uses the A-109 primarily as utility helicopter. It's only used for attack roles in low threat environment like the Niger Delta. The Air Force also has A109e platforms that are used for light transport and MEDVAC roles, hence their designation. |

Xbee007:https://allafrica.com/stories/201904230037.html night, revealed this during visit to frontline troops, said the delivery the two Agusta 109 power attack helicopters was enhance the fight against insurgency in the country. Don't you now sound dumb? ![]() |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Xbee007(m): 3:21pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
kabe1:I still maintain my stance that NAF uses A109 primarily as LUH. MI-35M is NAF primary AH. If you have any evidence to the contrary provide it. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 3:23pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
kabe1:This is straight from the Belgian Air Component: https://www.mil.be/nl/materiaal/109-hirundo Now seeing you don't understand dutch............And I do, let me translate what they are used for according to their website: - Help to the nation( don't know exactly what that means, could be that im translating it wrong) - Humanitarian emergencies - Armed Military deployment - Peacekeeping operations - Medical evacuations As you can see they are not PRIMARILY used for Attack operations Also just because they can be armed with missiles or Guns......Just like SAAFs A109s or Super Lynx that still doesn't make them attack helicopters. Pics Belgian A109s taken directly from the Belgian Air component: Secondly the Nigerian Navy P18N are an OPV version of the type 56...........they do not possess the armament to be designated as a corvette.

kabe1:The person who wrote the article sounds dumb..........Xbee007 is 100% correct, your Mi35 are AHs not A109s...........honestly Bro, A109s are good helicopters and a great addition to your Air Force........Nobody is bashing them, it just you, that wants to hold on to this false narrative that they are AHs |

Xbee007:I don't understand what you mean by evidence to the contrary? I never said the A-109K is the primary attack helicopter of the Nigerian Air Force. I said the A-109K would be used as a Close Air Support platform in the Nigerian air force service, thus making it an attack helicopter. I also provided proof to support this. Remember I said A-109K and not A-109e. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 4:23pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
jl115:The statement quoted in that article is directly from the Nigerian Air Force. Who's talking about bashing, are you drunk again? I'm telling you what they are according to it's user and you're talking yayafo. |
