Happy New Year People. So I decided to visit one of the oldest and best zoos in Nigeria, The University of Ibadan Zoological garden Located inside University of Ibadan Campus. It is one of the biggest and a pace setter in the zoological settings in Nigeria.

It was quite surprising to see that the zoo is well maintained and has lot of beautiful and exotic animals. You can never get bored.

It was established in 1948 , it became a full fledge zoo in 1974 and it has remained ever since

I have had the opportunity of visiting some zoos in Nigeria and sometimes you are just tempted to free the animals cos the zoos are hunger zones, but here in Ibadan the reverse is the case, the animals look fresh, they are well fed, even the lions look chubby. One of the easiest ways to know if a zoo is taking care of their animals, just move towards animals that rely on protein for survival , if the animals look healthy, just give kudos to the zoo.
I was quite impressed but unfortunately I couldnt get a good images of the King of the jungle, That lazy animal was sleeping, I jokingly ask one of the zoo keepers if he can go wake him up, he looked at me with one eyes hahahaha I said Oga na joke I dey o lol. But lions can sleep sha. I was there for over 5 hours and this guy was just literally sleeping, Oya biko stand up, I didnt pay to come and watch you sleep , Anyways enjoy the other pictures from different sections of the zoo.

More pictures. I feel they still have a lot to do to restock some of the dead animals also why is it that zoos don't let animals breed? Cos there is no zoo that I have visited that I have seen any animal with babies? Just wondering

One of my favourite parts of any zoo is the reptile section. But Ibadan zoo was different. Cold shivers covered me, Most of the zoos usually have their reptile section outside but Ibadan zoo built their like an enclosure. you will open the door and you are always advised to shut the door once you enter. Now imagine your heart racing while you are watching a King cobra display its and then some one decided to open the door and shut it with force. Damn!!! It was so interestingly scary that I was just carried away playing watch the cobra that I almost forgot other snake species existed.
I have seen cobras numerous times but every time I set my eyes on a King Cobra there is this shiver that it sends down my spine. Even the cobras will give lalasticlala a run for his money.

two animals that every time you see them gives you this feeling is the King cobra and the lion.

Picture below is where the snakes are kept, for the first time, I think I got carried away that I forgot to take pictures of all the snakes, It was when I got home I was like What? Well I can watch reptiles for a whole day. Wild reptiles look gentle and harmless but they are deadliest.

See pictures from the reptile place

2. One of the snake species
3. Another section of the enclosure

Thank you OP. I have never understood why people travel overseas for vacation when we have everything right here in Nigeria.

Mehn I remember I went to this place during my nursery school days.

They told us the lion name is “Lior”. We all keep shouting Lior, the lion no even look our side lol.

Those acting as guides then are clowns. Which one be Lior.

I suggest no flesh eating animal should ever go hungry in a Nigerian zoo, when we have Fulani miscreants and boko haram terrorist that we could catch and serve to these poor animals, that way we are saving the government cost of buying meat for the animals and also resources wasted on their so called rehabilitation

nonsense
press like if you support the notion and share if you don't

Is it not hypocrisy to lock up animals in prisons and those not locked up are killed and their corpse eaten by humans, yet humans cast and bind demons who try to feed on them?

What you sow as a specie, you reap.

STOP imprisoning of other species and eating animal corpses.
