The votes were not near 2/3rd to acquit....Conversely, had the threshold to acquit was 2/3rd as you ignorantly stated; Trump would have been out of office by now, because he does not have 2/3rd in the Senate to acquit him on anything.

It does not take the congress alone to make impeachment. The Senate house has to conduct theirs too.

Trump is the third to be impeached by the congress and Acquitted by the Senate house. If the senate votes for the same lines with the congress, the president is Impeached and consequently removed.

Here in Nigeria the house of rep can impeach the president but it needs the support of the senate to confirm them. We work in principle with American system of government only in practice do we differ due to greed and ethnicity

Also acquitted does not mean, his impeachment by the House is nullify or wipes clean; he was, still and forever be counted as a US President that was impeached.

Lastly, all two other US Presidents that were impeached before Trump were also acquitted by the Senate, so it is near impossible to convict a US President after impeachment, it has never been done, more so why today’s Senate vote is no news and changes nothing.
