First someone sipped kunu and increased visa fees for Americans, they retaliated by increasing theirs, Nigeria sheepishly reduced it.

Fast forward to some months, Trump-led USA banned Nigeria and Nigeria further slashed visa fees further for Americans.

I guess you actually meant “48 Laws of Power”

WASTED EFFORT, IT WILL STILL TAKE USA AT LEAST A YEAR BEFORE THEY WITHDRAW THE ADDITIONAL FEE OF BETWEEN $80 AND $303 FOR SUCCESSFUL VISA APPLICANTS. USA GOVERNMENT COMPLAINED ABOUT THE EXTRA RIDICULOUS FEE THAT NIGERIA WAS CHARGING LONG AGO BUT OUR DUMB GOVERNMENT REMAINED SILENT. IT WAS AFTER THEY SLAPPED UP WITH THE BETWEEN $80 TO $300 TARIFF THAT WE DECIDED THE TAKE MEASURES. SINCE THEN TRUMP STILL CHOSE TO RETAINED THE TARIFF DESPITE NIGERIA DROPPING HERS. THIS $180 to $160 DISCOUNT NIGERIA IS IMPLEMENTING NOW IS JUST TO CALL THE USA’S ATTENTION TO SEE IF WE WOULD BE FORGIVEN. USA NOR GO EVER SEND NAIJA FOR ANY SERIOUS MATTER, SO NAH BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR NOW WITHOUT MODIFICATION.

We are doing fee reciprocity instead of us to be doing visa denial reciprocity!! I doubt we deny any US citizen coming to Nigeria a visa but the way they deny Nigerians is a different case

Despite FG’s reduction, US refuses to drop hiked visa fees for Nigerians
August 31, 2019

After the Federal Government of Nigeria slashed visa fees for the citizens of the United States, the United States Embassy has stated that it would continue to charge Nigerians reciprocity fees.

Reasons given: The US Embassy gave its reason in a press release stating that it had not received any diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas.

“The US Embassy looks forward to receiving official diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas. Until such time, and confirmation of implementation, the reciprocity fees for approved visas to the United States will remain in place.”

This is coming two days after the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola announced the review of visa fees payable by United States citizens. The fee was reduced by 11% from $180 (N55,260) to $160 (N49,120).

The action was taken by the Nigerian Government as a result of the reason the US gave when it hiked the visa issuance fees for Nigerians. The US Government claimed that it had engaged the Nigerian Government seeking a reduction on the cost of visa issuance to its citizens since early 2018.
