The wife suffered the physical and emotional trauma and the man suffered a severe emotional and psychological trauma. Being raped is terrible enough, a loved one witnessing it helplessly is equally distressing.

Back in the late 90s, One Igbo trader travelling to the East with his wife was robbed and his wife raped in his presence. After the incidence, her husband changed towards her. The woman called a family meeting and told them to help talk to her husband that what happened wasn't her fault.
