Lol, if a stranger can survive with all those keke drivers in the north that can't speak even pidgin, then a stranger can survive anywhere in the south. See this one that is coming from the most unsafe region in the country is complaining about the safest regions in the country. What an irony! The only thing you should worry about is going to the market as a JJC(first timer), this is obtainable in every major market of the country and outside the country, so it is normal. Be smart, don't act as a newbie, don't be too smart. Check qualities or check prices in a number of shops before settling for a good. Confirm the number or quantity of your goods before it is being packed or sealed and make sure you're there to monitor it. While on transit with the good(s), don't loose guard (na everywhere this one dey happen too, so na normal thing) The main thing should be mindful of is the price, quality and quantity. 37 Likes 2 Shares |

aba is not south.... to an extent south east, please your best bet it's to use your decent sense, mingle with hausas more and only relate to trusted persons....... You can come down to onithsa then take a bus to aba via peace mass or you go directly to aba. the luxury park at gada biu handles both routes. abeg delete all bank statements from phone, and two better blend well 2 Likes 1 Share |

I'm more worried about you going to the market alone. Don't behave like a JJC , and also try and pretend you know the correct price of the things you've come to buy. Go to several shops before deciding. Secondly, hope you know the original from the fake of what you want to buy. Otherwise, you will enter one chance |

Your post is an insult to the sensitivity of people in the South. Someone staying all his life, possibly in North Central Region coming here to make noise about security in Aba and PH. My dude stay back in your Jtown and buy your goods there oooo simple 28 Likes |

Don't believe all you read online. South East, South West and South South are far safer than North. Avoid night movement as others posted earlier. Avoid 'notice me' dressing. Just blend in. It's surprising how most southern people badmouth their region on security when it's North that's generally known to be unsafe. It's rare to find someone of middle age or younger in the south that doesn't speak or understand pidgin or good English. 4 Likes |

ThemanS: There are websites for reviewing and booking hotels in Nigeria. Look at them thoroughly with your concerns in mind. The receptionist is also supposed to provide you reliable information and people that may cost you a bit more but with a higher degree of reliability. Security does not come cheap and should not be compromised because of stinginess. 1 Like |

AMvanquish:This is not true. No one harasses you for being Hausa down south...There are a lot of hausa communities down south, no one will harass or stigmatize you for being Hausa...moreover there are many Igbos that understand and speak hausa because of businesses they do up north or have lived in the North 18 Likes |

ThemanS: Is easy to paint people red but watch and tell your self truth, If south East is not safe is it north that is safer? If Aba people don't understand English is it the northern people that attend alamajiri school understand English? is Aba and port/H is not good for Night sightseeing seeing is it North that have sharia and all manners of terrorist is good to move around in the Night? If Aba or port is 2% bad then north is 20% bad. take it that your traveling from hail to heaven because northern weather is not friendly, neither northern environment is flies free zone and other bad air-born diseases, all this i mention you can't experience any at East. No alamajiri dirtiness that can make you vomit when eating, everyone you see at East take bath before coming out even the truck pushers. Nigeria man from north consider your safe lucky for about to travel from hail side of the country to haven side of the nation despite power in the north for years. good stay in environment with good weather. If entire east whether old or new eastern region have good governors the north should have be going to East and south with visa because the south don't need north for anything. there's nothing that can make me travel to the north unless to middle belt states. 12 Likes |

ThemanS: There are good hotels at rumuokwuta, mgbuoba or nkpolu axis that might have lodgings for that amount per night. Can't remember how muh Tuscany Lodge is, but it's one of those hotels with a bar(might be noisy) and lots of security. Found hotels.ng gives good(sometimes) dated info on hotels in whatever area you're going to. Basically, look for a taxi guy at a park to carry you around. Have his number. He might charge you but he'd(mostly) look out for you. Painted taxi. Note the areas you where asked to avoid. And note that you aren't safe anywhere in pH or it's environs once it starts getting dark. Good luck! Modified: I need to add this. Since you're going with public transport, go to waterlines and look for RTC park to take transport to aba or wherever in the east. Don't stand by the road side and flag down vehicles. I repeat. DO NOT STAND BY THE ROAD SIDE TO FLAG DOWN VEHICLES. If you're traveling always leave early. Do not move around those areas at night 1 Like 1 Share |
