Something terrible and miraculous happened today guys.
@12pm.

I was at Oando filling station marina when this request came in.
Called rider, she said she's at the traffic light at CMS bus stop on marina. She was going to Aja.

I said okay, that she should pass the traffic light and move forward a bit so that I'll pick her up and zoom off to avoid Lastma and CBD men. She said okay.

I got there but couldn't see her, called her to know where she is, but she was just behaving like a novice.

All these while, I was equally looking out for the CBD and Lastma men, to know when to zoom off and run away.

Suddenly, a Sienna car stopped at my back so I couldn't see when Lastma might be coming again. Before I know what's happening, a Lastma van have blocked my front with over 10men in it. (some tax force were with them). the car at my back has gone by then.

I engaged reverse, but before I could move back all of them have jumped down, but I kept moving back and wanted to run away. They blocked me with their Iron, I climbed it with my two tyres(front and back), but the van blocked me. I engaged reverse again and tried to run from the right, they put that trap again I climbed it, but the van also blocked me.

If they block me on the right, cars will be passing from the left, when they block me on the left, cars will be passing from the right. This went on for over 2mins.

Over 4 of them started knocking on my glass and dragging my door to wind down and open my door, I kept telling them no, and was equally begging for them to allow me pass.

At a point I resorted to park, cos I was already causing serious traffic and they are already getting so angry with me. But then I remembered freshprince91's experience that he paid 20k, I just know that because of the stress I've already given them, my fine will be more than the 60k vio is collecting from uber drivers and decided not to give up till the break my glass and enter my car.

I tried to escape from the right, they blocked me again. I reversed and tried from the left, they also blocked me. I just raised my two hands up and said "okay I give up, I give up"; stirred fully to the right, but my gear is still on D and I was using style to observe the Lastma driver to know when to catch him off guard, while my hands are still up.

Immediately I noticed that he wasn't looking and cars are passing from the left. I just climbed the trap and sped through before he could realise and block me.

The crowd around there shouted in shock.
I matched my throttle to the carpet and zoom off.

I ran straight to VI, packed somewhere around bishop Oluwole, came down checked my tyres and my plate numbers; they're still intact, and I just Thanked my God.

Finally na madness them dey take cure madness for this Lagos.

Don. I am happy for you. The narration just be like film , like I was there. Mehn. That was some nerves u gat.

That Marina and Lagos Island , na real trouble.

Dats how dis lady rider I picked heading to UBA marina from Idado Estate, Agungi axis.

@ drop off, you were asking for acct no. to transfer , we had stopped at ATM at lekki where she withdrew cash oh.

Only to get there , she begin dey ask for acct no. Somtyms I wonder wats wrong wt such riders, in a HOT zone like Marina, asking for acct no.

Some riders sef. Till we got to Uba marina after d ramp, I was on high alert.

I Don't like Marina and Lagos Island trips.

I have three lessons and tips to drop. Infact I will repeat it again that people need to learn the hard ways. Even when I dropped it here that the so called radio conversation was a scam and distributed on Whatsapp groups, some of you have decided to be iddiotic for life! Here are the lessons,

(1) Am very glad that this hopeless driver was scammed of 2k. I seriously pray to the lord of hosts that you loose more money to your stuppidity in Jesus name Amen.

Drivers, stop wasting your airtime calling the so called scammer. The fellow driver that scammed him did the right thing. You know why? That driver that scammed him may not have been a scammer. He may just be angry with the way a fellow driver is being stuppid asking for where to get LASDRI card even when Uber has not made it official. He now decided that "Well, since this one has 3k he is not using and wants to throw it away, let me kukuma use it and buy bread for my family". So in retrospect, the so called scammer was doing us a favour by ripping the mugu.

(2) Drivers, when ever you take a trip to Marina, Obalende or anywhere on Lagos Island, just be aware that you are entering a high scam zone. That place is a safe haven for CBD, Lastma, Police and atimes Army! Have you ever wondered why everyday there is surge on that axis? Too much fake trips! There is a conglomerate of scammers who book trips and send drivers to marina. The people booking the trip maybe in far away Ikeja, Aja, Ejigbo, Ikotun, Idimu etc. But they will put Marina as there pickup! This scam has been going on for over 4 years now and I can assure you that millions if not billions are made there yearly. Ask me how. Once they catch you, 20-50k straight. No abeg! If they catch at least 10 drivers daily, thats a minimum of 300k daily and over 1.4 million in a week. Do the calculations by a year and see the staggering numbers. Don't even doubt if they make... Broda, they do!

I once fell a victim but the powerful most high God saved me! It was a very funny story. I was at Marina and I got this request on Taxify back then. I was still a JJC and didn't know watsup then. But God used the same scammer to expose the scam to me.

Me: Hello Sir, you requested taxify. Where are you and where are you going?

Rider: You are picking me up at Tinubu square and am going to Magodo.

Me: Ok Sir. Am coming sir.

Usually when I get trips on either Uber or Bolt, I switch off one of the apps. But for some divine reasons, I forgot to switch of my Uber.

On the way and a minute later, I got a trip on Uber and I mistakenly accepted. I wanted to cancel but something pushed me to call and probably know where the rider is going to. Probably a better place. Lo and behold... Guess who? THE SAME RIDER THAT BOOKED ME ON TAXIFY WITH SAME NUMBER! I have a photographic memory so I was able to recall I called this number a minute before on Bolt. This is what happened;

Me: Hello Sir, you requested an Uber. Where are you and where is your destination. (I changed my voice but his voice was same. Tiny and seemingly innocent)

Rider: Am at Tinubu square and am heading to Sangatedo.

Me: Wow. Where you not same person that booked me on bolt and said you are going to Magodo?

Rider: (Silent on the phone)

Me: Chineke mere mmadu ebere. Ihea ka unu na aru na Lagos oburu oru? Ina apu ara? Okwa isi mebiri gi dia? undecided undecided

Rider: Oga speak a language I can hear

Me: That language you can hear kee you there! Ozu.

I cancelled the trip and japa straight!

So guys stay WOKE! THIS IS LAGOS. Any trip you get, make sure you DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN TILL YOU PICKUP THE RIDER AND IS SAFELY AWAY.

DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING WHEN CAUGHT. 99% CHANCE WAS THAT YOUR RIDER SET YOU UP. PEOPLE ARE HEARTLESS AND WICKED IN THIS LAGOS.

For safety, anytime you take a trip to marina, Obalende or its axis, simply off your apps and run away straight to Ahmadu Bello or Ikoyi. 200 naira fuel wasted is far more safe than 60k paid to armed and unarmed bandits called Police and CBD respectively!

There are people in this Lagos ripping uber/bolt drivers is there main occupation. Better shine your eyes! Useless things.

Very funny lad. Are you saying you have never paid any LASTMA, POLICE OR CBD OFFICERS ever since you started driving on Uber /taxify?
I met someone last week and in the course of our conversation, he said Marina is his safe haven, that he has never paid a dime or get caught breaking the law at Lagos island . Though he said he had to part with 3k on two occasions to Road safety officials because of his worn out tires and some agbero boys at somolu for taking a one way route.
So I'd like to know how it has been going for you.

Some of those toll attendants are thief. I passed admiralty toll plaza and I always like to pay with cash there so as to reserve my etag credit for the lekki-ikoyi link toll since that is strictly non-cash, so I gave this guy cash 1k and he balanced me my change after which he press a button and thank God I notice the electronic balance display which shows I have also been charged on my etag. I quickly challenged him and he came out of the cubicle and return my cash. I told him is this how you guys keep robbing unsuspecting users of their hard-earned money. When you get sacked now ur eye go clear. Guy be vigilant when using the toll so as to avoid double payment especially when u have etag.

The best is to avoid cash payment on any of those tolls, once you have an etag, it will debit the card(the etag uses a proximity sensor). It happened to me once, since then nah etag all the way. I do load the card often with 2k via the LCC app to avoid stories.

I have never paid lastma, cbd , police and other dirty tout since i started anywhere in lagos. I pick up and drop off at marina/ broad street in style.
Its all about insisting on safe places to drop off and pick up. Preferably oando, kakawa by 1stbank head office or at the entrance of car park but ensure ur car is not anywhere on d road.
Atimes, i settle those oando guys N200 for proper short parking if its a surge long trip.
If its a cash trip, i end the trip 500m before d drop off point. And if u are doing transfer, 1km away from drop off point.
I prefer to loose the N200 to riders than using 5k to beg one political touts called lastma or CBD

He must have been arrested for something else. Maybe broken windscreen etc.
They are not arresting any uber for hackney permit since their site has been down 2 weeks ago according to a VIO source now. I Just spoke to him.
And uber has not asked any driver to get hackney permit yet. Lets not panic but ensure ur cars are in good shape as per broken windscreen, side mirrors, brake light, headlamps, reverse light.
Ensure your fire extinguisher is on 12, if on 0 there is danger.

On a Sunday, everyone should know they are just working for their pockets.

Do civil servants love working for d govt like that. To start arresting motorists on Sunday.

Even if you observe Lastma on Sunday, there is a slow tempo to d work.

Just looking for money here and there.

mind you angry Igbo man is not totally right...he has limited knowledge of Lagos street.
For instance if you are taking a trip to marina, only drop off your rider at oando or any of the car park, but make sure your rider pays for car park.
For pick up at marina, direct your rider to meet you at oando... For Tinubu square direct your rider to meet at CBN. Anywhere other than that, you must be very smart and bold to do it. You can also do your pick up at kakawa and in front of first bank

This is pure set up. From the behaviour of the girl, the sienna that packed behind you shows it was a setup. That girl is probably inside that sienna observing the drama. Immediately the sienna packed behind you was when you should have taken off. They'll claim you packed along marina road and vehicles were packing behind you. Lucky you.

Me, I don't pick riders on Lagos Island as a whole. Once i drop, I take off to either VI or Ikoyi, places I'm familiar.
Lagos Island is confusing to me, from ever since I was in secondary school till date. Their oneway streets and LG touts and agberos. And now lastma and so many uniforms I cant identify, they're all thieves. They've collected my N10k once and that will be the last. Heartless people, just avoid them no matter the surge.

Chief, sorry i doubted you for a second. The said person (you) started driving on Uber remitting 30k weekly and was able to save 1.3m to buy a Naija used Corolla within the space of 1 year without cheating the system (sakamanje), car doesn't break down or failed to remit to the owner?
I don't believe you.
Even Jesusson2020 that claimed he got 650k to buy Napep last year within 8 months is a chronic liar. If he remitted regularly which i doubted and drove 14hrs daily for 7 days without falling sick or having a strain in his right foot within that period ,then he was cheating the system.
Nobody should come here and sell us lies. The best a driver can make weekly after remittance is 15-20k.
It won’t be worth while if rental is a mere 15-20k, 30 - 35k is what l expect and what l get, but l do all the repairs, drivers just drive

If (I used IF) and IF the Hackney permit rumours are becoming true, kindly tell your partners to get it.

It won't be easy looking all over your shoulders for 300 days.

LASDRI is #2000 for a year. Think about it, brethren

And if truely uber cars are to get hackney permit. It doesn't mean the Plate number must be changed to red. All car hire serives drivers at hotels and airport have hackney permits, yet their cars are on blue number plate

Uber does not care about bank transfers as mode of payment. They will reimburse you if the rider does not pay at all or pays part.

What they mean in essesce is to confirm bank transfers before moving on.......or as usual tender the number to the court for further disciplinary actions.

For uber, I don’t know the cost of their vehicle inspection but for bolt, all you need,
1. Your vehicle license document
2. Third party insurance
3. Jack, wheel spanner, fire extinguisher, spare tire.
4. Chilling AC
5. Car must be neat
6. 2k for inspection fee.

For the minimum driving experience, not required, just have a valid DL
That’s all
