Here's the thing, there was no single industry situated in the region, they were all situated in the outside Niger Delta, the fishery industry was 80 miles away at Aba, tie boat yard at Opobo was headquatered at Enugu, with most of its staffs mostly non-Ijo. More marginalzation were felt in 1959 when the Niger Delta Congress won only one seat at the Fedral house through Melford Okilo. In 1962 eastern region election and 1964 fedral election NDC lost to the. Igbo dominated NCNC. In the eastern region house they had four against 110, and 2 out of 58 in the mid western house.
1958 Adaka led a delegation to London, to look into the plight of the minorities, leading to the set up of Willinks commission and the institution of Niger Delta Development Board. Relive at last?

The rebellion was not against eastern region because the region is not a republic. The Adaka Boro's foolishness was against the Republic of Nigeria and he was dealt properly. Melford Okilo did not run against Igbo candidate in 1959 election. He ran against Ijo man. In 1962 regional and 1964 federal election, all the candidates who challenged the Niger Delta Congress candidates were all Ijo. It is a manner of treachery to allege that NDC lost to Igbo dominated NCNC while NCNC candidates won elections in Yoruba, Orhobo, Edo, Ibibio, Annag and Efik enclaves. This is the same mischievous intents that saw the likes of Iyalla, Clarke and Briggs sold the birth right of the sons and daughters of the so-called Niger Delta. Today, there are Abuja and Lagos yet no such infrastructure could be seen in the idiotic Niger Delta. It is very shameful the young sons and daughters of this moronic Niger Delta signed to die of cancer by soiling in crude oil bunkering in order to eke out one square meal a day while their counterparts in western and northern regions of Nigeria are jetting around the world as privileged kids of elite politicians from the zones.

It is remarkable that the so called "Niger Delta People" are so concerned about Igbos taking over their 'Oil' but they have no problems with the rest of Nigeria taking over their Oil

In other words, the so called "Niger Delta People" don't want to be fighting over their Oil with one ethnic group, the Igbos, in Biafra. But the so called "Niger Delta People" are very happy to fight with over 200 ethnic groups, including Igbos, over the same Oil, in Nigeria.

This logic means that the so called "Niger Delta People" are fools because only a fool sets out to make things more difficult for themselves than necessary

Bros it is laughable and shows the logic from the pages of idiocy. During the period in discussion, Oloibiri was not producing more crude oil than Owaza. Yet the goons still refer to this idiotic mantra.

You know nothing about the war than I do. My father went to that war and rose from a cadet to a commander of the squad that confronted the NA at Onitsha & Nnewi and I have first hand information also as my uncle escaped death in Kano cos he could speak an old Bendel language.
Your point was that Adaka took up arms and you gave the man no reason.
Ojukwu picked up arms too and you're giving reasons for him. What's the difference between you and the herdsmen who justify every of their carnage?
Stop lying to yourself; OJUKWU picked up arms against the state when we Igbos got tired of the killings up North and found in him a leader.
Oga, there are 3 things we Igbos messed up with, Viz;
1. Fighting Adaka Boro by Ironsi
2. Zik calling for 1 Nigeria when the Northers backed out while Awolowo warned him
3. That 1966 coup which no Igbo leader was murdered
So, accept our fault and move on

U guys and lies again. If Nigeria as it is today is still this back ward. Then imagine 50years ago, how it would be like.

U guys are just plain greedy, when u don't get yr way u say igbos marginalized u.

Look at western Delta(Midwest), according to them they were not comfortable with the western region. What did they do?

They organized themselves, did a referendum and got an autonomous region.

But eastern Delta, went and took up arms and say they want it out, because of according to them marginalization.

They couldn't even organize themselves if they say the ijaws are the fourth largest ethnic group and he had endorsement from all ijaws, how come he couldn't summon up to 200 soldiers.

U guys shud keep lieing to yourselves thinking you are deceiving anybody

If Biafra mistakenly happen and ND is part of it, South Sudan will be a child's play
Ojukwu went to war because of oil... LoL, or the other way around?

An Igbo speaking Niger Deltan from the Midwest planned a coup, a coup that Ojukwu knew nothing about, then people start getting killed and u expect Ojukwu to fold his hands because of oil.

Was the so called assembly Ojukwu claimed to represent a full representative of the Eastern region ??

Was their a referendum amongst the minorities then ?

Isaac Boro remains a living legend .
If u guys keeps making somebody like Ataka boro a mentor, militancy and criminality would never stop in the Niger Delta.

Western Niger Delta had issues with western region, they went through the right way and a referendum was held and they got there autonomy.

Eastern Niger Delta had issues with the east, the leader goes back home and starts a militant group.

The person who used the genuine and legal way of referendum is not remembered but the person who took to militancy is the role model of every Niger Delta... LoL

Give ojukwu mandate through their reps ,go back n stabs us in the back ,took our properties

Yet when the whole country abandoned them na we stand by them ...yet all we get are insult n lack of trust

I grew up in port Harcourt ,stay in uyo ...my family have investment in bayelsa ...I know south south people ...especially ijaws ....they are intimidated by Igbo dominance

They fear merit competition would make them lose out to Igbo's ,...the only people in south south who do not fear Igbo's are the delta /Edo ...to some extent cross river

This groups have self believe

Today many ethnic groups stay n make money in rivers state but Igbo's have most investment here

Makinda made over 50 billion from pH ,show me is investment here

Apart from next oil ,show me any other Indigenous company building facility in rivers state thats owned by a none rivers man

Kilimanjaro ,genesis ,market square , everyday these are all Igbo men who made money in rivers state and invested back to the state ...can u say so of other tribes ? No
Yet we hate Niger delta

The truth is that Aguiyi messed up with this Adaka Boro issue, simple and fact. So, who mandated Kanu?
Vitalis, I'm an Igboman and we are known to accept our wrongs, take responsibility for our ills and makeup where necessary.
As for the secession by Adaka Boro, Ironsi messed up as today the Igbos are the ones seeking for same secession

According to the article they claim ijaws are the fourth largest ethnic group, then Boro picks up arms, but could only summon less than 200 soldiers. That alone tells u that the majority of ijaws were not with him.

That was not war it was militancy. Were u expecting the Head if government to just fold his arms?
