NGpatriot:
I din't answer your question because it was a redundant question.

The state already collects fees all over the place from transportation workers so what are you talking about? The also need their union fees after collecting all manner of registration and permit fees from them?

What is their business with NURTW and the fees they collect from their members?

Is Oyo state government now a fees collecting trade union?

They have NURTW branches all over Nigeria so I just wonder why many of you are losing sleep over Oyo state and not advocating for Abia Zamfara, Enugu, Alwa Ibom, Edo, Kwara and so on to also proscribe NURTW?

Some moves and polices are just dumb, just like Makinde, he's truly very dumb

After this I won't reply your mentions again for now Seyi is the one in charge and he has his say. Maybe when he finishes his tenure and another government comes on board he might allow them to be collecting dues again. If you must know virtually everyone driving pay for registration to NURTW so what other due did they want aside registration feehuh Know more free money, driving is not easy we can't be risking our lives on the road only for some people to be enjoying it all in the name of Union. Let the government collect the money and build better social amenities with it.

As we speak, I'm very sure the bay learner governor is reaching out and begging leaders for intervention to get him out of the hole he just buried himself in. He's already begging and looking for a way out already sef.

I'll be hear to laugh and entertain your emotions.

• Threatens strike after seven-day ultimatum

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Southwest on Tuesday urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to revert the proscription decision on the union’s activities in the state.

It issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government to also revert the appointment of ex-chairman of a faction of the union in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, as the chairman, Disciplinary Committee for the motor parks.

The union threatened that NURTW will begin strike if the decision is not rescinded by the government

At a briefing at the zonal secretariat complex in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, the union accused the governor of “deliberate attempt to take away our means of livelihood.”

Those at the briefing included Southwest Zonal Chairman Mr. Olamilekan Folorunso, Deputy Chairman Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, National Deputy General-Secretary and Chairman, Caretaker Committee Oyo State chapter, Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi and a Zonal Trustee, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle aka Sego.

The speech was read by Agbeyangi.

According to them, NURTW is a trade union recognised by the constitution and extant provision of labour laws.

They described the interference as undue and a violation of members’ freedom of operating as a union.

The union urged the government to stop interfering in the affairs of the union and allow the NURTW to carry out its legitimate duties.

Agbeyangi condemned Governor Seyi Makinde’s imposition of park managers to run the operations of the union at parks.

He also accused the governor of acting the script of some individuals to truncate the activities of the union and arrest its leaders.

Agbeyangi alleged: “It has come to the notice of our union that the governor in cahoots with an expelled member, “Auxiliary”, has been planning and making a clandestine move to arrest our leaders for state-sponsored killings of individuals, thereby taking them out of circulation.

“We are hereby using this medium to ask the government to stop undue and unwarranted interference in the affairs of the union. It should allow the NURTW to carry out its legitimate duties without let or hindrance.”

He stressed that the government should allow the activities of the union.

“The governor should kindly allow the activities of the union in the state and rescind the introduction of the park management scheme within one week, to save thousands of our members and their families from hardship,” Agbeyangi said.

There is NOTHING LEGITIMATE ABOUT NURTW!!!

The group and or Organization is Illegal!

The illegality there in is interested by it first main self-acclaimed task of TAXING Commercial DRIVERS.

NO!
Nigeria constitution as it were before Amendment Period and afterwards does not empower NURTW to take tax in whatever way!!!

Ministry of Works and Transportation is the only Government supported Organization that is charged with taxing Road users not any subgroup like Deadly NURTW.

WHO WANTS UNEDUCATED MURDERS TO TAKE CHARGE OF GOVERnance??

WHO?

If you must know I am a registered member of the said union in Ibadan, and I do drive my car myself, since you seem to know how they operate kindly tell me how the Union has been meeting the welfare of we members, did you know how much we use to pay daily before the proscription?
you are the union member so tell us how mush you used to pay before the proscription and WHY ? its absolutely normal for YOU to pay union dues as a member and if you as members cant stop the illegal collections by touts, how is that our problem? i have told countless number of cab/bus drivers that they are not obliged to pay any illegal fees at various bus stops and they are encouraging it by paying those touts and even policemen but they all seem not to care and only like grumbling when they can change it.
