The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has advised a former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, to perish the thought of defecting to the APC.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ade Ajayi, said this in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.

He said the party was not a dumping ground “for failed politicians,” adding that Fayose was not wanted in the party because of his antecedents.

This was contained in a statement he signed. Ajayi described the APC as “a disciplined, refined and integrity-inclined type which would not tolerate people like Fayose,” adding that “Fayose is not qualified to be a member of the APC in the state.”

A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and incumbent Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, was on Friday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

PREMIUM TIMES investigation shows that Mr. Akpabio was taken in by EFCC operatives at about 5.20 pm.
He was said to have been accompanied a few aides and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Ricky Tarfa.

An aide to the former governor, who cannot be named because he is not authorised to speak on the matter told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Akpabio is currently being interrogated by top officials of the EFCC.

An EFCC source confirmed the development.

“He was brought in at about 5.20 pm accompanied by a few aides and Mr. Rickey Tarfa,” the source said.
“It is not yet known whether he will be allowed to go this night. It depends on how the interrogation goes.”

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, did not answer or return calls seeking comment for this story.
The EFCC had begun investigation into alleged theft of N108.1billion of Akwa Ibom funds by the former governor in June.
The action followed a petition forwarded to the commission by an Abuja-based lawyer and activist, Leo Ekpenyong.
Mr. Ekpenyong had on June 8 petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the EFCC, calling for Mr. Akpabio’s probe and accusing him of looting Akwa Ibom state treasury.

Investigations by PREMIUM TIMES showed that several other indigenes of the state who are demanding the investigation of the former governor, have been invited by the EFCC to adopt their petitions.

The party, which was reacting to a statement allegedly credited to Fayose to the effect that he would defect to the APC if his ordained Peoples Democratic Party state chairmanship aspirant failed in his bid for the job.

To this, Ajayi said, “We will not welcome him to the great and decent family in the state.

“It is better he stays back in his PDP to get it more destroyed instead of coming to a principled, disciplined, transparent, law-abiding and organised party like the APC.

“The Ekiti APC members know the people behind the masquerade and thereby warn people like Fayose not to turn the APC to a dumping ground where they can defect to.”

How is he not qualified to join the party of strange fellows like APC. By virtue of PDP Fayose is equally qualified to join APC otherwise should state their requirements.

4. E – A parent is an *EXAMPLE:* Some time ago, someone told me how a parent called the school the child was, to ask if someone can be allowed to write the examination for the daughter. The truth is that the parent who made that call is not a good example. Tomorrow that child will also engage in cheating and cutting corners to make it in life. Moreover, be conscious of how you behave in their presence, what you wear, the way you drive and the kind of music you listen and dance to including the television programmes you watch. Remember action speaks louder than words.

5. N – A parent is *NEUTRAL:* Don’t show favouritism amongst your children as it will lead to jealousy and unhealthy rivalry.

6. T – A parent is a *TRAINER:* The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 as follows, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. The training starts when they are still children not teenagers. As such stop the procrastination and begin to train them now.

So parents, it is my heart's desire that this information will enable us to become better parents as we put them into practice.
