The likes of Heath Ledger and currently Robbert pattison faced/are facing huge backlash too...

The backlash was not the reason for Affleck's alcoholism and other issue IMO. He had always had this issh long ago and had affected his marriage previously.

One thing I have noticed between Scott Mendelson and Mark Hughes is; the later is mostly there for DC while the former lean towards.....should I say MCU or Neutral? They are both there to complements each other views. That's the way I view articles they penned out for Forbes.
