That’s why nigeria won’t grow, we don’t grow our passion, all we need is Business, start a business. Allow the young man do the adventure. Life is a risk, out there in the other world it’s different, been in England change my perception about life out there in Nigeria, in Nigeria, it all about how to survive not how to improvise.. I may not sound all good to you but this is the basic truth, we didn’t grow up to go after what we passionate about but how to survive
His best option is still to stay here and make more money, what makes you think he got the 20.3m legitimately here or you're waiting for him to spill everything on a thread, the problem you people have is that you never invest in your home, always looking for what's not lost.

A combination of no. 2 and 1 will be the best choice... You don't necessary need to build in your home town per say, you have to observe the environment that favours the kind of business you wanna run

Hello dear nairalanders.

Please I'm going through a state of mental confusion.

Currently i have approximately 20 million and 300 thousand naira in my bank account.

I have two thoughts.

1) I am 25 years old but I'm not a university graduate, i only have ND (National deploma) from a polytechnic In Edo state, Auchi precisely.

I would have become a graduate years ago but after my "ND" years ago, i refused to go back to school and i decided to hustle for money.

Most of my classmates in school back then are all graduates but all the same, looking at my bank account now, i have no regrets.

So this is what i plan on doing.

1) Can i further my Education In any university in the United States with the money and plan on staying back after my degree, for the fact that I'm 25.
Will that be advisable?

2) should i stay back in Nigeria and use part of the money to build a house In my hometown in Benin and use the rest for business?

3) Is there a chance of going to USA and start all over again, look for job.
Will the money be enough to rent a house, foot some bills untill i see a job in the USA.

Note i choose USA only because it's my dream country, I'm not scared of the traveling ban because I'm 100% confident that it will be taken away few months from now.

Please i won't be replying any mention or questions.

All i want is to take note of good advice.

I already know a reliable traveling agent.

Please other suggestions are welcomed apart from mine.

People with N3m or less have traveled to the USA and succeeded big time. You have N20.3m. The best investment you can ever make is investing in yourself. If you're sure of your agent won't dupe you and can get a student visa for schooling there, you better fly there. You can be schooling and working part-time, in 3 years, you graduate, do your masters, marry one white girl get your stay and enjoy the good life for yourself and your generations to come. They will thank you for taking that bold step and you will be happy with yourself. Invest the N20m where? Invest in this shithole that is full of uncertainty, no security and anti-business government policies Dictator Buhari will soon devalue the naira after destroying the economy, let's see what your N20m will be worth by then. People abroad are praying it happens, so they can send $10k home and build house in banana island with it cheesy don't you want to be among them. If I had your opportunity, and a legit means to leave, I will JAPA straight cheesy

I did not advise him. I said "if I was in his shoes". If it was me.

I did not say "he should" instead I said "I will".

He is not me. Read between the lines always and understand all context before quoting.

Why do almost all Nigerians abroad always advise people to stay back? And you. Yourself has not returned back to Nigeria if it is so bad there.. The fella above is not an ajebo, I believe he burnt the midnight candle to make such ''kudi''... Bros I would advise you to try Canada/Australia or Germany with that. Money. Go there and find a way to learn more in the ICT field and I promise you will. Be alright once you acclimatise and get a good job in that profession. Your side hustle that gave you 20m may still be getting you money there too

because truthfully, its not easy out dere...with 20million u can build something in naija...but u see outside dere, first your 20million isn't much of a money, then u gotta work your ass like a broke man to get something. And for a non graduate as this,it'll be even tougher. I see no reason to go down dis path...america can wait,it's no promise land,it's just a country

There is a reason why i choose USA.

Because of my career in entertainment.

In school back in the days, i was a member of the drama group, so I'm good in acting and in music.

I feel USA gives me the opportunity to drive into entertainment.

To enter into the entertainment industry in the US you have to be exceptional and unique;
You have to give them something they can't get elsewhere cheaper.

I suggest you enroll into the New York Film Academy, it will open up to you opportunities and attention you cannot get anywhere else.

But then average annual fees for the school is around 56,000 US Dollars.
Which is a little more than your 20 Million Nigerian Naira grin grin grin

To be able to pull off this dream of yours successfully you have to become the kind of person that does the IMPOSSIBLE.

A safer but less interesting option is to stay in Nigeria and start a business (Go LEAN, pull off a business with 1 to 3 million and make reasonable profits(15% of your initial investment is okay) and grow from there ).

The Nigerian Business ecosystem offers you a hard and painfully slow but UNLIMITED growth opportunities (Ask Dangote) grin

How did you make the N20million? if it's through fraud you are destined to squander it but if it's through hard work you will automatically know what to do with it.

With 20 Million Naira.. build a house and establish yourself in Nigeria. Once your business set, you can always visit U.S and come back..

Here is why using the 20m to hustle U.S is a bad idea..

Forget about travel agents, they will just take your money, there are no guarantees in issuing non immigrant visas.. but let's say you were successful.. by the end of the day , you might be out 1m naira.. then travelling to U.S to " hussle" remember you dont have the correct document to get legitimate work, so you will end up depleting your resources..

If you enter school, your tuition will be out of state/international student rate which is substantially higher . Now after school, your war chest (finances) will be severely depleted. Remember you still dont have green card and such not that many company wants to go into the trouble of hiring you to work for them and your finances will be almost non existent at the time.

But if you build a house in 9ja, at least you have something to show for yourself and then you can establish a business, you could always vacation to U.S and come back or if you find a legit way to secure a green card, then you can make your move... remember the house in 9ja and your business still dey for 9ja.

Please dont quote me, I am not feeling fine...

A better option will be to apply for the Canadian skilled worker, get a permanent residence in Canada. You can then start a business in Nigeria and shuttle to Canada at will, that way you wont be testing the waters with both feet.

Many Nigerians are coming back home to build start ups while many others are leaving too.

But with 20 million, I would advise you to open a good business in Nigeria.
The returns in Nigeria is mad if you enter the right business.

If your business grow to a level, you can buy an American citizenship with $500000 in the future and travel anywhere you want and sponsor your family anywhere they want.

Let him travel to the US to further his education. Marry there and have his kids there. Remember that a correct child born as an American citizen is equivalent or worth a Nigerian minister. Thats another side to his investment. Then while in America, let the experience you have had in huzzling out N20Million in Nigeria never desert you. You will make huge success.

MrStan11:
My dear,
Don't ever think of starting any business with your hard earned money.
Run now that you can.
Not just for your sake but for the sake of your unborn kids.

Its a decision your kids will forever be grateful for.

But make sure you travel using Academic means because it saves you from stress.

Ignore anybody telling you to start a business,
Most of them are salary earners and have no knowledge of killin dem atmosphere especially for new businesses

20million is just $56,600.

With a master degree in STEM in USA, you will make that money in 6-7 month before tax.

If you have a sure way of leaving Nigeria to either Canada or USA, you better take the chances now.

Facebook for example give signing bonus ranging from $56,000 - $100,000. Let me paraphrase this, it means when you get a job from Facebook, they pay you this amount for just agreeing to work for them.
Which one is STEM.

Give me that money, I'll complete my late father's house with about 2 million naira then rent it out. Then I'll buy acres of land in remote places where land can be gotten at ridiculously cheap prices and just go into cocoa, plantain, palm kernel etc farming. Then I'll go into food and cleaning business. Change go still remain for oo.
Bro you had better stay back at home and do business. Just pray, think well on the business to do and be patient, don't eat with all your fingers and be consistent. Don't be scared of taking risks and losing. 25 million is a whole lot of money, don't mismanage it and no go carry girls when you don start oooo. I'm curious though.

Dont listen to anybody telling you to stay back in nigeria and start a business. Most of them advising you to do so have never made 500k of their own.

If I were you I'll take quarter of the money and invest in bitcoin. Keep 10mil for your travel plans... use the rest and repackage yourself.

op, if you had taken this advice back in February, by now you would have made at least double the amount invested in btc. Well, I hope you did. cool
