Wonderfully Made
TEXT: Psalm 139:7-18

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:14).

A writer asked: "Do you ever wake up, take a good look in the mirror, and tell yourself 'No doubt about it - I'm fearfully and wonderfully made?' May be when you think about the person you are, words like 'average' or 'not bad' come to your mind... "If you ever consider yourself unremarkable or even ordinary, you are not seeing yourself as God's creation. When we discover the truth that we are God's unique design, it is overwhelming." How do you really see yourself?

Our text says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Imagine the divine creativity that went into designing and making you from head to toe, a unique masterpiece! Like the Psalmist, you should also praise God for making you in His own image with His divine attributes. God expects you to love Him with all your heart, soul and mind, (Matthew 22:37). God also expects you to serve Him and bring the unsaved to Him. To accomplish God's expectations, you must repent of all your sins today, surrender your life to Christ and live a consistent holy life.

Quote: "Created in God's image."

Chɑllenge: "You are fearfully and wonderfully made to glorify God."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord to reflect your glory in my life."

Peter Walks On Water
TEXT: Matthew 14:23-34

"And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus" (Matthew 14:29).

A writer wrote, "Jesus called Peter to come to Him. Deciding it was safer in the storm with Jesus than in the boat without Him, Peter walked towards Him. But there is always a moment after you step out in faith when you hear, 'What if I am not up to this?' "Peter heard it and the waves began to engulf him. Panicking, he called and Jesus immediately rescued him...Peter wasn't drowning; he was learning and growing! When you walk by faith, even your failures will lead to success. So, step out with Jesus; He won't let you down." What an encouragement for Christian youths!

Beloved, are you afraid of the upheavals of life, perhaps your ship is tossed by waves in the midst of the sea? Like Peter, step out and walk by faith focusing on Jesus only. He will turn your failures to success, your doubts to faith, your weakness to strength and your timidity to boldness. Do not allow doubt and unbelief to cripple your faith. Learn to walk by faith always and you will conquer.

Quote: "Step out with Jesus."

Chɑllenge: "Walk by faith focusing on Jesus alone."

Prɑyer: "Help me O God, to avoid faithlessness in Jesus' name."

Pitiable Pilate
TEXT: Matthew 27:19-26

"When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it" (Matthew 27:24).

Tom Fuller wrote that: "Pilate was one of the most pitiable figures in all history. He was a pawn in the hands of the religious leaders in Israel... The religious leaders also...got the crowd to go along with their deed and pushed Pilate over the edge."

Disregarding his conscience and his wife's warning, Pilate unjustifiably condemned innocent Jesus to be crucified, washing his hands in hypocrisy. It is no wonder that Dr. C. I. Scofield declared, "The cross is the judgment of this world." All hypocrites need to review their sinful lifestyles and repent. Beloved Christian, God expects you to earnestly contend for the faith always. Make your Christian stand known to all. You must not allow the crowd's pressure to push you into sin. Be bold to say no to mob demonstrations, rebellion against school authorities, cheating in tests and exams, and other sinful acts. These lead to eternal damnation. Be faithful to God; reject every manipulation to do evil and God will reward you beyond your imagination.

Quote: "Earnestly contend for the faith."

Chɑllenge: "Reject every manipulation to do evil."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord not to yield to negative group pressure."

In Storms With The Saviour
TEXT: Mark 4:35-41

"And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?" (Mark 4:38).

Albertus Pieters wrote about Old Pete whose little education did not deny him of a good understanding of the Bible. He quoted Old Pete thus: "If God will take me to the mouth of hell and say to me, 'Here you go, Pete; this is where you belong.' "I would say to Him, That's true Lord, I do belong there, but if you make me go to that place, Your Dear Son Jesus Christ must go with me. He and I are now one, and we cannot be separated anymore." What a challenging assertion for Christian youths! Are you one with Christ?

Our text reveals that Christ was in the storm with His disciples. They called upon Him and were delivered. You may be experiencing storms in your life - admission disappointments, academic difficulties, failure, financial challenges, illness, rejection, or persecution. Jesus may not always prevent these challenges but has promised you His unfailing presence and help. Like Old Pete, remain one with Christ; and like His disciples, call upon Him in trouble and He will still your storms.

Quote: "Earnestly contend for the faith."

Chɑllenge: "Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go."

Prɑyer: "Arise O Lord and calm the storms of my life."

Exemplary Life Of Christ
TEXT: John 13:3-10

"After that He poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciplesfeet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded... For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you" (John 13:5, 15).

Max Lucado asked: "What would your life be like, even for one day, if you were to think and act like Jesus? If His priorities governed your actions, His passions drove your decisions, and His love directed your behaviour? What would you be like? Would people notice the change in you? Would your family see something new?... Pause and think about your schedule, obligations, engagements, outings and appointments. With Jesus fully in control, would these all change?" Adoniran Judson seems to accept this challenge as he says: "I want to be like Christ... Follow Him only, copy His teachings, drink in His Spirit, and place my feet in His footprints... Oh, to be more like Christ." Oh, what a challenge to all Christians!

Our text presents the humility of Christ as He washes His disciples' feet. Beloved, you must be humble like Christ. To accomplish this, denounce self and pride, pray daily for grace to be like Christ in all areas of your life: at home, school and in the community. In so doing, you will please God and draw others to Christ.

Quote: "Oh, to be more like Christ."

Chɑllenge: "Pray daily for the grace to be humble like Christ."

Prɑyer: "Lord, I want to be like Jesus in every area of my life."

Penitent Sinner
TEXT: Acts 2:29-38

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38).

Benjamin Keach stated: "Sin is a vast debt, considering what wrong it had done to God. It is a crossing of His will, a violation of His sovereignty and dominion, a defacing of His image, resisting of His Spirit, abuse of His patience, a slighting of all His love, mercy and goodness. Sin is a great debt, because all men, yea all saints of the earth nor angels of heaven can pay its debt. Sin is a vast debt because it exposes the sinner to eternal wrath and vengeance." The solution? Penitence!

Penitence is the feeling of regret or sorrow for sin or wrongdoing. The gathered sinners on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem felt guilty and were penitent after hearing Peter's message. "What shall we do?" was their cry. The answer also came from Peter as our Bible text states: "Repent."

Yes, there is good news for all! Jesus has paid the debt for our sins. Acknowledge and confess your sins now in penitence and He will receive you, make you holy, and empower you to live a victorious fruitful life.

Quote: "Jesus paid the debt for your sins."

Chɑllenge: "Repent of your sins today and live for Christ."

Prɑyer: "Oh God, forgive me my sins in Jesus' name."

Water Of Life
TEXT: Revelations 22:1-7

"And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb" (Revelations 22:1).

The need and value of potable water for human consumption is inestimable. Although 70 percent of the world is covered with water, only about one percent is fit for human consumption. In developing nations, about six to eight million, mostly children, die annually from water borne diseases. To solve the problem of impure water, individuals and communities resort to sinking boreholes at exorbitant costs because water is life and the human body needs it to function. Our text reveals a pure river of water of life flowing from the throne of God. Wouldn't you desire this divine water of life?

Yes, there is the water of life flowing from God's throne. It gives life to those who drink it, and it will flow forever. Its purity and clarity speaks of absence of sin, symbolizing cleansing from sin. They point to the quickening and sanctifying influence of the Holy Spirit. To partake of this pure water of life, you must be saved by confessing and forsaking your sins now. Salvation opens the door to holiness, all-round success and access to the water of life.

Quote: "Partake of God's water of life."

Chɑllenge: "Be saved and drink of God's pure water of life."

Prɑyer: "Holy Father, give me this pure water, in Jesus' name."

Friendly Enemy
TEXT: 2 Samuel 16:15-23

"And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?" (2 Samuel 16:17).

Wikipedia describes a friendly enemy as: "A person who combines the characteristics of a friend and an enemy." Someone said: "Friends are a very special and precious assets to have, especially when they have your best interest at heart. Many others treat you badly but act as if they like you. They act safe but hurt you as an enemy in disguise." Isn't this the case with David and Ahitophel; Julius Caesar and Brutus; and our Lord Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot? Have you ever been betrayed or hurt by a close friend?

Dear Christian friend, beware of the friends you keep. Norman Macdonald warns; "Your worst and most dangerous enemy is the person who injures you under the pretension of friendship." Watch out for friendly enemies who would want to involve you in examination malpractice, drug use, cult activities, immoral practices, or any sin whatsoever. Avoid such friends and save your soul from eternal destruction. Consecrate your life to God, saturate yourself with God's Word, pray for God's guidance, and God will keep you from friendly enemies.

Quote: "Watch out for friendly enemies."

Chɑllenge: "Beware of the friends you keep."

Prɑyer: "Deliver me, O Lord, in Jesus' from false friends."

Deceitful Kisses
TEXT: Proverbs 27:1-7

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" (Proverbs 27:6).

Joosten M. warns, "The kisses of an enemy are sweeter than honey, but their end is bitter as gall. The lie inevitably leads to ravaging and destruction. We can count on the fact that the father of the lie is bent on our devastation... As the prince of the power of the earth, he will enlist the whole of the sinful world against us, and through them he whispers his sweet lies. "We can hear it in the entertainments of the world. We can mark it in the culture. We perceive it in reading her philosophy. We are continually exposed to it in the advertising of the world." Dear Christian youth, who are your friends?

Our text says, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." Beware of the kisses of enemies who masquerade as friends. Reject them, but entertain the counsel of friends who are concerned about your spiritual well being. Allow God to guide you in the choice of your friends and you will escape deceitful kisses of enemy-friends.

Quote: "Beware of the kisses of enemies."

Chɑllenge: "The wound of a faithful friend is for your good."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to appreciate faithful and godly friends."

Good Manners
TEXT: Luke 14:7-14

"But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee" (Luke 14:10).

A story was told of a student in an African University. He was from a rich family and was comfortable. His wealthy disposition made him pompous, proud, rude and bad mannered. He craved for popularity and was loud in his appearance.

One day, he was invited to a party, and he in his pomposity sat in the front seat reserved for special dignitaries. Before the party commenced, he was ordered to vacate the front seat to the back. This attracted booing from the crowd to his utter embarrassment. He disgracefully left the party for home. Indeed, haughtiness leads to a fall.

Beloved, it pays to be humble. Hear this: "...for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble" (1 Peter 5:5). Humility is a prime characteristic of the good mannered, but you need to know Christ to be humble. You can receive Christ now as you acknowledge and confess your sins to Him. He will receive you and give you His divine nature of humility. This will enable you to imbibe good manners as a lifestyle.

Quote: "Imbibe good manners."

Chɑllenge: "Be humble: pride goes before a fall."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to be humble like Christ."

Worldly Friendship
TEXT: James 4:1-6

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" (James 4:4).

A girl gave her life to Christ at a tender age. She lived a faithful Christian life until she entered the university to read Law. In her first two years, she was fervent in her faith and fellowship. She maintained a high academic profile and enjoyed God's favour. In her third year, she joined a group of notorious wayward girls and became entrenched in social vices, to the detriment of her Christian faith and studies. Efforts to restore her to fellowship failed. Eventually, she backslid and dropped out of school. What a tragic end for a promising Christian girl! This is not funny, take heed.

"Man cannot love the world and love God," says Carl Willis. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. To remain a friend of God, flee every appearance of evil as well as boys/girls of questionable character. Reject the world and its allurements. Remain faithful to God and live a holy life. Give yourself to the Word, witnessing and prayer. Be diligent in your Christian faith and studies, and you'll be a magnet drawing other youths to Christ.

Quote: "Reject the world and its allurements."

Chɑllenge: "Have no fellowship with the world."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to live above the world and its allurements."

All Distress Calls
TEXT: Psalm 50:4-16

"And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalm 50:15).

Stanley Praimnath, a survivor of the World Trade Centre tragedy of September 11, 2011, was working on the 81st floor of the World Trade Centre South Tower when suddenly he saw an airplane flying directly towards him. Frightened, he prayed, "Lord, I can't do this! You take it over!", as he dived under a desk for cover. "Lord, I don't want to die, send somebody to help me", Stanley prayed and screamed. A worker from a nearby office, Brian Clark, heard and responded. Stanley and Brian made their way out down 80 flights of stairs to the ground floor through rubble and darkness. Stanley lived to tell his story of escape, praising God. What a challenging distress call! What a divine answer!

Life is full of troubles which can hinder peace and progress. Challenges in your endeavours and spiritual life can be frustrating. Don't accept defeat and forsake your dream. Be undaunted and faithful to God. Like Stanley Praimnath, call upon God by faith in every trouble and your victory is assured.

Quote: "Call upon God by faith in every trouble."

When Consent Is Costly
TEXT: Proverbs 1:7-16

"My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not" (Proverbs 1:10).

William Jennings Bryan, says, "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice." The choice a person makes determines his/her destiny. A certain youth, a university student, was an only child of her Christian parents. She loved her parents but hated their Christian values. She lived an immoral life with loose boys and girls at school. On one occasion, she consented to attend a party with her favourite friend. Unknown to her, some boys had planned with this favourite friend to defile her at the party. The plan was executed. Consequently, she became pregnant and dropped out of the university. What a costly consent!

A wise youth would heed the admonition of today's Bible text: "My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not." The devil is out to destroy youths by making them consent to ungodly actions like formication, evil association, drug and alcohol use, cheating in exams, and stealing. Flee the way of sinners, for it leads to hell. Surrender your life to Christ, and live for Him; heaven will be your destination.

Quote: "Flee the way of sinners."

Chɑllenge: "Do not yield to the enticement of sinners."

Prɑyer: "Gracious Lord, make me wise in my decisions."

TEXT: Exodus 36:1-8

"Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded" (Exodus 36:1).

Myles Munroe described the cemetery as a very rich place where unused talents and gifts are buried. For Bezaleel, Aholiab and every wise hearted man in our text, their God-given gifts and talents were not to be buried in the cemetery. They worked together, using their skills to design and build for God. John Wesley said: "The possessor of heaven and earth placed you where you are not as a proprietor but as a steward." As a Christian youth, you are to channel your gifts and skills to God's work with God's people.

God deposited gifts in every believer; identify yours and use them for God and humanity. Manufacturing companies, scientific and medical research centres need talented young people like you to discover new knowledge and produce cutting edge technology to match the pace of the fast changing world. Do not reserve your talents for the cemetery. Are your abilities in the area of music, intercession, writing, building or graphics? Stir them up. Be a creative and an effective team player like Bezaleel, and you will serve God and your generation well.

Quote: "Be a creative and an effective team player."

Excellence: Not An Event
TEXT: PROVERBS 31:19-31

"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all" (PROVERBS 31:29).

According to Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, "Excellence is an art won by training and habituation... We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit". In 2014, a 24 year old Nigerian, Olaoluwa Oluwadara, became the youngest African with a doctorate degree in Mathematics. Revealing the secret of his excellence, he said: "I spend time studying and researching both at home and in the school. I also have time to pray in the morning, and attend church services." Advising other youths, he said: "Never give up. Be focused, diligent, disciplined and have God at the center of all your endeavours". What a challenge to youths aspiring for excellence!

In our text, the virtuous woman excelled others because of her repeated and persistent act of love. Hard work and frugality are pivot to spiritual and academic excellence. Do not settle for mediocrity or an average performance. Determine to excel through diligence, hard work, prayer, absolute faith in God, and you will excel in all areas of your life. Excellence is not an event, but a habit. In other words, practice makes perfect.

Quote: "Determine to excel through diligence."

Chɑllenge: "Determine to excel through diligence and hard work."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to excel in all areas of my life."

Securing Mouth And Soul
TEXT: Proverbs 21:18-28

"Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles" (Proverbs 21:23).

Our text today admonishes that keeping your mouth and tongue will keep your soul from trouble. To guard the tongue, someone suggested these steps:

(1) "Think First. Before your lips start moving, pause ten seconds and mentally preview your words. Are they accurate or exaggerated, kind or cutting, necessary or needless, wholesome or vile, grateful or complaining?

(2) "Talk Less. Your chances of blowing it are directly proportional to the amount of time you spend with your mouth open. Try closing it for a while."

This was why Publius, a Greek sage, testified: "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence." Sounds familiar?

Beloved, God expects you to speak wholesome words that will edify others and glorify Him. Careless use of your tongue can destroy your soul in hell. To secure your mouth and soul, study God's Word, pray without ceasing, be busy for Christ, and speak the truth always. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, do so now, and He will help you to secure your mouth and your soul.

Quote: "Speak wholesome words always."

Chɑllenge: "Watch! An unsecured mouth and tongue can damn the soul."

Prɑyer: "Dear Lord, set a watch over my mouth."

Sweet Success
TEXT: Joshua 1:3-9

"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (Joshua 1:8).

The Oxford English Dictionary defines success as: "The attainment of one's aim or of wealth, fame, or position." Somebody explains it appropriately this way: "In life, there is good success and bad success. Bad success is the kind of success which robs you of your time with your family, friends and church, and destroys your health and relationships. "With good success, on the other hand, you see prosperity in every area of your life." Youths desire good success, which is sweet. God Himself wants His people to enjoy good success.

Our text emphasizes reading, meditating on, and obeying God's Word as key to good success. Studying God's Word will illuminate your mind, resonate your heart, and bring the truth alive in you. Commitment to God's Word assures sweet success. Also, you need to be disciplined, diligent and hard working in your studies. To benefit from God's Word and harvest good success, confess your sins and surrender your life to Christ today. He will give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding needed for good success in all areas of your life.

Quote: "God's Word assures sweet success."

Chɑllenge: "Read, meditate on, and obey God's Word."

Prɑyer: "Dear Lord, please order my steps according to Your Word."

Walk With The Wise
TEXT: Proverbs 13:13-20

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20).

Stephen Blandino opined: "To walk with the wise means you are not taking the journey of life alone. You need friends, wise friends, to walk with you. Those friends may include family members, co-workers, neighbours, leaders, coaches, mentors, and more. "The question is, are they wise? Do they exhibit love for God and people, a learning attitude, a humble heart, a moral life, the ability to listen, and a strong work ethic? If so, invest your time with those friends". This is instructive to Christian youths.

Who are your friends? Our text indicates that you walk with the wise to be wise. Companionship with fools leads to destruction. Fools don't know God, they are corrupt and abominable (Psalm 14:1). Surely, you would not want to be a companion of fools and go to hell. Walk with God like Enoch did; also, walk with the wise. God will enable you to accomplish His perfect will for your life. Henrietta Mears says: "A man who walks with God always gets to his destination". So, walk with God: you will attract followers.

Quote: "Walk with the wise and be wise."

Chɑllenge: "To be wise, walk with God and walk with the wise."

Prɑyer: "Oh God, help me to walk with the wise in Jesus' name."

Revelations Through Reading
TEXT: Daniel 9:2-5

"In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem" (Daniel 9:2).

Benjamin Franklin asserts, "There is no denying the value of a good book. From informational to entertaining... books have the power to change our perspective." A writer described Benjamin Franklin as one of the most admired figures in American history, known for his homespun wisdom and remarkable career. He had little formal education, yet he was highly respected because of his knowledge and keen insight. Benjamin was a voracious reader and an intellectually curious man who became an expert in many disciplines.

Daniel in our text acquired revelation and knowledge through reading. Apart from direct revelations from our Lord Jesus, Apostle Paul got a lot of revelations through reading of the Old Testament scriptures. You can see that from the wealth of insight available in his epistles to the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians and Ephesians.

Discipline yourself to read; there is no shortcut to gaining knowledge and insight. Make effective use of the school library, and read beyond prescribed texts. Above all, surrender your life to Christ; read, pray, and God will broaden your intellectual and spiritual horizons.

Quote: "Books have the power to change your perspective."

Chɑllenge: "Discipline yourself to read and gain knowledge and insight."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to cultivate the habit of voracious reading."

Faulty Freedom
TEXT: Luke 15:11-20

"And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living" (Luke 15:12).

Commenting on our text for meditation today, a Preacher opined: "The younger son exploded in rebellion. He knew what he wanted. His desires led him to gamble all in getting what God condemned. He loved sin. It promised satisfaction to his appetite and ambitions. It lured him by its promises. Its fascinations hypnotized him. "He had his fling. He rebelled against the father. He showed that he was dissatisfied with his father's provision, his father's restrictions and his father's guidance." Bent on pleasing himself, this young man exercised his freedom in rebellion. But it was faulty and fraught with consequences.

Do you flout godly parental counsels? Watch! "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...." (1 Samuel 15:23). You need God to direct your decisions. He knows the end of every situation from its beginning. To ensure God's leading in your life, surrender to Him without delay. As you do, He will help you to make godly choices, take wise decisions, and deliver you from faulty freedom.

Quote: "You need God to direct your decisions."

Chɑllenge: "Faulty freedom attracts grievous consequences."

Prɑyer: "Dear Lord, deliver me from self-will and rebellion."

Finding The Faithful
TEXT: Proverbs 20:5-7

"Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?" (Proverbs 20:6).

A faithful man, woman, youth, who can find? A million dollar question. God is faithful. But how about man? Many years before our text was written, men like Joseph, Moses and David had been found faithful. Comparing Jesus with Moses, the Bible says: "Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house" (Hebrews 3:2).

In contemporary times, Billy Graham dared declared that he was faithful. In his last interview he stated: "I hope I will be remembered as someone who was faithful - faithful to God, faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and faithful to the calling God gave me not only as an evangelist, but as husband, father and friend." Is not that wonderful?

As God searched for and found faithful people to work with in years gone by, so is He in search of the faithful to walk and work with Him today. Search your heart and life; are you faithful to God in your life and service? Sincerely commit your life to Christ and become one of God's faithful children in this generation.

Quote: "Become one of God's faithful children."

Chɑllenge: "Finding the faithful is finding God."

Prɑyer: "Help me Lord, to seek You with all my heart."

Tamar In Trouble
TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 13:1-14

"And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her" (2 Samuel 13:2).

On January 18, 2015, two lives were ruined. One, a young male student of Stanford University; the other a 22-year-old female student whom he raped. Both were drunk - he with filthy passion, and she with wine. He ended up in jail and she, with a scarred life.

The Amnon - Tamar story is far worse because they were siblings. Some blame Amnon's predatory instincts, others blame Tamar's naïveté and carelessness. But the real question here is, 'Amnon, Tamar, how about your hearts?' That is the heart of the matter.

An angelic face often masks a depraved heart. Amnon was a prince by birth, yes, but a pervert at heart. Then, there is a Tamar in many young girls - careless, assuming, craving male attention, yet lacking discretion. While displaying their natural endowments around like peacocks they lack divine prudence to avoid danger. Thus, the Amnon - Tamar tragedy occurs again and again today. Every youth needs spiritual regeneration which comes through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ, the only Saviour. So, let Jesus into your heart, and be made free from sin.

Quote: "An angelic face often masks a depraved heart."

Chɑllenge: "Only a heart made new can say 'No' to evil."

Prɑyer: "Dear God, keep me pure in mind and body, in Jesus' name."

Guidance For The Good
TEXT: PSALM 37:23-30

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way" (Psalm 37:23).

Have you ever used a GPS device to navigate your way? It's a marvel of technology. The navigator takes you through the twists and turns of the road network and lands you squarely at your desired destination. Although the GPS is much improved now, it has not always been error-proof.

In August 2009, a young mother and her six-year-old son became stranded in Death Valley, California. She had followed GPS directions which led her up an unpaved dead-end road. When they were found five days later, her son had died from the effects of heat and dehydration. But our God has a pin-point accurate navigation system for His trusting children.

Decision-making is a regular fact of life. At that juncture, many young people trust their future to mere chance or "luck". They are torn between friends' recommendations on social media, the wish of parents and the bandwagon effect in school or society..Only a precious few ever consider seeking God in prayer for divine guidance. Many end up with shameful scars instead of being shining stars. Decision is destiny, put yours in God's hands.

Quote: "God has a pin-point accurate navigation system."

Chɑllenge: "Entrust your future into God's hands."

Prɑyer: "Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, Amen."

The Incarnate Christ
TEXT: John 1:1-14

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

The words of Colin M. Morris sum up the essence of Christ's incarnation more than those of others. He wrote, "Action is always superior to speech in the Gospels, which is why the Word became flesh and not newsprint."

The Incarnate Christ means God dwelling among men in human form. The Son of God became the Son of Man so that sons of men could become sons of God. That was the miracle of God's Redemption Plan.

What does Christ's death on the cross mean? He was the Just One bearing the guilt and punishment of the unjust. Christ's death provides for the unjust to become the pardoned, and the guilty ones to become the godly.

But there is an equally great miracle, it is Christ dwelling in the heart of the truly saved youth. That is the believer's incarnational witness, the beauty of a real Christian life. Christ empowers the Christian youth to live and act righteously in the midst of a corrupt society. Loud profession of Christianity cannot replace the necessity of a Christ-like life. "Don't talk about it, be about it," someone said.

Quote: "The Son of God became the Son of Man."

Chɑllenge: "Christ living within is real Christianity."

Prɑyer: "Lord, let me be Your epistle that the world can read."
