May this time be one of outward focus; seeking you in those we often ignore. Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter. Give us hearts hungry to serve you and those who need what we have to give. While fasting with the body, brothers and sisters, let us also fast in spirit. Let us lose every bond of iniquity; let us undo the knots of every contact made by violence; let us tear up all unjust agreements; let us give bread to the hungry and welcome to our house the poor who have no roof to cover them, that we may receive mercy from Christ our God. Lord we need you most in Nigeria today. May this Lenten season unite us more because we are more divided than we can ever think. May we know that Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, Efik etc are one body in Christ Jesus. May we humble ourselves and take every tribe in Nigeria as human. May we kill the tribal animosity which have eaten deep into our souls. We pray for the victims of Boko Haram, herdsmen, SARS, and other violent group that have caused tears in the eyes of many families, that they may find comfort in Christ. We ask God for His Mercy and forgiveness in Nigeria, and pray that He may bless us with Good leaders that will have the interest of the masses in their heart.
