Consumer 1: Discos: 0, this scoreline is only in the new league season. The last league season score was: Consumer 0 : Discos: 100. That was very painful season. We are just praying that Discos will not bribe referee for this game or turn VAR against us. So team Consumer abeg watch out!!!

Best news so far. Those people are thieves and crooks when i was on estimated bills i was ususuall charged between 11,500 and 13,500 current charge when we finally go metered after putting up so much fight we hardly consume 2,000 monthly. sometimes even less depending on the frequency of lights. i feel like tearing them off each time i see all the previous payments.

If you live in an area where they don’t use prepaid meters, your power supply will drop drastically.

Power supply will only favour areas that use the prepaid meter system.

The energy cap puts a maximum limit on your Disco. They can't bill you more than the cap unless you are metered.

Check your energy caps below.

It remains depending on a lot of factors.

A substation always has sophisticated equipment to trip off automatically when there is lightening. Secondly, substation operators have operating manuals and instruments that guide them in deciding when to switch off due to wind, temperature and other things if the system doesn't.

Most times, we see light trips off a miliseconds before lightening strikes or when rain turns to a windstorm.

Windstorm usually causes overhead wires to short circuit leading to failures.

In general, we get more electriicity during rain season. I assume due to lower transformer and cable temperatures.

why must 9ja own be different.
when i was in Ghana upon thunderstorm and rain fall the light did not blink.

Nonsense!...NERC just want to finally kill off the discos, even those with the metering units still shunt the lines, leaving just the lighting units hooked to the meter while connecting the heavy appliances to the bypassed loop.....how do they want these guys to remain solvent for heaven's sake.

Power theft is a serious problem unless that is fixed by all stakeholders, estimated billings should be left alone cos that's how the discos break even.

You must be crazy. So, innocent consumers should bear the brunt of the inefficiency of the discos? Why can't they work with the NERC and law enforcement to deal with those engaged in power theft?

They refuse to give meters so that they can engage in estimated billing and you're here talking nonsense.

Why are Telcos not complaining about data theft? Discos have zero previous experience in power distribution and that is what they are suffering now. Their man know man can't help them.

Good one, but they should also make sure the prepaid meters don't run fast.

I felt relieved with this news.

Disco's have since realized that electricity consumers are smart especially with new power saving electric equipment allowing consumers to pay far less when metered than when arbitrary estimate are made.

Disco's resort to giving their agents target just like banks do, in other to meet up, agents use bureaucratic means to hinder delivery of meters then over estimate bills of consumers who have the will to keep up with payments.

The development of this country lingered so long cos some officials failed to do their jobs.
If all houses have prepaid meters , energy wastage will be reduced by more than 20%.

Wrong law the right law should be any building without a meter should not be allowed access to electricity talk less of taping the line. Any home disobeying this law should be billed N5M with payment due date of a maximum of 3 weeks.

Failure to compile with this law the house should be auctioned immediately for Disco to recoup it N5M n whatever is left paid to the owner of the house.

Will customers also pay the N1,800 any month there wasn't electricity? I don't know what is so difficult with forcing discos to give prepaid meters. If there are no meters, don't bill anything. Let the discos be at loss with their inability to provide prepaid meters.

We have 24hx30days in a month to make 720h assuming you have light 24/7. Every area has its monthly average which they use to calculate the estimated bill.
