shogsman: What a foolish answer from the son of motherless goat! The EFFCC is a throwback to the days of slavery! No accountability, no decency and full of rogue officers including you. Your punctuations are terrible, your sentences are grammatically flawed! You are nothing but a motor park tout hiding under the umbrella of the ever corrupt EFFC dishing out selective justice! So who are those people we am seeing outside. Are they guests or victims of kidnappers. The Efcc should at least give us the ideal location of that place I am seeing |

I am sure Nairaland has lost one of its resident tribalist. I sure hope it's one of the popular ones who spew nothing but hatred and bitterness for other tribes here. Hopefully, it is the one that keeps coming here to open new accounts just to cancel other people's post out of joblessness and an empty mind with nothing to say. |

shogsman: Just like the animalistic behavior of the efcc, they tag everyone a yahoo boy. Justice will catch up with all your folks who are power drunk and intimidating people all in the name of security operatives! In a saner clime, you’ll never see the light of day. Conclusively, I will ‘Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.’ |

But in reality, the despicable state of Nigerian law enforcement holding cells are worst than that. Hapless Nigerian spend more time locked up in extremely congested police awaiting trial dungeons across the country than the maximum time they would have gotten for the so-called crimes committed. It is a lawless country with no precedents, laws, policies, regulations, basic rights, privileges and structures that that shapes and transforms society. Panti. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 11:25am On Feb 28, 2020 |
SmartyPants:It is not the duty of EFCC to investigate detention facilities. Why didn't the liar tell us which agency it belongs to? People will become apathetic to similar news in the future because this idiot failed to do his job. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by SmartyPants(m): 11:28am On Feb 28, 2020 |
Xisnin: He may have made a mistake in his reporting but his point was not about EFCC, it was about the treatment of Nigerians. Secondly, there are no grounds for arresting him. What he did does not even reach the threshold of defamation. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 11:28am On Feb 28, 2020 |
BanevsJoker:Your analogy does not follow. If you reported that ISWAP attacks the government house when the target is actually an event center, you deserve to be arrested. It is better to not specify when you are not sure. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by BanevsJoker(m): 11:31am On Feb 28, 2020 |
Xisnin:But shouldn't you focus on the fact there was a terrorist attack? I mean, which one is a bigger crime? Mass murder or human error? |

Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 2:29pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
SmartyPants: If the accusation does not meet the threshold of defamation according to you, then there is no reason why anybody should care about the news. If he had accused the Nigerian police of operating the center, most people won't even bother to react as we expect worse behavior from them. The aim of the guy was to paint EFCC in a bad light and he succeeded. This is a classic case of defamation. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 2:40pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
BanevsJoker:We do not know if this is a human error or deliberate malice. A terrorist attack is a serious crime but it is not some super-secret affairs that only a few are privy to. What should have been a backlash against the real operators of the center has now been turned into a fake news offense. Remember the recently killed Kaka? If someone had wrongly accused the navy of killing him, the case would have been reduced to accusations and counter-accusations and if the navy were able to show they had nothing to do with it and were able to arrest the originator of the accusation, then people can't focus on the crime itself but the purveyor of the fake attribution. In short, the SARS officer will still be employed, the closed SARS offices would still be in operation and the IG wouldn't even bother to do an eye service. This liar of a guy has done more harm than good since nobody will ever be held responsible due to his impulsivity. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by BanevsJoker(m): 2:42pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
Xisnin:Makes sense. Still, they should investigate the agency responsible if it's not EFCC. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by SmartyPants(m): 2:56pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
Xisnin: Sir, the threshold of defamation is a legal -- not common sense -- concept. If you don't have legal knowledge, kindly disengage at this point. This is not a battle for you. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 3:19pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
SmartyPants:Throwing around words doesn't make you look smart to knowledgeable people. You mentioned defamation without context or any idea of EFCC's next move. It is not for you to decide what meets which legal criteria, that shouldn't be too hard for a legal luminary should it? As you rightly said, stick to what you know! |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by SmartyPants(m): 3:27pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
Xisnin: Lol. But of course it is not for me to determine whether it meets legal criteria sir. It is a fact that it does not because what he did falls under the fair comment exception because it was made without malice/the maker of the statement believed it to be true. I don't know why i would need to have an idea of EFCC's next move to know what defamation is or isn't. |
Re: Dikeocha Chukwuebuka: EFCC Arrests Blogger Behind Fake ‘EFCC Cell’ Tweet by Xisnin(m): 3:51pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
SmartyPants:Again, you arrogate the responsibility of a judge by declaring the false statement to be a protected fair comment. The bold is your opinion and nobody will take the opinion of a defendant's lawyer as the law itself. Why do we even have the courts if anyone could just read the law books and summarily decide a case based on their understanding? Believing a statement to be true does not exempt you from libel. No one will ever be convicted if such were the case. The blogger's post was clearly malicious whether it is fair is a different question. |
