CORONAVIRUS NIGERIA!! WHAT ABOUT ALL THE PASSENGERS ON THE FLIGHT WITH THE ITALIAN? HAVE THEY BEEN CHECKED? WAS HE NOT IDENTIFIED IN ITALY AS A CARRIER OF THE VIRUS BEFORE TRAVELLING? ARE THEY NO MONITORING UNITS AT THE NIGERIAN AIRPORTS? NIGERIA SHOULD NOT JOKE WITH THIS VIRUS OR POLITICIZE IT IN ANYWAY. SEND THAT ITALIAN BACK HOME, NO SENTIMENTS. |

Bizibi:Hahahaha. UK was probably the first European country to declare it within its shores. That was 3 weeks ago. Ask Trump how many cases and counting in his country. In any case, you can view this list for an overview.

OZAOEKPE:This equipment shown only checks temperature. And I'm not sure everyone shows the same symptoms. The virus also has a long incubation period - up to 27 days before showing any symptoms. The best past about this virus is that it's transmittable during this period where it shows NO SIGNS. This slow government is the perfect environment for the China Virus. |

Commentor:No, it has nothing to do with anxiety. Failure to realize that everyone (including Buhari) is liable to steal is why we remain among earth's most perpetually corrupt nations. You don't commit a nation's resources in the hands of a few simply because you expect them to be morally upright. Proactive measures (from the period of employment to retirement), and reactions through enforcement of laws and order are the key ingredients. Private sector organizations are not f00ls, ya know? They tell you to present guarantors, and ensure you sign bond and undertaking before employment. Businesses are not built on morality. Everyone is a potential thief. |

The incubation period for the virus is 14days, airport screening only works for people showing symptoms after the incubation period. People with early infection cannot be detected with airport scanners. Besides the scanners are testing for body temperature. |

Acidosis:Private sector, you mean like banks? Can we count the number of cases of theft or connivance with criminals using banks as an example? Many have been caught and sentenced, yet many more indulge. Just like drinking is a culture in certain climes, corruption is an endemic culture in Nigeria and a lot stems from the low GDP per capita. Should the society embrace production and creativity, the average joe would find less reason to grease the palms of public officials who would in turn have further respect for themselves as time goes by. |

Commentor:Not all travelers sir. Some countries have higher records of the virus/death per infected and Italy is one of them. Travelers from those countries should be quarantined! Travelers from South Korea, Japan, and Iran should be quarantined or isolated in their homes/rooms and under government watch while flights from China should be banned totally got now because even the Chinese are discouraging foreigners from their country now. See what US and Japan are doing with passengers on cruise ships ![]() |

Commentor:Corruption is a global issue that's why we have an international, not national, organization like Transparency International. It is true corruption exists in the private sector but how many customers have forfeited their savings because of corruption? Can we compare the stats to the volume of resources the average citizen forfeits in the public sector? Has any ATM machine ever ask you for bribe before withdrawal? Has any teller or bank Manager? Now relate this to your experiences in the public sector (police, customs, airport, CAC, even public and state universities). The stats can never be on the same page because unlike the public sector, the average customer knows the right places to report such issues to, he's confident of getting justice, and with more technology, human communication has become minimal. Advanced countries are less corrupt because of technology. The banker is also aware that failure to remain diligent and upright will cost him his job. Where are the corrupt bankers of yesterday? Sacked, yeah? Where are the corrupt public officers of yesterday? Some of them are governors and president today. |

GamalNasser:Dreaming is free. An anonymous forum allows for all sorts of chest beating, especially from your ilk. On all counts of human development indices there is no comparison. That's the reason, I'm at peace with government while you display your frustration everyday. The government is not responsible for your challenges. If you think back, it is actually an inherited trait. Mgbeke. |

backnbeta:On a cruise ship that had a confirmed case, common sense suggested the people be quarantined. Are you aware that being European means you have free travel across all of Europe in many cases? I have a French colleague who lives on the border with Spain and his home airport is in Barcelona. What do you suggest happens to his likes? You cannot stop international travel until this is declared a global pandemic. We may yet reach that stage but as of today, free movement is still guaranteed in most cases. |
