Danielnino00:one of the lead doctors during the Ebola case is the lead doctor on this case as well Nigerians are just panicking because Nigerians like to panic. I personally don't think it is as bad as many think it is, so far so good, aside the Italian, no one else has been confirmed to have the virus and no deaths have been recorded. The Italian is said to be in stable condition, the lead doctor and the Minister of Health were even pictured conversing with the Italian, without even as much as a face mask. I know some Nigerians think themselves more knowledgeable than medical personnel, but if a whole doctor did not think a facemask necessary in the presence of such a patient, then really, what is the panic for? I like to think the black man's immune system is superior to that of other races. |

TheSuperNerd:Doc, is it that Corona is dead on arrival in Nigeria or in Lagos?. These are two different things. Be specific. I work in one of the Lassa fever treatment centres (not in Lagos). We go through hell here |

Well said jare. You are informed. And spot on at the bolded. Infact, I don't know mehn.. you need to be kissed. I don't understand why Nigerians generally especially those who don't know anything about anything are always on the over-sabi train. This Virus is the least lethal of all the three Coronaviruses that the world have seen. SARS H1N1 was much more deadly in fact yet it was beaten. It is well jare. Well said again. I love the way you take your time to research matters Safari. You dey make me smile. ![]() **Okay back to football..** safarigirl: |

Lol... I get what you mean. Since Lagos is the first point of contact just like Ebola was...then yes, it is dead on arrival in Lagos and hopefully by extension in Nigeria too. I know of two chinese Nationals quarantined in Plateau state but still no case of infection among Nigerians. Look, we are on this. It is well. Don't panic. Just keep your hygiene going. Wash your hands after doing anything dirty and stay hydrated. Clementoke: |

TheSuperNerd:The incubation period of the virus is 14 days. He barely came few days ago. He made contact with people in the plane, at the airport and on the way. He could have bought some items on his way to Ogun state and exchanged money with unsuspecting individuals. It is a wide matrix. Too early to predict that there is no outbreak. |

It is not a prediction. It is a statement of fact as things stand now. No report of any Nigerian infected anywhere across the country. The Italian is not even in a critical state. So yes, there is no actual outbreak just yet. This Virus is not even scary. AllforJesus7: |

safarigirl:You are one of the few that know better...people here really know less about the virus. Many think you must die when you get it. The virus has about 2% fatality rate...which means about 2 in 100 that gets it is likely to die. About 95% recover from it. Recovery depends on the individual. Female are more likely to survive, old people are more likely to die, kids mysteriously don't get affected like others, also people that smoke or have pre-existing lungs problem are more likely to die...due to the fact that it is a flu virus which attacks the lungs. I am surprise with the ignorance I see here. Many think getting the virus is certain death when it doesn't have 100% fatality rate. The death rate is not due to how potent the virus is but how easy it spreads. Meaning more people can easily get it. Its sister Coronaviruses like SARS and MERS had worse fatality rate but were hard to pass from human to human.... I blame the media, they focus on just deaths but not those that recover. There are even people that show milder symptoms compared to others and the virus don't kill them...Every Info is up there in the internet but people prefer the rumor messages and the WhatsApp messages...since the outbreak of Coronavirus I have seen a lot of misinformation..someone here was even saying it renders a male impotent.... It is not surprising, during Ebola outbreak all most everyone did the salt water therapy that eventually killed some hypertensive people...We should try and be less gullible and ignorant...all the info you need is at your finger tips |

TheSuperNerd:Report by who? This government lol? Kindly show me first reports that the 200 or thereabout indexed contacts with the Italian have been isolated and tested one after the other. On the Diamond Princess cruise ship every individual was grounded and tested progressively. The more they tested the more the number of infected people increased TheSuperNerd:Doesn't matter. He is still infectious. TheSuperNerd:Well WHO has declared it a world emergency as at today. You seem to know more than them. Conclusion: Early days for Nigeria. There are chances some individuals may have been infected but still in the incubation stage of the virus. We pray this isn't the case. |

AllforJesus7:yhe average Nigerian is programmed to be pessimistic about the government, so, this is an expected response from you But, if you think the government is treating with kid gloves, a disease that could affect them just as much as it can the average Nigerian, then I must tell you, you have the wrong impression This disease is even more deadly for those advanced in age, and this administration is filled with this category of people, so, bear in mind, they will be doing everything possible to ensure they are alive to chop all the loot they will be gathering from WHO and other organisations, thanks to this outbreak |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 7:30pm On Feb 29, 2020 |
Why so pessimistic? Report by the NCDC, Nigerian Ministry of Health in conjunction with WHO Africa. Every other thing follows. You are just in a hurry to conclude we won't beat this. And WHO will naturally term it a world emergency bcoz it has left the place of his Origin and stretching out into other countries. Ofcos it is now a global concern. Saying it is global concern doesn't make it deadlier. The fact remains that it has a freakingly low mortality rate. And more Infected people make and are making recoveries from the virus than people even dying from the virus (most of whom are older folks). He is infectious doesn't mean the dude won't also recover from it like the others naa. He could die only when it exacerbates and becomes critical but he could also recover like many others have done. As it is now, he is stable and not in a critical state. The health commissioner and two medical personnels were pictured checking on him, two of them not wearing face masks even. So what's your stress? Lol And yes, some may have been infected or maybe not. Until then... It is what it is now. And in any case, Medical staff and the NCDC in Lagos are ready and working round the clock to combat this problem. Vaccines are also on the way. In conclusion... This virus is dead on arrival. The end. AllforJesus7: |

mvem:Nice one. So many misinformation out there. However, the 2% fatality rate is enough cause for concern. Anyone might fall into that small 2%, hence the panic. I as a person think the fear generated by the media might be a blessing in disguise as so many people have started cultivating the habit of frequent hand washing which can also limit the spread of the Viral haemorrhagic fevers e.g Ebola, Lassa etc. Your post is very informative. Kudos. |

safarigirl:It is ridiculous in the first place how the man passes through the airport undetected and then falls sick the next day despite ample time for us to prepare for such advent. Says so much about the government. Government parastatals can only do so much as being supported by the federal lead whether they are filled with corrupt old men or not. Jonathan's regime had brilliant people at the helms. Based on antecedents It would be quite out of order to vouch for this present government's capability in that respect. Let's not test this government with an outbreak of the virus. I pray the virus is contained. I do believe the blacks have better immunities against these viruses. I am also optimistic we will be good. However to sit still with a pen and paper mapping out and smiling with confidence how much of a threat this virus is NOT to the country is akin to comedy. P.S in your previous post you referred to how a Nigerian top doctored communed with the infected Italian without protection. You should read up on what happened to Dr Ameyo Adadevoh and review your post. |
