golddare: Too much liberalism. That's what's going to be our undoing in Yorubaland if we aren't careful. We are afraid of being called ethnicists while others aren't ashamed to show that they consider their own ethnicities first and foremost before others. How many Southerners have been allowed to join Hisbah Shari'a police in the North? Amotekun should only allow Yorubas. We can't deceive ourselves, loyalty in Nigeria is based on ethnic lines. It is the truth. When push comes to shove, who do you think the Fulanis in Amotekun will be loyal to? |

orisa37: I mean that, that clause in the law will make it possible for Fulanis who have lived for years in Lagos to infiltrate the outfit with their people. You think just because they have lived in Yorubaland and maybe even married Yorubas will make them loyal to Yoruba over and above their own Fulani kinsmen? I think not. |

luluman:Foolish talk. This is about the legal framework. So the discussion is for rational people not emotional rants. There are non Yoruba communities in Lagos state e,g Badagry. So will Amotekun import Yoruba people from Kwara or Kogi to operate in Badagry |

Jesus... Majority of Nigerians lack critical reasoning. The bill says indegenes or non-indegenes with 20 years residency and strong language requirement. In Lagos, what language are we talking about here ? Yoruba, Awori, Egun or Ijebu because, if it were for only indegenes only Awori, Ijebu-ikorodu and Egun people will be members, so even for the general population of Yoruba's in Lagos who are not indegenes to become members, there needs to be this caveat in the law Now as per non-Yorubas becoming members, Lagos is a cosmopolitan state, you have areas were majority of the populations are not Yoruba, so who protects that area ? I keep telling all my fellow Yoruba secessionists, we in Lagos will never allow for a breakup of Nigeria. Being a Lagos indegene is by lineage but being a Lagosian is simply by mentality, we are like New York, London, Toronto. E.g Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga might have been born in other parts of Nigeria but they are Lagosians. Dangote will tell you he is more a Lagosian than anything (even Kano), he can't live anywhere but In Lagos, so are the hundreds of property owners and 2nd born generations of non-Yorubas and even Yorubas born in Lagos. Sattelite town, Festac that area, will the members be only Yoruba ? in areas where the population of non-yorubas are enough to elect non-yorubas as house of rep and assembly members? Please guys make we use our medulla oblongata abeg. By the way I am an Awori, omo ni mushin an jin no, omo ni mushin ano ko oru. So you can't get more omo onile than me. 1 Like |

Re: "You Can Join Amotekun If You Have Spent 20 Years In Lagos & Speak Yoruba" by ykalhaji(m): 4:51pm On Mar 03, 2020 |
ola6: Of course, you don see where omo una dey do security before? But they will be the one hiring the Yoruba people that will guard them in those areas, so what noise are you making See, what is the fear ? Lagos is way more worried about armed robbery, assault, criminal activities, which are equal opportunity crime for both Yorubas and non-Yorubas than herdsman terrorists and kidnapping, which is what the hinterland states are worried about and the worry about the north taking over the southwest is more a religious thing and if that is the case then you should worry more about Yoruba muslims but you can't because they are us, your brothers, wives, sisters in-laws, so what are you gonna do about them Nothing. Also Amotekun is just a PR stunt, basically what we will have are state centers of intelligence, policing and investigation, interconnected by geographical location which will be supervised by the federal unit (Nigerian Police), basically State police without force through the back door, Lagos will also partner with the south south, middle belt, northern and eastern states for better data collation as time passes. I expect other states to follow in today's footsteps and pass state policing laws based on their states coloration. Lagos passed it's own laws based on our coloration we have close to 70% non independent living in Lagos, over 35% non-Yorubas and our main concern is economic growth and you only get that by providing opportunities and harmonious living conditions for everyone. That reduces crime more than any policing activity. 1 Like 1 Share |
