I have said this before and I will say this again.

NO DRIVER MAKES 100K PER WEEK ON UBER/BOLT AS IT IS NOW. LEARN TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN GROSS INCOME AND NET INCOME. UNA MUMU NO TOO MUCH?

You guys should stop deceiving yourselves. Lets even assume that at the end of the week you see 100k in your dashboard which is highly impossible due to factors I will list later, is that your net income or gross income?

Lets assume you see 100k on your dashboard by mistake,

100k - Bolt 20% = 80k

80k - 25k fuel = 55k

55k minus at least 5k tolls = 50k

50k minus 30k Car owner Money = 20k

20k minus at least 15k for weekly feeding, car wash, recharge cards, data, miscellaneous = 5k remaining. Wey the 100k?

I don't even want to talk about other factors like LASTMA catching you, Small repairs like pumping tyres, Changing Lights etc

If Driver has a family, this bills increases considerably.

Have you ever wondered why week in week out, the average Uber Bolt driver lives from hand to mouth? No solid income base, No Savings Plan!

If Uber Bolt was the only thing am doing, I would have gone back to the village. I have a personal car I drive and I also have a driver.

Now lets discuss the koko that mitigates drivers from making much on ehailing again. How do you even plan to make 100k on Bolt all things being equal? Am working under the assumption you are not a fraudster that either manipulates trips with apps or many other fraudulent means which I don't want to spill here before they say "AM SPOILING PEOPLE BUSINESS"?

Why am asking how do you plan to make 100k on Bolt is because of so many factors which I will now list like I promised before.

(1) Are you the only driver on the road? When ehailing was ehailing, you are barely ending a trip and you are getting another one. Is it the case these days? You can stay up to 2 hours... No trip. Baking under the hot sun.

(2) Is it only me that gets locked up in this Lagos Hellish traffic that is now an everyday thing? This is one factor that kills me personally in this business. How can driving from Agidingbi Ikeja to Allen Avenue Ikeja take 50 minutes on an average day? A distance of not more than 6 kilometres? Something that should take less than 10 minutes? Are you aware that once you are not covering more kilometres, your money is reading in minutes in traffic? 10 naira a minute? How do you guys do this magic? Because more traffic equals lesser number of kilomtres burnt. 1 kilometre is averagely priced at 60 naira.

(3) What about Bolt that engages in criminal actions against drivers which many mumu drivers are not aware. You will end a trip and see something like,

"Suliaotu Ikpuoke owes 400 naira. Bolt will compensate you 1200"

After trip, you go to your balance and its not added up?

(4) Are you a robot? Can a normal human being drive 18 hours daily and not run mad? How many tramadol will you keep on popping? Are you aware that even if you drive for 18 hours, the variables are still same because as you are making more money, bolt is eating from you too, filling stations are eating too. All from your effort!

I can go on and on. But am tired. Let me go back to sleep jare. I can't pay for a hotel room and not enjoy the AC.

100k per week but you are always broke? 100k kee you dia.

The secret to success in this business is how you plan your time, and make your driving fun, don’t sit on your Brain always use it.

God bless your woman. Another person would have ordered another ride and that sleepy driver would have taken another person and endangered his/her life.

It is possible to make unbelievable amount in a week, i wont argue that, but It comes at the expense of driver's health and sanity.

Rest is important
Driver need to rest, 20min Nap after 3hrs of driving increases concentration.
Well that’s what I do and it works for me

Dru23 can you see this?

Your point of view most times irks me!
You're so self centered!
I don't drive, infact I'm based in Ado Ekiti.
But your point of views varying from ehailing, to vehicle sales, to vehicle maintenance and even your oil business are so wack and very non pragmatic. You're not open to ideas, you see yourself as some kind of island. It's just crazy.

Why will you be making snide comment about drivers getting rest?? You're just....... I don't know.

Reply me with meme as per toothless tiger wey you be, I don't care!

God save your king!

If you plan your time driving and resting time it ought not to be like that, the 20yr old , l must confess is driving foolish, the reason for his being ultra tired, it dosen’t have to be that way.

This forum has turned to something else. It is not a do or die affair to be part of this business. If it works for you, fine. If it doesn't find something else to invest in. Too many insults, arguments, discouragement, most people have their own experiences, what works for A might not work for B. Allow other people have their own experience for themselves.

Well said!! Failures, success, everybody has something to say

Lately me (dru23). has been getting bashed regards to uber driver needing rest. I do not have issues with drivers resting..

One thing the people doing the bashing have to understand is that am running a business. Has a business man, I have duties and responsibilities. Most of guys don't know how partners get loans to start this business, nor do you guys care.

People have to know that every jobs comes with is own risk. Cops, firefighters, teachers ,street hawkers, bankers ,business men, oil ring workers, truck drivers etc. The most important thing is for you to know what you are getting yourself into. And some profession will require you to work long hours. And some jobs will take time away from your family. But it is up to the individual to figure out how they are going to navigate those risks or challenges.

It is not my job to help you figure it out for you . My job as a business man is to provide the tools for you to do your job...

Health issues and taking time off. I don't have issues with anybody taking time off. If you need to take time off to rest or attend to personal issues . Yes, take the time off. I have no issues with that, but when it gets to a point that your time off or personal issues starts to affect my business, than we have to part ways ...

You can't expect a business owner to be giving you time off all time and than expect them to hold your position for you till you come back.

Conclusion: As a business man , am here to run a business, am not a charity organization. Am not here to help solve people's issue.

As a business man I will need to put my emotions aside and do what is right for my business. And you also as an employee you will need to do what is right for yourself.. Just because I run a business does not mean I have the funds to be generous to every employee.

To the ones out their bashing me and calling me names. Transport business is a very tough business. Has an investor you have to be tough as the drivers. Till today a former driver is still owing me over 100k naira. He knows who he is , and my last driver owes me 100k naira. The last driver was telling me he has three kids money is tight, etc. So with those loses what account would I write those loses to ?

Again am here to run a business and if people don't like how I do things .. They can always go to the bank and take out a loan . And than run their own business.. Transport business is a tough business and I have to be on my toes at all times...

There are are many companies that rent out vehicles not necessarily for UBER, but 4 general use, sickness dosen’t come into play here, you simply have to pay or return the car,
Business is business, trying to be Bobo nice will simply ruin you, and of course the driver moves on, as he no send you.
Yes, One needs to be firm and compassionate but definitely not stupid.
I am surprised you allowed a driver to owe you N100k, in London if you are late by one day you pay an additional 20%.
You are kind,
For me a bad driver is a bad driver

The 20year is a grown man. Please stop making excuses for him .Nobody put a gun to his head, and the slavery part does not add up bro.. They are jobs out there other than uber that the man can do....

And one thing you fail to understand, they way you pity this man . A lot of drivers will not pity car owners.. You seem to be looking from one angle..

And what do you think weekly rental should be? You seems to be advocating something that will be fair .. But what you don't get is that no matter how low rental is ,most drivers will still give excuses not to meet up.

Transport business is a very tough business, you have to be as tough as the people you dealing with. Example for instance, I do all my repairs both major and minor. And I ask for 30k weekly delivery.. Upon all my fairness driver still owes me money,. The last driver owe me.over 100k naira. I keep giving him chance to meet up ,I just kept quiet .. And finally I collected my car from him. He kept telling me he three kids and another baby. So what am I supposed to do.

You are looking at things from one view..

A bad driver is a bad driver, this one is hopeless if l must say, probably inexperienced

Is there something not okay with this arrangement? Am I doing anything wrong? Do I have to tell the owner of the car that I will not be the one to drive it? Do I have to tell the rental driver the car is on hp?

Not a smart decision. You seem to have a good soul and very considerate seeing how you wouldn’t mind going the extra length to help your fellow.

1. What would become of that ‘tokunbo’ car in two (2) years? Would it still be a tokunbo?

2. If you have to shell out an 80k for ac fixes, does that come from your salary too?

Being a nice person is good but don’t shoot yourself in the foot; you’d end up financing someone else thinking you’re generating another source of income.

Add some cash to the 500k, get a good mechanic, and then look for a close to tokunbo Nigerian used car; you can invest that instead of waiting to pay off 2.5m.

Don’t end up killing yourself paying debts.

#allOpinionsAreMine.

God bless you.

What igboman painted, is the real situation about earnings.

Like I said, wat planning are you talking about.

This biz revolves around people moving.

The only time you wudnt face any serious traffic in Lagos is BTW 11pm - 5am.

and if you work arnd DT tym, its a big risk to work @ nite for crumbs. Have you wondered why dere is always SOJI arnd 10pm upwards.

Cos few drivers work @ nite cos of d risk.

And if you are in traffic, you don't earn. In fact, you are losing.

You are not in the game, all you HV is second hand info. Don't discount wat igboman said up there.

Right now, bolt makes more money for drivers. It's easier to gross over 35k on a daily basis.

Is like this Bolt needs to be questioned or something, did they even read earnings in traffic sha undecided.. All the price I'm seeing after 1 hours in traffic to reach rider's destination r not encouraging at all... Ooh I miss Uber oo cry

House please how can I get bck on Uber, don't forget I said I got deactivated last 2 weeks due to my bad phone. Bolt is somehow irritating me walai embarassed

if you have a slow phone you can use a 4g lte Wi-Fi network and it'll be fine. Also update your bolt app. If you can get a 4g lte phone too that's splendid

My Oga you no lie even for your sleep you go still dey find remittance to settle partner embarassed

I asked him to take a day off every week then spend like 5 hours in a cyber cafe for this purpose. He agreed to that.
The problem with this ehauling driving is; it disconnects you from the world, the least time you have you spend sleeping, even in your dream you see your partner asking you to hustle up for the weekly remittance, or like one of my friend, you can get trip requests in your dream, nsuto mkpo?[/quote]

Bro, tell that guy to go submit his CV to workforce group ,Whytecleon, Dragnet (contract banking jobs, instrumentation Engr jobs etc) are available and should help keep his body and souls together till a better offer surface. I understand that they don't pay much but with his course & grade, 50-65k after all deductions is far better than toiling all day under hot sun to remit 30k to partners.
He should also be on the lookout for Graduate trainee roles, he will surely get invited for test and if he knows his onions with a dint of luck, he would get a job.

A job is a job be proud of what you have, God will give you the job of your dreams, 4now do what you do well and stop complaining.

what has this got to do with feminism..na wa for naija guys

it is understandable why a woman can run to her mother over slight issues some times but for man who is suppose to lead his house that is a big red flag for any woman. if you call yourrself leader of the home as most naija men want to be called, why run to your mother at every given time, why ' you solve your problems like a leader you all are.

to your second question, yes. both of them can become waiter or waitress or whatever job they are qualified for at that age, i even support the acquisition of skills like carpentry, mechanic, tailoring etc if they cant find jobs that pay, the purpose is to teach personal responsibility atleast in countries in the developed world, you can see young kids of 15 or 16 working in wendy's, kfc, mcdonalds or doing online business like drop-shipping to earn cash and be independent before 18 it is a norm there, here in naija, we protect kids to the extend that they become docile an not able to fend for themselves when daddy and mummy is no more.

do you know why in reserve parks they dont allow visitors to give animals foods, because they become dependent and docile and also because they will stop their natural process of hunting and start to wait for humans to give them free stuff...
Oh so its a norm for a woman to run to her mother abi but a taboo for a man to do same when the wife doesn't know how to cook or know how to even satisfy her man abi? Or doing chor chor instead of minding her business abi? Madam I can see your frustration because your husband is probably doing doing this and you know what? Its your fault no fault of his.

Go to any eatery around the country and fish out an employee with a school cert lets see. Most of them even demand 2.1 graduate. Madam stop making comparison with abroad Nigeria is nothing close. Has we are distance in miles apart so also our differences in every fair of life and we can never be develop like any European country not even in a 100yrs time.

so a man that claim he is the leader in the house needs to run to his mother because his wife cant cook or satisfy him, you call that one a man?

1-so what will the mother do, replace the wife and start cooking for her son or start satisfying her son, any man that cant control his house by good communication isnt a man.

2-there are many school cert working in restaurants in Nigeria, go and do your research

3-i am not making any comparison with any developed country,i was giving examples, anyway, there are some kids in Nigeria who are 16 or 17 and earning money, at least we do not have to do it like they do in the west, what about kids learning skills like carpentry, mechanic, hair dressing, fashion design and other stuff from young, dont you think they will have an advantage over those kids that do not have that skills? just because a kid is learning carpentry or tailoring, doesnt mean he will be that forever, no, but it will be useful for him in the future.

4-i am not talking about western development rather making your kids act responsible, setting them up to believe in themselves, settling them up to know that they can earn a living by working, that no better owns them anything, these are traits that will make them successful later in life.
