I so love this fish. Pour hot water on the fish , so as to soften it. Let it last for five minutes or less, bring out and gently raise with normal water. Keep aside and use for whatever you desire to cook with. You can use it to cook soups of all kinds and it alway lovely if you decide to put in your rice .

Growing up, this delicacy was strictly reserved for very special occassion. My old man had a site he was developing then so we go there weekends or public holdiays to check the place out and farm some subsistence crops. We planted this ishapa back then and once it brings forth its fruit,we just harvest and peel off the skin and dry.

So when there is a special occassion mumsy just goes into the store, fetch some dried ishapa, soak it overnight and prepares it with better egusi, stock fish, tinko meat and offals. Chai!

Being proud Ijesha's that my parents are, we follow the ishapa up with better pounded yam.

Thinking of this delicacy I last tasted about 17 years ago is just giving me goose bumps
