what has this got to do with feminism..na wa for naija guys

it is understandable why a woman can run to her mother over slight issues some times but for man who is suppose to lead his house that is a big red flag for any woman. if you call yourrself leader of the home as most naija men want to be called, why run to your mother at every given time, why dont you solve your problems like a leader you all are.

to your second question, yes. both of them can become waiter or waitress or whatever job they are qualified for at that age, i even support the acquisition of skills like carpentry, mechanic, tailoring etc if they cant find jobs that pay, the purpose is to teach personal responsibility atleast in countries in the developed world, you can see young kids of 15 or 16 working in wendy's, kfc, mcdonalds or doing online business like drop-shipping to earn cash and be independent before 18 it is a norm there, here in naija, we protect kids to the extend that they become docile an not able to fend for themselves when daddy and mummy is no more.

do you know why in reserve parks they dont allow visitors to give animals foods, because they become dependent and docile and also because they will stop their natural process of hunting and start to wait for humans to give them free stuff...

Its so unfortunate that's the society we find ourselves. Femanist how about wives that always run to their mothers at every slight issue in her home? Don't bring gender differences into this matter.

You want the boy child to become a waiter right? So what should the girl child do at age 16? A Waitress right?

@Dru23 you're privilege to spend most of your years abroad, a quick question? Would you rather yiur children grow up here in 9ja or in Yankee? lets have reasons to any of the answer.

You still not getting the point .. A 20year old is a grown man ,he is grown to make certain decision, if a 20year is old enough to buy alcohol and cigarettes. Than he is old enough make sound decision, than if he fails at those simple things, than you as a parent has fail ....

The job of a parent regardless of the economic or social status.. Parents jobs are to teach their kids on how to survive, parents job is to give their kids the right skills to survive, so that when they leave the nest they are equip to handle challenges..

You shielding your child from reality because naija is tough is a great disservice to that child. Your job is to monitor that child at an early stage in life .. You pay attention to what he is doing without him know that you watching him .. So that when he falls you can pick him up. If you can't do all these things, than you have no business been a parent..

Using Nigerian economic standard as an excuse or saying because I dont know what am saying because stayed in abroad or came from privilege background and which of course you base it on assumptions, is a total disservice to yourself...let your child make mistakes and be their to correct.. Encourage your child to be self sufficient.. Have you even started teaching your child how to save money yet ,did you open an account for that child etc . These are some of things my parents thought me. Do you give your child everything he wants, even though you can afford ..

You teach your child that not everyone is lucky as he is . Again using Nigeria social status is a total cop out not to teach them responsibility.. Even Bill Gates stated that he will not leave all of his wealth to his child. He feels that if he does that, he is doing a great disservice to them

A good friend of mine told me a story about his older brother.. He said while his older brother was in high school he got a girl pregnant . So the father called the older brother to his office .. The father congratulated the son as a new father .. The father told the son since you are a new father now ,he can't be taking care of him and his new baby. He told the son you are man now , the father gave the son some money and told the son that he can't no longer pay for his school fees anymore .. He said you are now a man ,you need to look for a job to take care of your new family.. He said to the son ,you will now know how I feel taking care of you.. The father gave the son some money and told the son to get out of his office.. This is Nigeria that these happened to my friend, he said his father came from a poor background and his father was able to become successful.. He said his father behaves like a military man ...

And what is wrong for a child been a waiter or waitress at 16years old ? At the age dont you think you teaching that child the value of money ? And at what age do you want to teach that child how to value money? Smh. What is wrong for a 16 year doing waitress or waiter job for 2 days or more a week. This is how you encourage kids and built self confidence , so by the time they get real jobs they dont feel out of place.. This is how you teach kids social skills and how to interact with people....

FYI fellas before people come here spreading misinformation
https://techpoint.africa/2020/03/03/lagos-regulation-ride-hailing/

The Lagos government is dumb and corrupt. Uber and other coy are doing what the government is supposed to be doing. Which is to provide employment for the youth, the little that the drivers are making, government wants to take that.. The government has not shown good leadership, roads ,electricity the common basic things that a government should provide, they can't even do that efficiently .. Smh... And most of these taxes the government collects they can't even fully account for it. But at the same time they want to encourage foreign investors.... Banana Republic of Lagos and Nigerian ..And they wonder why the youth are frustrated....

My brother you are very wrong o.. It has nothing to do with diet .. In sane country ,you don't feed wildlife animals so has not to have the animals over dependent on human beings. If you keep feeding them ,what happens to their animal instincts to hurt their own food , and apart from that giving animal food is makes them not to be afraid of human being .... Which can cause deadly consequences.
And her point is not to have animals dependent
for survival by human beings . Now if they animals were in a zoo now that is different, but an animal that was raised in a zoo all of its life , will not be able to survive out in the wild ..because the instinct to survive and hunt has been breed out of them ....

I worked at McDonald's when I was about 14years old for the summer.. By law at the time I can only work 4hours to 5 hours a day.. Then doing the summer time my city funded a program that allows kids ages 13years and up to work during the summer time , so in order to keep them out of trouble

This is not absolute.
what do you expect in a country where basic things of life is luxury(food clothing shelter). Maslow hierarchy of needs comes to mind.

Chinese come with knowledge n loan from their govt. In Nigeria, getting knowledge is tall order. Someone will say knowledge is on YouTube. Have u met pple that turn off data on their phone before? Data is also not cheap.
They come here and make a kill because regulation is not stiff ( sell at any price, employ casual labour, pollute the environment etc.) Something not allowed in a sane climate.

Nothing truly comes easy. One has to be delibrate.

I started this business 2 years ago. Today I have 8 cars. You have been a blessing to me and I have learnt a lot from you. This is supposed to be business, no sentiments at all. Most drivers are heartless. Give a driver a brand new mint car not tokunbo o and tell him to remit 10k weekly, some drivers will still default. Doing business in the country is tough. The hardest part of doing business in Nigeria is getting honest employees. Dru keep doing what your're doing. Most drivers here will hate you for saying the truth.

100%. But advice that young to watch his health closely oooh and be more conscious about his safety. Stress kills my brother and if anything happens to him God forbid its the same family he loves so much that will suffer.

True, every man should work hard to make his family comfortable but remember you need to stay alive to have them have the best in live.

May God bless every hard working men out there and also keep them safe and healthy!

He does, extremely.

you think so, disruption of natural hunting or food-gathering behavior isnt a reason, ok, lol. go do your research.

the basis of the argument is simple, when you give people free things, they become dependent and become lazy, the zeal and instinct to work will be removed, you see the same traits in welfare beneficiaries, people who depend on a rich family member for survival.

If I talk this morning, I'll step and destroy toes... See them using the 'nothing in life comes easy' card anyhow...

So it's only you guys that know how to do it!

One even said 'Chinese come to Nigeria and make a killing', like like seriously? Can you ever be more ignorant??

Why didn't you ask why everyone wants to leave Nigeria for greener pastures? Why do people celebrate and do big Thanksgiving when their visas come through??

Kai, make I no talk, I respect some of you well, dru23 included, but your reasonings beat me!

Your environment has shapened your orientation, nothing can make you understand an ordinary Nigerian.

Every parents primary objective in Nigeria is to give their children education to the highest ladder possible according to their capacity.

Saw two corollas drove into the car park while i was heading to check in for my 10.30am flight this morning.

ordinary Chinese, do not come with loans, they come with personal savings and are willing to take risk, some make it and some lose all and go back empty handed they are like the white business men who first came to africa to exploit her resources. many Chinese have been able to improve their financial and social standings in china just because of their exploit and risk taking in Nigeria.

The reality is that we love to see the negative things in Nigeria, that is where all our mind go rather than see where we can exploit opportunities to make cash, the only reason why blacks all over the world are in the bottom of the food chain is because we dont create businesses, the success of white,Indians Chinese, and Lebanese in africa have always been because they believe in trading and creating businesses, for example in South Africa, you can never see native whites, Indians and Chinese fighting for govt jobs, many of them have businesses which they started from scratch, even with their small size in population, they have been able to gain control of the economy of SA, unemployment is also low among them, compare to blacks who are majority.

back to my point, Most of the Chinese coming to Nigeria are from the rural areas, poor and dirty, that is the reality but they are able to make money there by taking huge risks, i read of a Chinese who came to Nigeria as a construction worker, after his contract labour expired,he decided to stay in Nigeria, he noticed that we dont have different varieties of vegetables, he bought a land, dug bore hole and connected pipes underground and brought in different varieties of vegetable seeds from china and started planting, before you know it, he started supplying Chinese restaurants and big shops here in Nigeria, that is a Chinese man who saw opportunity, another stuff is that the Chinese man is willing to take the pain to learn and gain knowledge then translate that knowledge into practical use, never ever show a Chinese man how your business is run or allow him or her to know your suppliers or customers, before you know it, he will corner every one of them, many spare parts businesses have fallen because of that.

I have to clap for you for this one. I sometimes do feel disappointed with our men, we just have to manage them. I want my child to be independent from 16, earn little money working as a waiter or sales attendant, this is how hard work and responsibility is instilled from young age.

Btw,To be sincere, that is why we have lot of men child in this country, imagine a grown up married man still reporting to his mother about affairs in his home.

That is nothing o .. My good friend is fighting with his mother in law . She comes to the USA ,stays with them rent free ,eat and guess what up ? The old woman works and makes good money for herself ,and she is building a house in Nigeria.. And this same woman complains that my friend is not doing enough for her ..
But here is the bomber ,my friend told me can you imagine that this same woman still sends money home to her grown adult children with kids.. He said those grown adult kids with children are now dependent on the woman, cause the woman allows it Mean while the woman is stressing him out and his marriage ..
