Welcome bro. The runny nose thing can be so embarrassing. Lol. The cold has also reduced to a great extent now.

Where is your temporary stay located?

Thanks bro. Very embarrassing something

Welcome to Canada. Give yourself sometime and everywhere go soft, lol
One of the best things I learnt from this thread before leaving Nigeria was bringing my powerbank along with me.
God bless the lady who made that comment here cos I was almost dashing it out. If your phone battery is not too strong and you will be using public transport for a while plus coming in winter, Please bring it along. Put inside bag when going out, e dey help oh. Cold dey hook phone for here wen nor too strong. grin

Also not sure how sound Google map is in Nigeria. Try learning how to use it. God knows I still walk around in circles but I'm alot better than when I first landed. God bless you all

Thanks alot. I am trying to blend in and see what I can make of my move here. I am kind of overwhelmed right now

Good evening house.... I'm a civil servant and on verge of completing my Ican exams. And I'm also running a linkage program(bsc top-up) with my hnd certificate. My question is I plan to settle down in Canada soon but i read somewhere on the thread that wes doesn't recognize ican... (Thinking of converting that to Acca though) but its not likely I convert to acca here in Nigeria. My plan is to go there for my masters program not acca conversion.... Now will 3.5 million naira be adequate if I intend staying over for long?? Prompt response will be highly appreciated. Thanks
I will pass on the ICAN/Accounting question - not my field or line of expertise.
As per the 3.5m question, 3.5m definitely won't be enough for a masters program plus living expenses except your masters is fully paid for. 3.5m plus student job should be able to cover living expenses, feeding and rent for a one year program. You may get more answers on the masters question if you also post your question on the student visa thread.

Good Evening Elders in the House, I trust you are all doing well. I will be landing in May, I want to know the best way to move my POF to Canada from Nigeria. Thank you.

Hello all,

Please ooo, for people in Ontario, are there remote jobs I can do for now? I am heavily pregnant and may not be able to work long hours but I need to do something. I am also considering taking a course but I still don't know which one is more lucrative.

I studied Accounting, have my ACCA, but I have about 4years experience in Banking only.

Biko, any suggestion is welcome.

Would you consider customer service or book keeping? I heard there are some work from home opportunities for these.

I don't really know about the monetary aspect of your question but i would suggest you start the ACCA conversion and then complete it. With ICAN, you have to start CPA from scratch while ACCA, it's just tax and IT something that you can do at your leisure. Consider it because CPA will pay you very well in Canada.

Good morning Everyone, please I have a question.
I plan to land in Calgary, Alberta and I noticed alot of people would rather stay in SW and NW than in SE and NE. Please seniors, what are your thoughts and advice on this ?

Stay away from NE, to put it in 9ja way for you, my wife once drove to Surulere to make her hair, parked her car outside, came back and two side mirrors were gone...if you can relate to that then you relate to NE.

SW-NW-SE in that order.

Student visa related questions are best answered on the thread below.

https://www.nairaland.com/5233221/canadian-student-visa-thread-part

They regularly have discussions on affordable schools/provinces. There would also be more knowledge being shared on what province has a PNP favourable to students. I know Manitoba and Sask have excellent PNP programs for students but not necessarily the most affordable schools. The eastern provinces would have more affordable school fees, but I can't tell if they have similar or even better PNP programs for international grad students.

Calgary's crimemap: https://data.calgary.ca/Health-and-Safety/Community-Crime-and-Disorder-Map/hhjd-wzc2

Note that there are areas in the SW, NW and NE with more crime than some areas in the NE. And downtown is the least safe part of the city.

Most of the people singing NE is not safe can't list more than 5 communities in the NE. They're just repeating what they heard others saying.

Thank you all

P.S do not mind the time on the the screenshots, I made it over 2months ago, I just got around to writing this morning grin grin grin

Thank you Hafsat for sharing. Indeed it's those who you know nothing about that help you out. I don't know why it's like that. Someone on the other group give me details on how to process letter from FRSC, picked it up for me, brought it to Canada. I was busy thinking when I have time I'll pick it up. Only for him come to my city few weeks after he arrived Canada for interview and he brought my letter for me.

Thank you all for being helpers.

I lived in NE for 2yrs plus, if the poster stays away from Malborough, Franklin and sunridge and stays in somewhere like Skyview Ranch, Taradale, Saddletowne I don't see anything bad in NE... 9ja people were fond of badmouthing NE. I worked nights and walked home from the train station at 2am and nothing happened to me while i lived there, i moved out in 2019 after getting married. Poster just do your findings and avoid the aforementioned areas

True alot of bad stories about the NE but alot of people I know live there and no issues. Ultimately I guess it's different experiences for everyone. I wish I lived there though grin. Almost everything is there plus I work there. Woulda made my commute easier cheesy

I lived in Taracove for around 2years too before I moved to Aspen/Springbank area later on. After the move, I still travel at least once in two weeks to buy food stuffs.
U know a couple of Nigerians that bought houses around the coventry hills area.
The areas I find a bit sketchy in the NE quadrant are the Rundle, Forest Lawn, Marlborough and maybe Martindale area. There were always 2 CPS vehicles permanently stationed at the Malborough Wal-Mart cheesy

Thanks for this information. I've been living in Calgary for about 5 years now and the most dangerous place I know of is downtown and crimes are not as rampant as experienced in many American cities. The NE houses the airport and many establishments. What people say about the NE are mostly heresay. I know many people living in the NE and I don't know any with a terrible experience.
Last winter, a car was stolen opposite my house in NW because the owner didn't have a remote starter and had to manually turn on her car but before the car warmed up, a thief drove it off

Downtown especially areas around the 4 or so stations where the c-train is free.

Forest lawn is in the SE but Marlborough is NE. The Memorial drive divides Calgary into North and South while Centre street and MacLeod trail divide the city into East and West.

Hi, I'm moving to Winnipeg next month. Please check your mail,I have sent a message to you.
Edward8891:
Hi Guys
If you a single man migrating to Winnipeg, Manitoba and you fall into the underlisted categories, please contact me. I can assist with initial settling down and a lot of information while we share my apartment.
CATEGORIES:
 A single man moving with the plan of getting married here or returning to Nigeria to bring his babe.
 A married man moving alone while the family joins later.
 You don’t have a friend/family to stay with for initial landing (Note, please take advantage of staying briefly with these guys if you have, it will save you some bucks as well).
 You are migrating as a student or a Permanent Resident
What’s in it for you?
 You can avoid initial hotel/Airbnb expenses
 You save yourself the stress of looking for an apartment and the background credit check process
 You have a direct source of information based on experience
 You can start saving costs immediately (Believe me, there are some expenses a new immigrant incur that you will realize you could have done it at 50% cheaper down the line)
 You can also save yourself the stress of getting furniture and basic homeware till you are married or ready to move to another apartment.

What’s in it for me?
 I get to share my rent expense with you
 I get a neighbour to share ideas with

PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS POST IF EVEN IF YOU FALL INTO THE CATEGORIES AND YOU KNOW DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEART THAT YOU ARE NOT EAST GOING AND ARE NOT READY TO FOCUS ON THE GOOD REASONS WHY YOU ARE MIGRATING TO CANADA
