The other painful thing about this loan is that there is no clear plan to repay the funds. Left to me i would have tied the road projects to toll gates and then the revenue from the toll gates will by LAW be directed towards repayment of the loan. Also the revenue from mambilla power project would be directed towards paying the loan.

At this rate Nigeria 's future will be mortgaged because Oil, which is our major forex earner could very well be $10 in 20 years time as renewable energy continues to take over.Where will the dollars to pay all this come from

And as is typical of Nigeria, everybody around Buhari will just be nodding their heads and saying "yes Sir". Nobody will have the balls to tell him that unless there is very detailed and clear cut structure around this loan, it will not do us any good! The only safeguard is that a huge chunk of it will be executed by the Chinese i.,e railroads and Mambilla and to be fair, they do execute their projects under the Chinese Export bank projects.

I disagree with most of the things there!!! For goodness sake why are we taking a loan of $500mln to digitize NTA!!! As far as I'm concerned NTA should be privatized. If Channels, AIT, TCV and other are surviving on their own and doing far better than NTA, why should we be taking a loan for NTA?

Even the east West road that's there for me is a fraud. Which east west road are they still doing that needs to be $800mln (NGN288bln!!!) East West Road is Eket Junction to Port Harcourt; Port Harcourt to Warri; Warri to Benin, Benin to Ore; Ore to Shagamu Interchange.

Of these, only Ore to Shagamu and Warri to Benin remain. Not sure that should cost N288bln. unless they plan to add Calabar to Uyo to Eket Junction to it then I can agree.
The East West road is actually just Warri to Ikot Abasi (Eket Junction), and the truth is that current work done cant be much more than 50%.... $800m though is weird. N100bn sgould compleye the job.

Nigeria is screwed two ways.

Most businesses fail in Nigeria due to the hostile environment

And many who get a degree wont get jobs, due to the quality of education and the economy being screwed up too

So either path one takes
The risk of failure in Naija is high

I'm very displeased even with the cries and pleadings this Government is bent on destroying the future of Nigeria youths.

From what I just read now I can boldly tell us Nigerians welcome back to the days of Abacha when Nigeria was owing huge death until it took the intervention of Obasanjo and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to make sure some of that debt was written off and here we are again.

Please let me ask again; what has FG and Nigerians got to do with part of this loan that FG planned to spend in Kastina, Kaduna and some environmental program in Abuja.

Moreover, nowhere did Southeast mentioned in that loan as the vocational power training that Enugu was mentioned to be part of and not even a single tangible was mentioned to be spent as part of the loan.

Finally, Nigeria are blessed with men with good and creative plans but curse with lack of implementation, supervision and maintenance, therefore some of the loans we took in the previous years are diverted and projects abandoned midway.

Please, Nigeria youths must wake up today to demand the itemization of projects the money will be spent on and make not only the money was 100% spent on that project but make sure the project is viable and can repay this loan on it own without feeling hands into the purse of Nigeria.

Politics is about participation
That's true

People who refused to vote because of Kanu did not take the wise decision either

But if you are implying that because the SE did not vote Buhari that they should get no project

That's silly and dumb.

The president is in charge of the whole country

If we get no projects
Then they should not take our tax revenues either

To make it worse, the taxes from the south east and igbo businesses in general will be used to pay back the loans in the next 3 generations.

Meaning that our grandchildren will be responsible for paying back a national loan that never benefited their region. In a tangible way. Igbos need to start financing their own infrastructures by themselves. Nigeria will never treat you fairly as long as it exists.

Former governor of Akwa Ibom state once asked Gowon why The civil war was fought in the east but post civil war reconstruction was done in Lagos. He had no response to the question

The reason Nigeria is like this , its because they neglected the only region that has the ability to turn things around in this country, as long as this region is neglected Nigeria will never amount to anything

djon78:

That's the thing about this country.
How in the world do you think a nation will move forward when injustice like this is done?

But God always have a way to fight for the marginalized.
Look at Nigeria going to almost 60 years as a nation, but still revolving round the same spot.

Irrespective of whatever, the igbo man is still blessed.

I believe it's time our leaders in the East begin to ask themselves honest question. Come together and source for funds as a regional block to develop our region.
We can pull funds to develop our place, in fact we shouldn't be depending on central government for development.
