African Christians refuse to understand that the Bible is a compilation of several books, with no great deal of evidence but rather dogmatic, written by several authors. This is why there are some degrees of contradicting verses ..but that's that. They refuse to understand because they are very lazy to read and reason. But when one reads the Bible very well, he/she will discover many questionable circumstances. And hey before you start saying this is blasphemy, remember God didn't create religion. Humans did. And it's far from saving the world. |

lade007:It's a good thing u have read it too. Now that tongues the disciples where speaking in was understood to be the native languages under heaven. In fact the languages were identified as: Parʹthi·ans, Medes, and Eʹlam·ites, the inhabitants of Mes·o·po·taʹmi·a, Ju·deʹa and Cap·pa·doʹci·a, Ponʹtus and the province of Asia, 10 Phrygʹi·a and Pam·phylʹi·a, Egypt and the regions of Libʹy·a near Cy·reʹne, sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Creʹtans, and Arabians—? Is this true? Pls kindly answer if it is true. |

Let's say it as it is. Nigerian Christians and several others like them all over the world don't know what the bible actually meant by "speaking in tongues". Don't blame them. You see, many of them are simply daft and can't read and comprehend stuff. Truth is, in that part of the bible, the disciples were speaking actual languages that could be interpreted by all standing around. The disciples were not actually babbling... But these days, some clowns just babble on end and end and say that they are "speaking in tongues" when in reality, they are no different from toddlers learning how to speak. And much as I am not a "minister", I can also tell you for free that the real reason that disciples spoke in tongues was not to "confuse the devil" as you raggamuffin preachers like to delude your members into believing. The disciples speaking in tongues actually had a deeper meaning that only a discerning mind could or can understand or interprete properly. Their speaking in tongues[tongues here, meaning different languages] actually meant that the message of the new faith or creed was for all men- if possible- regardless of tongue or language. It was to symbolize the fact that what they were teaching or propagating would transcend its immediate environment at that point in time and go on to enjoy global appeal. The disciples didn't have the "devil" in mind at that point in time. Y'all need to learn to interpret stuff properly and stop deceiving people. #NoTeachMeNonsense |

Speaking in tongues is simply speaking in a language one has not learned. With the gift of the Holy Spirit, you can speak in an unknown tongue(language). How ever, if there’s no one there who can understand the language spoken, it’s like you are speaking into the air. That’s why the apostles, having been commissioned to go preach the gospel to the ends of the earth, though were originally Jews and could speak just one language, could speak other tongues (earthly human language) of other tribes of the different ethnic groups who had gone to attend the festival in Jerusalem at the time. Hence the people heard the apostles speaking in their own respective native languages. This is evidenced here in (acts 2:5-12) 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[b] 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Review this and compare to our so called modern day speaking in tongues. |

lade007:Let's take it step by step. U wouldn't wanna feed a baby like me and any other five spoonfuls at a time. It's one spoon at a time. It is true, that the tongues was identified as an earthly language right? Do u agree? Let's take that first. Isnor a fight |

iammo:May be if you stayed within context, your points will be well received. True, the problem of most believers is lack of personal time with God, His Word and a relationship with the Holy spirit rather than just swallowing hook line and sinker every thing their pastors preach to them, even when it has been tainted with the pastor's personal motives. The Bereans are a typical example in the scriptures. Even the Apostle Paul's teachings were verified before they accepted them. I was just wondering what you were driving at. |

DropsMic:I totally disagree with you! If u have problem with Pastors, that's ur issues to solve. The Bible says he that speaks in an unknown tongue speak not unto men, but God. If u don't believe in speaking in tongues that doesn't mean u shud talk anyhow about it. I speak in tongues nd I know I communicate with God. Since u hate it, u now start monitoring ur pastors tongue, u see that u don't know what u go to church to do. |

Tobechuckwu:Stop deceiving yourself... Same Bible also said 10. Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. 11. If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me. 12. So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church. 13. For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. Again... Stop deceiving yourself |

Firstly , You are biased because Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 14 vs 15 , that the right thing to do is to pray in tongues and also in understanding , which is what I see almost everyone doing .. but you skipped that part..Secondly , the person who did this write up has no spiritual understanding , you just read the Bible like a novel which is naive ... Lastly , even apostle Paul that you just spoke about couldn’t even preach the Gospel publicly until he started speaking in tongues because he got filled with the Holy Spirit .. He literally had to wait till he could speak in tongues , read your bible without sentiments please ... And stop lying to yourself because you want to believe something is true ... The people speaking in tongues have nothing to loose , but if you not, your spirit stays dumb(can’t talk) just your flesh talking ... and we are spirit beings ..the Bible makes us understand that speaking in tongues is a spiritual language ..And If you not spiritual , you don’t have the ability to understand sir ... Thankyou |

wildlife9999:Jesus didn't speak in tongues because it's an evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost nd it's meant for Christian. If u study ur Bible very well, u will know that there was no Christain until the death nd resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity started after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He's the first begotten of the death. |

slickbak:Do u understand that there was a need for those foreign languages to be spoken? In verse 5 of Acts 2, there were Jews from every nation under the earth at Jerusalem at that time, who spoke those different languages. Jesus Christ stated that the disciples would be witnesses of him in Jerusalem, Judea and the most distant part of the earth. How would they do that if they didn't speak the languages of the distant parts of the earth? In verse 37, of Acts 2, says that upon hearing what Peter spoke about, they were cut to the heart. It is a very known fact that the language of the heart is the language a person speaks and understands effortlessly and u can easily reach a person's heart with his native language. Do u think that Peter spoke to them in the language of the Galileans or their own native languages which they heard? What of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch, who spoke a different language? If u watch Game of thrones, u would realise that at a time before widespread civilization, if a person speaks a language beside his native language, he attracts attention, respect and fear. It is those foreign languages that was spoken that was the means Peter used to speak with thise foreigners, that 3000 ppl were added to the congregation. Tongues simply means "a miraculous ability to speak and understand a language foreign or unknown to the speaker". |

mansakhalifa:If u read ur Bible very well, it was the Holy Ghost that gave the disciples utterance. In other words, he determined what they are to used it for. Then, Jesus Christ was crucified, they called all names nd was resurrected. What the Holy Spirit needed the disciples for was for boldness nd talked about Jesus as the Christ. Why the people understood them was for the Salvation of their soul and for them to know Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Now, we Christian speak in tongues, the Bible says we speak to God. |
