Hi guys!

I and a friend are looking to migrate to the same country by January 2021 via post-graduate studies and we don't want to make the wrong decision. Your advice would be appreciated.

We've narrowed the countries down to three (U.S, Canada, and the U.K.). Although the dream country is the U.S., we're looking for one out of these three that is;

A. Easy to get a job in and stay back after graduation (with a high chance of getting a residence permit)

B. Relatively inexpensive (Although cost would not be a big issue, but the easier it is to get funding and GA positions, the better)

Quick profile of the two of us;

Person A studied Geology

Person B studied History and International Studies

I'm aware those in the STEM field have a higher chance of getting jobs and it's difficult to get a H1-B U.S Visa (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Given the recent change in U.S. immigration laws, which one of these three countries do we stand the highest chance of getting jobs and residing after studies?

Please advise.

Thank you very much!

Can this get to the front page, please? I need as many contributions as I can get. Thanks.

Hey, you can use the Express Entry if you're qualified

Express Entry Program?

Basically, the legal and comfortable route to immigrate to Canada from Nigeria is via the Federal Express Entry Program. But I am aware that a lot of people hate it because of a required IELTS of 6.0+.

Relocating with Express Entry connotes that you have all the requirements + documentation the Canadian immigration service needs.

While Express Entry might seem as a bid deal relocation route, the truth remains that it is the fastest way to relocate to Canada as a Nigerian or from any other country.
An overview of FEEP.

Step 1. First, you need to get info about Canada immigration programs, facilities, rules.

Step 2. Get the info about IELTS, study and give IELTS if you are from a non-native English language country.

Step 3. Get your professional skills assessed from Canadian skills assessment bodies (Like WES) for migrants like you need to apply for CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System).

Step 4. Create Express Entry profile.

Step 5. Your profile gets ranked in the Express Entry pool depend on your points.

Step 6. You can get a job from a Canadian employer after you get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada.

Step 7. Submit Medical PCC and other Documents.

Step 8. Apply for Canada visa and migrate to Canada.

That is all you need to do to relate with the Express Entry Program

You can also Relocate with Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot 2020 – the easiest way to leave Nigeria for Canada

If you want to leave Nigeria for Canada in the next 6-9months then the easiest method by far to successfully get a permanent residence & relocate to Canada within 6 – 9 months is through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program.

Canada, Canada, Canada should be on your list now.

The USA..currently political realities and immigration policies makes a long shot.

[/b]UK.. They'll will send you an e-mail immediately after your PG studies and ask you to go home immediately.

That's a big lie!

Pros and cons for each:
US
Pros: easier to get funding than the other countries listed. if you get to stay, pay is higher in the US. US is more fun if that is a factor for you.
Cons: there is no easy path to residency, that's why most either marry a citizen or stay illegally. The other option is if you get an employer than can file for you, but then you are a slave because you cant resign without losing your status.

Canada
Pros: Easy to get PR after studying. Canada is more welcoming of skilled immigrants. I dont know much about your field but job prospect is dependent on what you study so you have to research your field well.
Cons: Not much funding available, high rate of student visa denial. I know some people that were denied in 2019. And Canada can be boring, if that matters to you

UK
Pros: Easiest to get Visa of the 3, with the change in rule, you can get to stay back for 2 years after your program which gives you opportunity to get UK experience.
Cons: UK schools are expensive. Immigration law seems to change often so you may get stocked. And if you stay back after study, I'm not sure what happens after the 2 years.
NB: i do not know much about UK generally.

Go to the US for it's easier as a STEM grad to secure funding provided you fulfil necessary requirements (GRE, TOEFL, stellar LORs and SOPs). Canada doesn't offer as much funding as her southern neighbour neither does the UK which has highly competitive scholarships. Additionally, the US has the biggest economy therefore it's easier securing a job than Canada or the UK - provided you fulfil the requirements and possess the necessary skills. The good thing about the US is that you can use the degree obtained from an institution there to work elsewhere in the world (provided the institution is recognised).

P.S. This is applicable to the STEM individual. I have nothing to write about the humanities individual.

Best wishes!

I would advise you both go for Canada. You stand more chances especially now that the country is in need of foreigners. There are lots of opportunities right now and after graduating you have some time to secure a job which I know you should be able to secure one. Just leave the UK out of it.
do u know if Canada is expensive?

very simple: Canada if there are no constraints. What you get:

1. Quality Education that rivals any of the prestigeous schools in the world at perhaps lower cost (compared to the US or UK).
2. Ability to obtain work permit while in school and after your programme.
3. The opportunity to become a resident if you are able to secure employment after your programme (yes the government aids this).
4. Opporunity to become a citizen after 3 years (yes 3 years, not 10 years, not 20 years).
5. If you have canadian passport, it opens you up to many other countries (even US and UK).

just my 2 cents.

It is very hard to stay in the U.K after graduation

U.S now has very strict immigration laws and it will also be very hard to get their visa

But you see Canada that's the good place; Thier school fees are cheap and they are also a very tolerant country so racism will be non-existent and you will be able to get visa once you graduate wink
you are probably not aware of recent happenings
