America is a no go area under your friend Trump. As a matter of fact, many white Americans are fleeing America to South and Central America, Europe, Australia and Asian countries. Some of them cannot live on the pension they receive in their home country so they relocate to countries where the cost of living is cheaper. Some relocate to the Caribbean too and to some African countries.

Studying in Canada as a foreign student is expensive except you come from a rich family that can afford the tuition or you earn yourself a scholarship that will pay your tuition.

Lastly, a lot of these Western countries are becoming very strict with their immigration rules and making it difficult especially for Africans to obtain their visas. I do however believe that if it is God's will that you migrate to the Western world, He will make a way. God is not called the way maker for nothing.

If you are a geologist, and you can program, demand for your services will shock you. They are still in demand but just no longer in the conventional sense.

Nowadays it's no longer about analyzing samples in the laboratory, the question is how good is your modelling and programming?
And what geological problems can you solve with them?

That is the dream, African-Anerican, not African-African damn! That’s so much misfortune. If it’s about leaving Nigeria then it should be away from the shores of Africa, Being born inside Africa is a grave mistake already, no one would like to regret twice

Nigerians who migrate to the United States or folks who were born to Nigerian parents in the United States are called "NIGERIAN - AMERICANS".

They are one of the most successful ethnic groups in the United States. They are called and known as Nigerian - Americans and not African - Americans.

People in this same category in Britain are called British - Nigerians.

Ireland, sweeden, newzeland, Australia canada.

Consider this... countries as where to fulfill your dreams.

Turkey, uk, Denmark, dubai, Austria, Netherlands, belgium, Switzerland even estonia. Consider this countries if you want to Japa! Lol

USA has its problems but it still has the largest economy in the world and it is also the leader of the world in terms of technology. There are way more opportunities for STEM and the likes in the US than all the countries you mentioned.

Let me give you a brief opinion about each country:
US - Their schools are overrated and expensive. Upon graduation you will not be allowed to stay back except it's an IVY league schools ( Harvard, yale, princeton, Stanford, Columbia MIT, Brown etc) since you want to relocate US is a no no

UK - Very easy to get admission and it's quite pricey too but like the US you cannot stay back after graduation.

Canada - this is by far the best choice for the following reasons
1.) Affordable school fees
2.) Friendly and tolerate environment
3.) You can stay back after graduation with a post graduate work permit (pgwp), its 1 yr prep for 1 yrs program and 3yr pgwp for programs of 2yrs or more. This us important because you are expected to use the work permit to get a job and process your permanent residence.

With this canada far outweigh the others for young single guys and even families.

Go to canada and see yourself prosper

This is an ignorant post. Firstly, US schools are expensive but not over-rated. Do you want to compare their research(patents, innovations, Nobel Prize winners) with any other country of the world? Most of the technological and scientific discoveries of the 21st century started in US universities.

You are also wrong that you must leave the US upon graduation. There is what we call OPT - which provides you with the opportunity to stay back and work between 1 to three years upon your graduation. I'm currently in the US and most of the Nigerian students here get OPTs of up to three years upon grad.

USA is good no doubt... but it is getting "over saturated" already so many cheaper place to live with the highest quality of life

The people that migrated to USA some 10 years back are the ones with the real opportunities. Not anymore. Believe me...

For me I can't imagine myself breaking my head to live in the USA no way honestly.

Not that there is nothing good about USA

Education
Skill acquisition
Other tranings Etc... are still top notch

But you see living... no no!

The US has the highest amount of universities across the three most recognised higher education ranking agencies (ARWU, QS and THEHigherEducation). So it's amusing when you state the bold. Expensive? Yes. Certainly not overrated. Moreover, there are many other top schools aside Ivy league + institutions and unlike Canada, the funding opportunities are immense. Same Canada you mentioned has a higher visa refusal for African and Nigerian students (8 out of 10 Nigerian prospective students are denied student's visas - https://studentimmigration.ca/canada-rejects-most-african-students/). Additionally, scholarships in Canadian universities are far and in between which mainly cater to the top 1% of students.

The US might have her flaws but for a Nigerian who cannot afford huge fees (10 million plus) or compete for scholarships, it's the most preferable option. With a degree from a R2 universities in the US, a tenacious individual can work anywhere.

Don't mind him. American universities are the most expensive in the world but you can never compare the available opportunities in terms of funding and career progression to any other country. Most of the scientific and technological advancements of this century came from American universities. Contrary to what he said, there is OPT that you are automatically entitled to and you can stay back to work with a company that can even sponsor your H-1B visa.

It is very hard to stay in the U.K after graduation

U.S now has very strict immigration laws and it will also be very hard to get their visa

But you see Canada that's the good place; Thier school fees are cheap and they are also a very tolerant country so racism will be non-existent and you will be able to get visa once you graduate wink
You can stay in the U.K. after graduation. You are given 2 years post-study work visa to look for a job within the time-frame.

Do you live in the US? If no, then I understand the reasons behind your ignorant rant and subtle insult. Due to the impact of slavery on American demographics, the cognomen "African - American" is almost entirely reserved for black Americans whose parents are not first generation migrants and the likes. A Nigerian born in the US under the current system is recognized as a Nigerian -American and a Somalian in the same shoe is recognized as a Somali - American. The successes and achievements of Nigerian - Americans is online and even CNN recently made a special broadcast on it. In sports, medicine, science, technology, businesses, education and many more - Nigerians are at the very top. Do your research!

Well, most are ignorant of the opportunities and with the media frenzy associated with Canada in Nigeria, one has young people interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in a country where the fees are ridiculously high ditto visa refusal for students (the NL thread on Canada student visa says it all). In fact, I state categorically that there are some courses/careers that if not studied/pursued in the US, then its usefulness is lost elsewhere.

At the bold, not only that but the results were made universal by the sheer breath of American capitalism. The vast majority of innovations, inventions or discoveries that were/are commercialised are performed by American companies. Virtually in every sector or industry, American companies hold sway. While typing this, I cannot think of any industry where the top players will not have an American company. These capitalistic results fund research and development across industries and unleash more innovations, inventions and discoveries. German, Japanese or British universities are also good but how many technologies have they churned out that translate into billion dollars companies?

Pros and cons for each:
US
Pros: easier to get funding than the other countries listed. if you get to stay, pay is higher in the US. US is more fun if that is a factor for you.
Cons: there is no easy path to residency, that's why most either marry a citizen or stay illegally. The other option is if you get an employer than can file for you, but then you are a slave because you cant resign without losing your status.

Canada
Pros: Easy to get PR after studying. Canada is more welcoming of skilled immigrants. I dont know much about your field but job prospect is dependent on what you study so you have to research your field well.
Cons: Not much funding available, high rate of student visa denial. I know some people that were denied in 2019. And Canada can be boring, if that matters to you

UK
Pros: Easiest to get Visa of the 3, with the change in rule, you can get to stay back for 2 years after your program which gives you opportunity to get UK experience.
Cons: UK schools are expensive. Immigration law seems to change often so you may get stocked. And if you stay back after study, I'm not sure what happens after the 2 years.
NB: i do not know much about UK generally.
You have said it all. I have lived in the UK, currently live in Canada and never been to the US
Based on movement of professional work colleagues, there are tons of opportunities in the US with higher pay. Canadian Engineers, nurses, doctors, IT specialist etc often migrate to the US for better pay and career advancement. Tons of scholarships and student funding in the US. At my university in Nigeria, in a class of about 15 students after my year, 9 or so of the graduating class ended up in the US with schorlaships for advanced studies (msc and PhDs), only one made it to Canada. The rest are in Nigeria.
However with Trump in power, it might not be easy to stay back in the US anymore.

Canada just as you have mentioned can be very hard to secure funding. Getting a student visa is also an issue. In addition, Geology doesn't mean anything in Canada, atleast not anymore. It's almost a dead career except price of crude shoots up to over $100/barrel again. History degree is equally not lucrative as a career. Canada however does offer an easy path to residency as long as OP has a masters, can score high IELTS score and has maybe a few years of work experience.

The UK. Say no more. Before op is done with his program, the immigration rules can change again plus it's probably the most expensive of the three.

Residency is the main thing, so I would move towards Canada if I was the OP. The passport would open doors for opportunities, so OP might even end up in the US.

we are saying the same thing. because of he goes to study geology he would end up in the lab with samples. Geology is good in countries with huge mineral deposits. How many countries in the west care about it. when they are even cutting funding due to climate change
