bro! Am telling you! You aren’t correct.

First. You can only petition for your siblings if you are a citizen
Secondly. Sibling petition takes average of 10years for approval.

If you are planning study-migration
USA is the best if you have Good GRE score you can get full funding. And if you start early to plan for residency 5yrs (2yrs masters and 3yrs opt)is enough to prepare ground for H1b. It takes long to get residency but worth it. You can still go for UK .
Lastly look for a good course and study well to avoid driving cab on H1b status.

Canada could have been #1 if you have work experience for PR and get cheaper tuition fees or loan but getting their student Visa na War.

Why I like Usa is just that if you take the pain to get Pr/Gc you can easily bring in your siblings to US as Pr.

Can even siblings be brought to the US by citizens easily?

I thought it's spouse or parents and kids?

siblings comes through H1b or any work visa categories, when filing for GC they file as one that has imidiate family member in the US or employer files for you.
The Indians where the main cause of h1b to GC difficulties, Many of them came as tech experts [many were unqualified] they end up doing menial jobs
If gat anything thing of value in you they will never let you go. Thee US needs people that gat the sauce
Me I am migrating with the exceptional talent visa nxt year.

I just came across this thread.

Anyone going to a country to study with the aim of staying back is taking a gamble. It can either work or not.

The whole purpose of studying abroad is for better education not to remain there. That’s why it’s hard to switch from study visa to PR.

I do not blame them as well.
If you think about it from another perspective, you wouldn’t fault them. Imagine if Nigeria was like U.K. or all them countries, then people from chad or other these yeye countries are coming to take your jobs and benefit from your country. How would you feel? You will be like ogbeni o, Abeg all these people should go back. Same thing with Ghana must go.

So it makes sense as to why they don’t want people to stay back after studying. They have already rendered the service you paid for; Oya start going. It’s only if you’re an asset that they can reconsider. Who doesn’t want an asset? Unfortunately most immigrants are liabilities than assets. One man will carry his 5 kids in the name of dependents. They are studying for free. On top tax payers money.

**********************************************
With this being said, it’s advisable to study in countries where there’s low or no tuition.
Getting Canada , US & Germany visa now is very hard from Nigeria but easier outside.

So if one has 6m for example.
You can go to universities in Europe that charge like €2k per year. Usually you get 9-12months to stay back & find work. If you’re not able to secure work, you can now start applying to all them Canada (as it will be easier) with your remaining balance of 6m plus money you would have made from studying in that European country. Hopefully things get better after this CONVID19 & these countries will stop being strict on immigrants for no reason. After all we are one. What affects another, affects all of us. Also studying in Europe motivates you to learn a Language which is a +1 on your CV. You also get to build your travel history because travelling within Europe is very cheap.

This is better than carrying your whole 6m to study in the U.K. because it’s a popular destination & English is spoken. At the end of the day, you will find yourself struggling to get a job if you’re not into the medical field. The two years that’s shaking everyone will come and pass. By then you will now start thinking of doing another masters to remain or Oyibo to marry or all that nonsense. The U.K. is good but you have to research well before coming. Getting PR in the U.K. is very very hard. The US is even better because if you marry akata, you get green card. In the U.K., it will take a lot before you get PR through that route. If they also catch that you were working more than 20 hours during your study years, I’m very sorry for you.

I’ve come to realise that all these popular countries have nothing to offer as compared to ones that aren’t popular. U.K./ US are third world countries wearing Gucci Belt. Go to Estonia and see magic. Or Denmark or Luxembourg. You won’t even believe that you’re on earth. Advanced technology to the core. Visit Asia & see What’s up.

Plus all these unpopular countries are were you can even easily settle down. Either through studies or work or being partnered with a citizen. I have a friend in Switzerland . He moved there from U.K. after he came back from study abroad. Till today I don’t know what convinced him but when I visited him there, I was very impressed with his standard of living. See better apartment with correct window views.
He got a job at the university where he studied abroad & they sponsored his work visa. He is also engaged to a local. He speaks German very well now as well. I can bet that he would have never gotten such opportunity in the U.K. easily.

Throughout my stay I kept thinking about my life in the U.K. lmao. I have a good job as well but honestly when the tax system deals with you , you just have to humble yourself. It took me time to even get this job here. After my Bsc (4 years) no work. Then I did a masters (1 yr) no work. I couldn’t afford to go back to Nigeria so I started doing another masters again (1yr) and that’s when I finally got a job. This was after thousands of applications. 80% of them came back as rejection.

U.K. is very depressing, nothing special. His apartment in the U.K. will cost me about £1,200 per month if not more.

I know my story is getting long, it’s isolation that has given me time.

All in all, research other countries.
Stop rushing to US and the rest.

Ignore any typos please
Just finished eating
Don’t have time to start cross checking

Let me give you a brief opinion about each country:
US - Their schools are overrated and expensive. Upon graduation you will not be allowed to stay back except it's an IVY league schools ( Harvard, yale, princeton, Stanford, Columbia MIT, Brown etc) since you want to relocate US is a no no

UK - Very easy to get admission and it's quite pricey too but like the US you cannot stay back after graduation.

Canada - this is by far the best choice for the following reasons
1.) Affordable school fees
2.) Friendly and tolerate environment
3.) You can stay back after graduation with a post graduate work permit (pgwp), its 1 yr prep for 1 yrs program and 3yr pgwp for programs of 2yrs or more. This us important because you are expected to use the work permit to get a job and process your permanent residence.

With this canada far outweigh the others for young single guys and even families.

Go to canada and see yourself prosper
Can one fully set up businesses in Canada.. I heard there were limits to wealth one can accumulate due to govt policies.

For Canada:
The most convenient method is to apply to a certificate program that lasts 18-24 months. These programs are usually relatively cheap and you could pay for them yourself if you work well (within legal limits).

After the program, you will get a work permit equal to the length of the program. Then after that, depending on the province you choose, you get permanent residence. Many colleges will give you admission before you can finish saying I want to apply.

Remember that your bachelor's degree will have to be evaluated and employers do not value foreign bachelor's highly.

Fine-tune your approach by looking at jobs in the cities that interest you.

Check out Germany, Brazil, Korea, Scandinavia, etc. I know someone who studied French and international studies in Ibadan, got a fully funded scholarship to do Masters in Brazil, finished and got full funding to do PhD there too then did a test sabbatical in Canada. At that point, it was his decision whether to move to Canada or stay in Brazil.

The last time I tried their certificate Programme. The tuition fees I saw was on the high side. Can you mention any cheap college for Engineering?
Re: I Need Your Migration Advice Please, I'm About To Make A Life Changing Decision. by cooooooks(m): 1:50am On Apr 04, 2020
Get a certificate program in:
- Montreal
- Manitoba
- Vancouver
- Alberta

Some colleges tailor their programs around the students to allow them to work. Sometimes they compress their programs into Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, or only weekends, etc.

Choose a certificate that is in high demand and choose a college/program that offers work experience.

I wonder why some of us are discouraging the one that studied geology to change to IT course related. Do you think that people studying geosciences, especially geophysics are not being taught on how to use IT applications in the interpretation of geophysical problems. There's a wide use of applications like python, Ubuntu, Matlab, etc in deep machine learning, geophysical inversion, seismological studies. Note that machine learning with the used of the various algorithm model is vital in understanding facies distribution, identification of both structural and stratigraphic traps in oil exploration , subsurface exploration, earthquake studies, geothermal energy, etc. The guy that studied geology have a wide range of opportunities in this modern world relating to understanding the subsurface. I will appeal to us to know facts before discouraging anybody. Thank you

Hi guys!

I and a friend are looking to migrate to the same country by January 2021 via post-graduate studies and we don't want to make the wrong decision. Your advice would be appreciated.

We've narrowed the countries down to three (U.S, Canada, and the U.K.). Although the dream country is the U.S., we're looking for one out of these three that is;

A. Easy to get a job in and stay back after graduation (with a high chance of getting a residence permit)

B. Relatively inexpensive (Although cost would not be a big issue, but the easier it is to get funding and GA positions, the better)

Quick profile of the two of us;

Person A studied Geology

Person B studied History and International Studies

I'm aware those in the STEM field have a higher chance of getting jobs and it's difficult to get a H1-B U.S Visa (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Given the recent change in U.S. immigration laws, which one of these three countries do we stand the highest chance of getting jobs and residing after studies?

Please advise.

Thank you very much!

Can this get to the front page, please? I need as many contributions as I can get. Thanks.
Scratch the UK outta your list.
Canada or the US.
As long as you've got the funds, c'est pas complique.

Chemical engineering, but I've not yet done a lot of research on Canadian universities.

Let's say I'm going on scholarship, because actually that is the plan, how much will it cost to write all the necessary exams, get a visa, pay for a flight ticket, and such. In short, if I'm going to study in Canada on scholarship how much should I be ready to raise?

If you already have a B.Sc, the fees will not be so much and there are opportunities for scholarship.

To be admitted, you will need your B.Sc and IELTS. I don't think you need any other examination. At least, not for Canada.

Thank you very much for the info, really helpful.
But one thing is still missing, bro. You said not much money is needed, but then what is not much to you may be enormous to me.
Please like what range? Lets say plus or minus 1million.
Re: I Need Your Migration Advice Please, I'm About To Make A Life Changing Decision. by cooooooks(m): 5:22am On Jan 04, 2021
True, true. That's why I said it depends on the province, school & program.

For a Bachelor's program, I think the cheapest university tuition should be ~$10,000 a year which is ~N3 million. Less for Certificates & Diplomas.

You usually need less for Master's programs. Some Thesis Master's program turn out to be net positive when grants, invigilating, TA work & scholarships are considered.

However, you must have a proof of liquid funds for the total amount: academic & living expenses combined; when you apply for a visa.
