One may be wonder what exactly the function of these traditional rulers? Traditional rulers are like mayors of the village, towns or cities. If you are from small town you will realize the importance of traditional rulers. They coordinate the activities of their towns. They also work with government and security agencies to ensure good security in their domains. Traditional rulers represent the history of that particular place. They are the historical link to the ancestors and forefathers. |

Is Wasiu not a typical yoruba man, why cant he be appointed? Fayemi just hads less than 4 years ooo, those kings will be in power till they die. If he does not want to be miserable all the rest of his life, He should just let them be. Yoruba culture has been there b4 Nigeria was even given its name, it can never be politicised . If fayemi go through with this and the Yoruba let go of it, it will be a shame to the OBA council, They need to show fayemi, just a little sample. 2 Likes |

trutht828: A former PDP governor of Kebbi State dethroned the Emir of Gwandu. That was the first political dethronement and desecration of traditional institution in this 4th republic. So you see, this has nothing to do with party. 1 Like |

Ornament2003: The Ooni of Ife stool is the most superior royal stool in Yoruba land without any argument. However, as a result of empire building and military conquest, the Alaafin ruled over a very significant part of Yoruba land at a point in our history. During that period, the Ooni was recognized as the spiritual head while the Alaafin was the political/administrative head. So you see, both of them have a legitimate claim to Yoruba leadership. As regards the Mayegun title, K1 is simply trying to promote the title beyond its relevance. He is the Mayegun of Oyo and not Mayegun of Yoruba land. The only title that cut across all Yoruba land is the “Aare Oona Kankan Ofo” title that is currently being held by Iba Gani Adams. 5 Likes 1 Share |

iammo: The irony is that while you claimed to have "quality education and access to libraries", your assertions sound shallow and project you as a delusional ignoramuse. Awolowo dethroned the father of your current almighty Alaafin and NOTHING happened to him. Life is all about merriments and woes, so trying to ascribe his woes to the repercussions of dethroning a primitive traditional rulers is a sort of religion buffoonery unexpected of a supposed educated mind. Now let's talk about the points you raised, you said he never became president as a result of the act, Who did Abiola dethroned that cast a spell on him to block him from becoming president and even dying in the process. Awolowo went on to live for more than 30 years after deposing the man and died at a RIPE Age of 78 as a NATIONAL HERO with numerous legacies, while your Almighty Shaman has faded into oblivion even long time before he died. You said he lost his son but even the Prophet (PBUH) lost his only son on a day of joy, was he cursed? certainly No, that's life, tragedy happens. So get off the illusion that something catastrophic will happen to any governor who depose a traditional ruler. He's at liberty to do so. The ruler's status nothwithstanding 2 Likes 2 Shares |

nickyvil: You runs too much ..... this letter is not the same as then (politics fight) those who removed Alain then was his people not awolowo also Alafin then in support of one party which power is not in their hands.... I can say it with a little thing I knew about being a king in Yoruba land not a politician endorsements.... can I remind you..... Gov Ladoja then...... they removed first citizen... Oniwo of Iwo land said something in brief if Alafin order but if he is not ko si ase. |

BlackfireX: A lot of people don't learn from history and so history sometimes likes to repeat itself. Have you ever read of Alaafin Adeyemi II and Chief Bode Thomas (same Bode Thomas) you must have heard the name before. I just hope history is kind not to repeat itself this time. Arrogance goes before destruction. |

Read Section 28 (i & ii) of the Traditional Rulers & Chiefs Law, 1979, you will learn more .. A sitting governor will remove the monarch after issuing queries and nothing will happen. British colonial have made it possible and it's constitutional that's why you see no governors intervene in sanusi saga despite been close friend to elites. Each state government have right to either remove or install and for your information I'm from ijebu .. Awujale have be dethroned in the past. Obas even reports to local government chairman not even the governor of the states. Totalconcept: 1 Like 1 Share |

Fayemi that is not in support of Umar Abdullahi Ganduje's dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is trying so hard to do the same in his own domain. |

MyVILLAGEpeople: Same Obasanjo have been messed with by his own surbodinates several times, so there is nothing new about all those. Infact that's how you know a king that has levels, a king who can engage the president of a nation. So it's just power tussle. Obasanjo was supposed to have dethroned Awujale back then now, that's is when we would know he meant business. He won't want to be unfortunate. lol |

President can't remove obas, but state government can, during the period Awujale supported then governor gbenga Daniel which lead to taking over ogun state by apc. Karac: |

nickyvil: So the issue is that Obasanjo called him a liar and so? Awujale supported Gbenga Daniel and he did his 8 years. The next gov that came also got support from Awujale, did his 8 years. So is the present gov. What's the issue gangan? because I don't get ur point o. Or you thought Gbenga Daniel did only 4 years? He was gov from 2003-2011 1 Like |

The issue here is Fayemi have problem with some obas in his domain(state) and he have the power to remove them if he desires. He already sanctions them if they refused to obey his sanction they will be dethroned unless He changes his mind or people please on obas account.. Remember Osomole removed oba during his tenure as the governor..the same awujale have been dethroned in the past during western primer era and re stalled back by Diya Karac: |
Re: Alaafin Writes Fayemi, Asks Him To Stop Actions Against Traditional Rulers by nickyvil: 1:10pm On Mar 14, 2020 |
What I'm saying in essence is obasanjo don't have the right to remove him but if He falls out with his governor, he might be removed so he knows how to play his game right and indirectly didn't pass his bandary. |

nickyvil: He had several altercations with then governor of Ogun state Olabisi Onabanjo. The governor suspended and subsequently deposed the Awujale. The Awujale challenged that decision in court, the court then ruled that the decision of the state governor to depose the Awujale was null and void. The state governor was going to appeal that ruling when the military coup came. Bisi Onabanjo was removed from office as a result of the coup. Then came a military governor, Oladipo Diya who reinstated the Awujale back to the throne. Bisi died 7 years after while Awujale is still standing tall, infact his reigns has lasted almost for the duration of the entirety of Bisi's lifetime (Bisi died at 63 years while Awujale has reigned for 60 years already and still counting). The AWUJALE knows his onions, he cannot be messed with! |
