I may have to agree with you on respecting boundaries. She's been nothing but good to me, all my in laws infact.

I just wish she would know that I need her to step in now. I will talk to her like you suggested. Thank you

I was also gonna say take it easy on mama she’s probably respecting boundaries. I have only boys so I am now more lenient towards MILs I am beginning to feel thier plights more LOL.

How about planning or agreeing on breakfast with your help the night before ? For eg you can ask her to peel the yam , boil the beans or whatever before you’re up and then you get up maybe try eggs get it served and go back to bed. Same with other meals too . If she enters your kitchen you nor go like am oh cheesy

Brief rant!

So my MIL is currently doing omugwo in my place. Baby is 12days old and I'm currently still healing from a really painful episiotomy. I also have a 2yr old who goes to sch during the week.

Problem is...my MIL likes to be served! Like...served! When I was pregnant and she was visiting, I would make her meals and serve her myself, she would make comments about not wanting to stress me but what was the alternative?

Now that I have just had a baby, the story is same. She doesn't go into the kitchen to prepare meals or even attempts. She mainly just bathes the baby and carry her sometimes.

I still have to instruct the help on what to make, send her to the market etc. If I don't come out of the room till 10am, my MIL wont eat...almost like shes waiting for me to make her food happen.

I'm stressed! From not sleeping almost all night to still having to think of food for my MIL is stressing my brain.

Thankfully, I have a help who can 'serve' her. My help only started cooking now that I gave birth, I did it myself prior. So I would just send my help to ask my MIL what she will like to eat.

Main issue now is that my help has suddenly announced that her parent want her back home. So shes leaving at this time...I'm just all over the place and stressed afresh!

NO HELP!!!! And my MIL wont near the kitchen. My hubby is also annoyed but there is only so much he can say.

I have legit been taking cereals because I cant easily get what I need to eat eg peppersoup, vegetables etc. I'm just tired and upset.

Can anyone pls connect me to an Agency that provides Helps? I'm officially tired of these people

Mama, u just described my MIL and of a truth all she's doing is respecting boundaries. I had painful epis dat refused to heal during my first delivery and my MIL is all shades of caring and helping except for d cooking part, it was my friend dat comes to do d cooking every 2days, then one day I tearfully told her "mumsy I've missed ur efo riro and moimoi elewe" we all laughed and MIL said she didn't know I wanted her to cook, I said me dat I'm managing to eat. So she promised to cook Vegetable soup dat very day, I will just write a list of what to buy and send someone to d market. From then she did all d cooking till she left and me and hubby really enjoyed her cooking, infact we appreciate her by fighting over d last bite at times grin grin

Long story short, find a way to talk to her, she might not even know u will be pleased if she cook for u

Thanks Mama, this is fully noted.

I now know that my MIL is simply respecting boundaries so it will be easier to talk to her on this basis.

Sorry about your pains mama. Most times when you stop cold turkey style, the pain is very much. Some mamas recommend putting a leaf of cabbage in the fridge and placing it inside your bra. You can try this. Either ways the pain should be much reduced within a week.

How old is the child?
What was the dr’s diagnosis?
How far into the treatment are you?

Once the immune system is compromised and there’s an illness/sickness loss of appetite will occur. Keep offering different meals till you find one she will accept- cereals, beverages , biscuits, juice just something to sustain her till the appetite picks up.

She may accept plain pap / oats or with a little milk. Try. A few morsels of swallow and ewedu, boiled Titus fish

You can use salt water and cotton wool to clean the mouth for now. She will cry but the mouth will be clean and some of the bitter taste in her tongue may go off.

It differs and not a generalized stuff. Some ovulation is on even without the menses.

If you are trying for a new baby you might want to see ur gynae.

My baby will be 4months by this week Thursday, he has been stooling which is greenish in colour I was told by people around that its teething.
I got teething powder, that has reduced but what baffles me now is he doesn't want to eat.

Most time I tried to give him breastmilk he will decline, he is taking Nan1, since Saturday he has refused to take it. He is loosing weight already.

I don't know what to do so he can eat.

Take that baby to the hospital and stop listening to all these people always accrediting every sickness in babies to teething. Infact you don't even have any business with teething powder in the first place.

That your baby is declining breastmilk and loosing weight is enough pointer that there is an underlying sickness or infection. Please go and see a pediatrician, baby is too tender to assume or self medicate biko.

Can teething be associated with green stool I seriously doubt that. Please take him to the hospital. Biko!

This is how my neighbor lost her son in January because all the self acclaimed Doctors kept saying she shouldn't worry it's teeth that's disturbing him and by the time she changed her mind to take him to the hospital, the child died on the way. Please take baby to the hospital so he can be treated properly.
