Just because you have doesn't mean it's a majority. Many might have, but after all the expenses for a single week, the whole money is gone. Basically, most ppl leave from hand to mouth in Nigeira.

How do we enforce a quarantine in Nigeria? We have sit at home experience, but nlc is silent.

Worse this is a country with half baked infrastructure.how do you quarantine when there is poor power supply and no running water? How many people have savings? The us has amazon to ship food to people if it comes to that.

And on twitter, it is clear that the masses think this is some sort of hoax. ( they really have No choice but to believe that) I can afford to panic because I am middle class and have enough savings to stockpile fuel etc. what does a person living day by day do?

My real worry personally ( my man egunmogaji2 resident gun nut will laugh) is that I don’t have a gun. There is every possibility things will go full mad max if we get an Italy style collapse. People break into houses to vandalize cars. Nothin stops them from breaking into a house with a stockpile. These are scary times.

Sometimes one has to just have to think and behave like criminals.

Officer, where did the gun come from? Oh, I wrestled it away from the knucklehead. It was during the wrestling that he got perfect three taps in his cranium.

Officer, you say that this is not a local gun but an expensive Glock? Well, you know maybe he’s a yahoo yahoo robber.

I built two safe rooms into my house. One above ground and a bigger one flat underground bunker.

But if shyte really hits the fan then off to the village.

I don't hate. I'm Nigerian and I mean well for my people. When jonathan was quiet on corruption, I came here to attack him and when he stemmed the tide of ebola, I also commended him. Fashola cannot be forgotten in a hurry on the way ebola virus was contained. You and I know Buhari isn't trying at all and there's nothing to appreciate about him. Shebi he sent her daughter to school in the uk, instead of fixing our moribund educational system and put her daughter in one of our schools to prove he's a true leader and anti corruption crusader. Himself can't even embark on his usual trips now for treatment abroad. Had he fixed our redundant health institutions, would there have been any need to waste our scarce resources overseas? Amazingly, politicians have suddenly stopped travelling out to receive treatment. The masses would be happy now. why did he recall her daughter from the uk na? Why not allow her stay there until the epidemic fizzles? All of them are afraid now. Hypocrites everywhere in govt.

TRUMP HAS ADDRESSED the american people more than a dozen times since the outbreak and infact gives daily updates and achievements.

Over here, our president's publicity secretary issued a Press statement after weeks.

China recovered because they are a hardcore state with zero human rights. They enforced a quarantine. If it was FESTAC ( where I live) in China , they would have welded all the gates and built a wall around the city. That is what they did in Wuhan. Straight up city 17 shit. No other nation on the planet has the resources and ruthlessness to do it. Their hiding the information slowed down the worlds response. Imagine if everyone knew from the beginning, this might have Ben better contained and the world might have better coordinated.
china did not hide any information, the truth is most countries did not prepared for it on time. Most countries have embassies in China so they will have first hand information from the locals.

He should have just kept shut. If someone comes up to you on the street running and says; "there's no need to run away", then runs away, what will you think? Now that he has announced the lack of need for panic buying, everybody is going to think that there's an urgent need for panic buying. Brace yourselves.

the same trump that spent months denying even as his on intelligence official were giving him briefing about the danger? the same trump that keeps talking BS? the same trump who is turning the briefings to his maga rally bs?

if after everything that has happened, you still belive trump is a leader, then you are completely gone.

And what impact has the address made

Has it addressed the spread of the virus in the US.

Same man that called it a Democrats Hoax, Chinese virus, and even accused immigrants at the Southern and Northern boarders.

Hello! If Trump had done what Buhari did, America won't be in this deep shit. Buhari was still pro active without talking. Now it's spreading like wild fire in the US.

Globally, this virus is causing more harm to our social behaviour than to our physical bodies. I think it is time the media houses/social media are clamped down, forcing them to balance out the news by feeding us with useful information that is stripped of gloom and doom or risk being shut down or fined heavily.

If this virus had occurred a decade ago when our social media lives were still at its infantile stages, this would not have happened. Now, anyone can cook up a story from the dark depths of their sick minds and it will be taken as the gospel truth courtesy of the social media.

We all have a responsibility to end this crisis caused by this pathogen, let us hold unto what makes us human to save this race.

I never liked this guy's style before but I think my opinion is changing the way he's been up and doingn on the Coronavirus issue. People should come first in every thing government does because they're not governing animals.

My concern still goes to the way president Buhari is handling the matter. He didn't even come to the media except once. He keeps speaking through garba shehu and oshiomohle. Who knows if garba shehu was the one who sent himself and baba didn't seem to be aware if it. World presidents allay fears by coming on air to address their people on a regular basis . This isn't good enough as a leader.

This was a president that had all the resources and power to stop what's happening today but down played it. Now it's in and the country does not even have enough medical supplies to combat virus.

don't mind that guy, fda did not debunks Trump's assertion, they only said it is not approved yet, meaning it still has to go through rigorous tests before approval.

Here’s what actually happened:
Trump announced that based on anecdotal evidence FDA had agreed to approve chloroquine for TRIALS on patients “immediately”.
That is something FDA would normally never do - they rely on solid science not anecdotal evidence.
FDA then came out to clarify they did not approve chloroquine for use against corona as some people misunderstood (otherwise doctors would start prescribing it)

i will say what i have said in other threads

a test kit is 300 pounds. we do not have the resources to test everyone. the best they will do is test people coming into nigeria, or people with direct contact.

my sis is a doctor in us. my paddy is a doctor in uk. they are running out of respirators, they are managing test kits. and those are countries with investment in the health sector. in a way, it is probably better buhari says nothing.because if they ask him or his admi any questions, the bs will be worse than the nonsense from trump

think about it. that italian - do you really think they could have traced everyone he had contact with? his driver buys gala with n100. the hawker gives someone else the n100 as change. that one pays danfo. in one day, that n100 has traveled among 50 people. it is out there.

this government is doing next to nothing. they are sitting on their arses and hoping it will pass. they are literally too broke. have you not seen pictures of the dilapidated isolation wards?

Take time n read your comment n analyse it. You started the comment on the defensive about my earlier comment. Saying that you are a Nigerian n mean well for the country. You gave instances of your reactions to Jonathan n Fashola on corruption n Ebola.
Bam!.... You lost it. You went full throttle on your normal hateful bashing n personal convictions of Buhari n his family members.

no need o talk about the Us. they have an idiot in the white house. that one is a special case. the fucker disbanded the pandemic response office. he denied for two months while his intelligence briefing were all highlighting the threat. republican senators were echoing his no need to panic bs while dumping their stock because of intelligence briefing on the impact of the virus

as for his task force the only competent person t is dr fausi. everyone else is a sycophant that licks trumps ares and says he is doing a great job.

this is what happens when you burn it all down, get rid of competent people, gut budgets for a meaningless wall. now there is a crisis and they are fked.

The point remains that as of date, the virus had been contained in Nigeria. A country with less resources, finance and tech, but was proactive.

What will you say if you were to use same sense of judgement with regards to the US.

You have to be honest and transparent about this.
