I and a friend was discussing about moving to smaller towns with 3000 population. But some friends are discouraging it. I read in a journal that there are jobs in those smaller towns and cities, great urban life, cheaper accommodation for immigrants. But some of us love the bigger cities where we watch skyscrappers beautify our eyes. I'm still in Nigeria, but considering moving to smaller towns with population less than 10k when i get to canada. I hope i'm not making any mistake

It depends on what your skillset is and your work experience. Someone who's work experience has been at the kind of work you typically find in the HQ of a bank might not get jobs in the smaller towns. You will apply for Finance jobs (example) and they won't call you for interview because of your skillset. A lawyer might not be able set up practice there, etc. What is usually readily available will be customer service and retail jobs. So do a quick check of available jobs there and see if it matches your skillset.

Also, it's a wrong mindset to have that people love bigger cities for skyscrapers. There is a reason that bigger cities attract more people.

OMG!!! where is this location, I was initially looking for 2bdr, before I finally settle for this one on Oxoford and Mornington, but not regret tho, cos then it is really massive as in really really big. Hydro is however I use it, parking is 25, internet is like 45 + hst (carrytel unlimited )

I don't think there's any airline that would allow you to board with just COPR. You have to remember that people have been sent back in the past with COPR.

Please does anyone know if cargo from nigeria to canada still runs at this time? I mean...has any restriction been put on that because of the corona virus issue?

A recession is on it's way. Unemployment rate is indeed going to shoot up. It may trigger changes to immigration rules, or an hold will be placed on programs till the countries of the world recover.

It's not easy for those of us that recently landed that were looking to get jobs.. We are just here spending our POF.. Atleast you're still in Nigeria with jobs.. Settling down anywhere isn't easy, Corona virus made it worse..

We're using this time to develop ourselves for when the job market kicks off again... if it becomes worse, we go just find any job to do, just to hold body..

But hey, no regrets being here.. I'm sure we go dey fine las las.. God dey

indeed.com. if you cant get a so called good job you will start from something noni like customer care, admin assistant, warehouse. Or be like some indians who go back home. Nothing is guaranteed. Persevere and hope for the best

It really will take a while for the job market to come back up. Some people who can't work from home are losing their jobs. Small businesses are shutting down. I'd honestly not advise any prospective immigrant, who has a job in Nigeria, to land within the next 3 months.
