She had an Air Canada ticket too but you can try and give us feedback

Pls was your friend on a direct flight or connecting through Ireland? I guess the question is if you have a direct flight to Canada... in my case from the UK. Will i be allowed to land with my CoPR? I assume with CoPR air canada may allow me to board anyway... but just not sure.

I and a friend was discussing about moving to smaller towns with 3000 population. But some friends are discouraging it. I read in a journal that there are jobs in those smaller towns and cities, great urban life, cheaper accommodation for immigrants. But some of us love the bigger cities where we watch skyscrappers beautify our eyes. I'm still in Nigeria, but considering moving to smaller towns with population less than 10k when i get to canada. I hope i'm not making any mistake

It depends on what your skillset is and your work experience. Someone who's work experience has been at the kind of work you typically find in the HQ of a bank might not get jobs in the smaller towns. You will apply for Finance jobs (example) and they won't call you for interview because of your skillset. A lawyer might not be able set up practice there, etc. What is usually readily available will be customer service and retail jobs. So do a quick check of available jobs there and see if it matches your skillset.

Also, it's a wrong mindset to have that people love bigger cities for skyscrapers. There is a reason that bigger cities attract more people.

OMG!!! where is this location, I was initially looking for 2bdr, before I finally settle for this one on Oxoford and Mornington, but not regret tho, cos then it is really massive as in really really big. Hydro is however I use it, parking is 25, internet is like 45 + hst (carrytel unlimited )

Naijaforeigner:

I and a friend live in a 2 bedroom apartment in London and we pay $1,275 monthly. This excludes monthly charge for WiFi ($30 - unlimited for virgin mobile), hydro ($27), washing and drying of cloths ($2.5 for washing and $2.5 for drying).

And yes, most people from Toronto are now moving to london which has made price of buying and renting of houses so expensive.

I don't think there's any airline that would allow you to board with just COPR. You have to remember that people have been sent back in the past with COPR.

Hi all!

Please does anyone know if cargo from nigeria to canada still runs at this time? I mean...has any restriction been put on that because of the corona virus issue?

Response urgently needed.

Thanks and God bless you

On Huron street.

A big spacious 1 bedroom apartment for the price you pay is not bad.

I know Morrington very well.

A Canadian man was telling me that immigration rule will change due to the recent coronavirus.

Many are hoping to immigrate and get better jobs in Canada this year. Not being negative but some news I'm getting is signalling that there might be increase in unemployment rate, immigration rules would change. Those that have landed in Canada, what do you think

A recession is on it's way. Unemployment rate is indeed going to shoot up. It may trigger changes to immigration rules, or an hold will be placed on programs till the countries of the world recover.

It's not easy for those of us that recently landed that were looking to get jobs.. We are just here spending our POF.. Atleast you're still in Nigeria with jobs.. Settling down anywhere isn't easy, Corona virus made it worse..

We're using this time to develop ourselves for when the job market kicks off again... if it becomes worse, we go just find any job to do, just to hold body..

But hey, no regrets being here.. I'm sure we go dey fine las las.. God dey smiley smiley

Please how can one break into project management in Canada, specifically IT project management.

What courses/certifications can help with the transition?

Many PR were senior bosses in Nigeria, to start advertising Walmart and Amazon jobs may be depressing to some. I'm curious, where can one go to for White collar jobs, any good job website?

Hopefully. The virus won't be around for long if people practice social distancing and stay home as much as possible.

In Sask, we can now call police to inform of anyone not isolating on return from outside Canada.

My advert is for those that need it., A lot of companies are taking a step back from recruitment as they are looking at the long term effects of Covid-19 on the economy. People that have landed and may not have the opportunity to find white collar jobs will appreciate the information rather than spend their POF. No one knows how long this will last.

Also, there is dignity of labour here. Whatever you are doing to put food on the table as long as it is legal.

For everyone asking if you can travel with COPR, Provided your application was approved before March 16 which the travel restrictions was placed then you can travel into Canada. However, you would be required to self isolate for 14 days.

I was meant to start a new job on Wednesday. Almost everything set. Just to undergo a short training. They just sent an email that the offer is on hold till further notice.
I'm trying not to think too much of it.

I just read that Airports (Lagos, Abuja, Kano, PH and Enugu) are shutting down international flights for one month in Nigeria, starting from Monday the 23rd. Only international emergency and essential flights are allowed.

In other news:
Within Canada, boundaries are closing. NWT is closing it's borders to non-essential travel which I find interesting. Chief Medical officers of Health of provinces are also in discussion about restricting travel between provinces.

It really will take a while for the job market to come back up. Some people who can't work from home are losing their jobs. Small businesses are shutting down. I'd honestly not advise any prospective immigrant, who has a job in Nigeria, to land within the next 3 months.
