Even promotion in NNPC is based on quota and we are here discussing contract staff conversation. Contract staff are support staff,so how can they become full staff in the senior cadre? Contract staff are given specific assignment under a normal staff to assist, Infact they are not reflecting in the reporting system.because they are to help a normal staff to meet his own target for the company overall success. So they are tools to get what you want and not what is wanted by the cooperation.
For instance, as an officer, you now come to report that your tools should be recognized,
rather than your overall success

Mumu... May ignorance not kill you.. If are in the system, your stupid assertion is wrong. If you are not in the system just shut your mouth

Read the link below to understand why Corona virus doesn't have anything to do with oil price crash below $30. The oil sector would no longer be sufficient to support our revenue. Though Nigeria is still running on profit because cost of crude oil per barrel 15-18$ but is already re-strategizing for the long term on use of Pension funds for infrastructure development. OPEC might die if there's no intervention and Saudi controlling the oil market(using price power) having cost per barrel below $8.

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/20/perspectives/saudi-arabia-oil-market/index.html

So if i understand you correctly, you believe cost of crude went down only because Saudi Arabia is flooding the market?

Guys, abeg I am sorry. The lashing is too much and unexpected.

I wish everyone the very best. Wish GTs and EHs success.

I digress: Just to contribute on the ongoing debate

The oil price drop is caused by two factors - oversupply by Saudi is the highest driver (like 70% of the cause) followed by low demand due to the pandemic. Saudi has promised to push in more barrels in April so expect even lower prices in April. The next OPEC+ meeting is not likely to hold anytime soon at least until June. So expect sustained low prices till at least June. CNN has also reported the pandemic may last for up to a year. Hopefully mankind will discover a vaccine before then. So oil prices is not gonna rise in weeks.

Even without oversupply, oil prices wouldn't have gone above the 40s due to the pandemic.

Also, the cost of producing oil in Nigeria is one of the very highest in the world, between $25 and $35 depending on the area. Whoever said $15 is not familiar with the Nigerian oil industry. Nigeria is currently producing literally at a loss. Also remember that we are not able to sell our crude as we are outpriced in the international market by lower cost producers like Saudi and Russia. So Nigeria isn't making any money right now. Worse still, the ECA is almost empty. Hard times ahead.

Mele kyari said that. Bros, try and read more before you argue.

What Mele Kyari said is untrue. He is just saving face. Nigeria produces at much higher prices. You need to add security cost and multiple taxation from different government agencies.

Even Russia which produces at a lower cost averages $20 per barrel. Even Saudi produces at a higher cost than the $4 or $5 Kyari reported.

Oil Market price was dragged down by 2 things - coronavirus and market flooding with excess crude oil. Corona virus alone would hv dragged the down say 10% while market flooding dragged it down say 50%.

I had to raise this market flooding drag because People where thinking the price will normalize once the Corona virus pandemic goes away.

Oil price will mildly improve after the pandemic but will still trade at range of $30 -$37. This is still a clear problem for Nigeria revenue, except a political/diplomatic intervention to cub excess world oil production.

Just to comment on some of the attacks on Feex. It is understandable for many people to be uncomfortable with what he said, considering that tension is high that the recruitment for GTs just concluded and EHs are being expectant. However, when somebody brings up a dissenting view you do not agree with, you should consider the possibilities/probability of what the person said and if you think he is wrong, then state your rebuttal without resulting to insults so that the other person can reconsider his position.

He brought valid points regarding the global realities in the industry currently. The Nigerian government is running at a budget loss right now and there is no end in site. Oil companies all over the world are running at a loss and the first reaction is usually to cut spending either by canceling/reviewing projects, retrenchments, canceling recruitments, and forced retirements. Anything can happen so instead of insults, everyone both GTs and EHs still need to pray if you are the praying type, or hope.

Nigeria is in a precarious situation regarding the oil industry generally and the future was even bleak before this price crash.

There is a way one can present his argument without sounding like a 'bad belle'. He spoke confidently about a recruitment he knew little about. Imagine saying those GTs that have probably resigned from their present jobs would have to wait for years before joining the corporation!

I am tired of all these high supply/low demand analysis. Please let this temporary market forces play out. Focus on your goal and not on what you cannot control.

Producing countries and consuming countries of hydrocarbons would resolve their issues.

It may not be temporary relatively. The oil market may remain over-supplied for decades to come. Also, by discussing this, Nigerians are focusing on the goal. The goal of most Nigerians is to work in the oil industry, so these are pertinent issues to discuss for anyone who has the goal of working in the oil industry, or even anyone already in the oil industry. Just because we cannot control it, does not mean it should not be discussed. In life, people discuss what they cannot control all the time.

What you can control, I believe,

Is to

1. Diversify your investment (if you have any). As long as you live in Nigeria, whether you earn in NGN or FX does not matter... the prices of goods will always catch up with you.

So, increase your absolute earning power...remove your disposable savings from the bank..and put them to work..and grow

2. Since Naira might, emphasis on might, get devalued further over the coming months...save in a more stable currency...remember..the war is between Saudi/Russia/USA

3. Learn more skills, a post-corona world will throw open huge opportunities..in waste management/public health/education/agriculture..identify something now..and learn

4. If all else fails, prepare to JAPA grin

Congrats to all new GTs.

Prepare your mind for the following:

(1)The coronavirus will most likely affect resumption date. State govts across the nation are banning large gatherings and minimising physical contacts as much as possible. It is clear your orientation will be postponed.

(2) The problem is further compounded by the extremely low oil prices which have not even bottomed out yet. Nigeria is currently producing at a loss with the current prices, and we are not even able to sell our crude. No oil firm recruits during periods of low oil prices. NNPC boss has emphasized the need to cost cuts to.produce at current prices. Most companies fire or place employees on furlough. So the orientation will be moved to much later date when or if things stabilise.

(3) You are yet to receive official appointment letter. You have only received a notification of success. By law, no company is not legally bound to recruit any candidate that has not yet received an offer letter. Even with official letters, there has been several cases where govts or insitiutions withdraw offer letters even after resumption with no consequences. So the current case is even more precarious.

I therefore foresee a situation where the new GTs are put on reservation list for several months or years. A worse case scenario is that the recruitment eventually be cancelled or extremely streamlined. Forget sentiments, this is a real scenario right here.

I therefore ask all new GTs to hope and pray this crisis pass as soon as possible. The longer it stays, the less chances you will be recruited.

LOL tongue tongue tongue

Well done, Mr xfire.

I would appreciate if you come up with one for recent graduates too, say graduates between year 2018 and 2020. The questions might be taken from Dragnet, GMAT, and the likes.

It would def. go a long way in preparing them for job aptitude tests.

It would be greatly appreciated if considered.

Cheers!

The world is humbled and God is always glorified. Only God must be glorified because He is always seated on the throne, and no other god existed before Him, neither will another exist after Him. He reigns forever.

Truth: Coronavirus will subside. E.H APL will surely be released! Raw truth! You can write it down.
