No Single Non Returning Nigerian Has Tested Positive To Coronavirus Except... by TonyeBarcanista(m): 5:30pm On Mar 25, 2020
By Tonyebarcanista

On February 27 when an unnamed Italian national (who came into Nigeria from Covid-19 ravaged Italy five days earlier and transited between Lagos and Ogun states) tested positive to the dreaded Coronavirus, there was pandemonium and fear among Nigerians, who reasoned that the index case might already have distributed the virus through the contact he made with those he came across with before he was diagnosed as well as those that might have had physical contact with those he was in contact with.

Many panicked, many prayed, some fasted while others became friends with Google search engine and WhatsApp broadcast messages. But a month after the index case, NOT a single person that came in contact with the Italian man displayed symptoms of the disease nor tested positive to it. This is in contrast with what is happening in Europe, USA, Iran, China and other countries, where hundreds of thousands of people contracted the virus do to contact with those already infected. In fact, this unexplained mystery caused many Nigerians to doubt the veracity and credibility of the report on the index case. Thankfully, the case was successfully treated and discharged three weeks after by Lagos state government

All Confirmed Cases Are Returnees From Abroad Except...
Furthermore, between the time that the index case was diagnosed and today (March 25), Nigeria has recorded up to 46 confirmed cases of those with the the Covid-19 virus according to the stat of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Interestingly all the 46 confirmed cases are returnees from abroad (United Kingdom, Germany, European Union, United States etc) and they all contracted the disease before coming into the country except one case in Ekiti state that is suspicious (I'll address this in the next paragraph). Even the one death recorded by Nigeria was a case that stayed and returned from the United Kingdom (where he contracted the virus).

The Controversial Ekiti Case...
Now talking about the case of the man that tested "positive" to the virus in Ekiti state.

The state government claimed that the man in question is a driver that drove a deceased American man that came into the country along with his female caregiver. According to the government, the Covid-19 test result of the American man is "inconclusive", the result of the female caregiver that came into the country with the American man and stayed with him is Negative, but they turned around to say the driver that drove him in Ekiti tested positive. How does that make sense? I am yet to see any inconsistent and inconclusive result since the beginning of the pandemic save this Ekiti case. We leave that to Ekiti state to answer.

No Non-Returning Family Member Of Confirmed Cases Have Tested Positive So Far
Another interesting fact about this pandemic is that the results of close family members of some of the cases who didn't visit any of the Coronavirus ravaged countries came negative even when the cases are positive.

For instance, while the son Nigeria's former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Muhammed Atiku was tested positive, his wife and child results came negative (although they were with him). Even the driver that drove him tested negative. Similarly, the family of the Speaker of Edo state house of assembly Friday Ekiyo, who just tested positive, all tested negative.

Coronavirus Is Indeed A Leveler...
Also, an interesting thing about this Covid-19 pandemic is that Nigeria, for the first time, is witnessing a situation where "big men" are preferring the dilapidated hospitals that they refused to fix to travelling to the United Kingdom, Germany, United States of America etc to seek medical help. These are people that have history of traveling overseas for ordinary slight headache or fever.

Similarly, Nigeria for the first time is witnessing a situation where diasporas are seeking ways to return home for their health sake than remain in diaspora

The most interesting part in all these is that we are witnessing for the first time that Nigeria would issue travel ban against United States, China, United Kingdom, European Union, Middle East etc. This has never happened before! Indeed, Coronavirus is a leveller.

Take Precautionary Measures And Stay Safe
Though the stats seem to favor Nigerians that didn't visit nor return from the Covid-19 ravaged countries (as seen in my earlier paragraphs) and I pray it remains so, I still urge everyone to take serious every precautions prescribed by global health professionals and government. This is the only way we can conquer and defeat this pandemic.

May God repose of those that lost their lives

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said

"If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place."

If mankind had adhered to this advice, the whole world won't be in this mess. But it is the solution every nation is trying to adopt.

OP, your post is misleading, not based on any scientific proof.
Where did you get your facts from?

The first infected person from Ogun State did not return from abroad.
He had never travelled out of Nigeria but only had contact with the index case (Italian man) and got infected.

Please, stop misleading Nigerians.
It's disgusting when I read such stories.

Nigeria has so many illiterates and stories like yours encourage them to care less about personal hygiene.
They go about claiming CoronaVirus cannot withstand Nigeria's hot weather.
They tell you Nigerians eat pepper and CoronaVirus does not agree with pepper. They claim the black man is super human
and CoronaVirus cannot kill a Nigerian man ... all sorts of made up stories like yours.

Im more concerned with the advantage this virus pose to Nigerians. We can condemn every political/religious leaders on our constituents to lead teams of house to house covid19 test. Let's see who loves the masses.

You may have a point. The virus does not thrive in a hot or humid environment. Even if it is transmitted in Nigeria most likely it will be in an air conditioned environment like also rock

Incorrect. There have in fact been 9 or 10 local transmissions.

The problem I am having is with our religious leaders. They have refused to listen to the government, how do you want the people to follow the rules. They have failed to say the truth to their followers, they made themselves demi-gods. We can't be holier than our creator. All they want is tithes and offering.

Government thought people would listen to their religious leaders hence, using it as an avenue to sensitize the people. It really baffles me when I drive around and see some religious centers worshipping. It sucks bitterly.

I now believe Baba Obasanjo, even if God comes down, it would be hard to govern Nigeria. Arrant bullshit

This statement of fact, methodically laid out, eloquently establishes a solid argument that the Corona virus, when imported into Nigeria by an airline passenger, is not only less likely to prove fatal to its victim, but is also far less likely to be transmitted to others in close proximity to the victim, in Sub-Saharan Africa, than is the case in Europe and Asia, where the contagion has spread like a raging wildfire in a windstorm.

Seasonal tropical heat lists prominently among the reasons proffered to explain why Nigeria and much of West Africa have THUS FAR escaped the brunt of this historic virus infestation, yet, even before this baffling mystery is eventually resolved by epidemiologists, there does appear to exist grounds for cautious and guarded optimism, that the exponential spread of mass death still sweeping much of the globe, will not be witnessed in tropical West Africa, Central America, and most of the Caribbean islands.

Until science catches up with the recorded data in order to explain what is truly at play, a grateful tip of the hat to the Grand Symphony Conductor in The Sky might be in order, given that it is for now only He/She, that knows why Mother Africa has been spared, at least thus far on this 25th day of March, 2020.
