@Oloworulz I disagree about the Third Mainland thing. The conception of the Third Mainland Bridge project was that of the first state governor, Mobolaji Johnson (of blessed memory) and was started by the state even though it was later projected into the FG plan because of fund inadequacy. So for the record, the Third Mainland Bridge wasn't started by Babangida; the Fg only came to the rescue because they were begged for support after it was clear the LASG of the time had undertaken a project bigger than her purse.
Having said that though, the BUHARI ADMINISTRATION DESERVE THE ACCOLADE FOR THIS RAIL PROJECT. I wonder what the PDP apologist are wailing about here. They claim their party signed the MOU but they failed to realise that the deal had been around for almost sixteen years, cancelled and revisited without any measure to put a start to it all those years
i don't understand why they are having problem giving honour to whom is due.

KPMG: Nigeria’s high speed rail is ‘world-class’

Nigeria’s high speed rail project initiated by President Goodluck Jonathan has been rated among the global top 100 world-class infrastructure projects by KPMG.

The rail will connect Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Warri, Bauchi, Abuja, and Port Harcourt and will cost the country $13 billion, much of which will be financed with a loan from the Export Import Bank of China.

The China Railway Construction Corporation has secured the contract to build the 3,218-kilometre network, which will be digitally operated using fibre-optic cables, radio communication and wireless services.

The project is designed to cover 54 stations and will take 25 years to build.

In the report, The Infrastructure 100: World Markets Report, the KPMG panel of judges said the project “will remove heavy freight from Nigeria’s stressed roads, could save the country millions on road maintenance”.

Other African projects on the list are: Khi Solar One (South Africa), Square Kilometer Array (South Africa), PRASA Rolling Stock (South Africa), Kudu Gas Field and CCGT Project (Namibia),Trans-Saharan Natural Gas Project (Nigeria to Algeria), Mombasa-Kigali Railway (Rwanda), KivuWatt (Rwanda), Jinja Bridge (Uganda), and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminal (Kenya).

In its note, KPMG said the report highlights key trends driving infrastructure investment around the world.

A global panel of industry experts identifies 100 of the world’s most innovative, impactful infrastructure projects showing how governments are coming together with the private sector to overcome funding constraints to finance and build projects that can improve quality of life – both solving immediate needs and planning for future societal demands.

The report looks at infrastructure based on the dynamics of four key markets: Mature International Markets (like Canada, Australia, and UK), Economic Powerhouses (including the US and BRIC countries), Smaller Established Markets (like Chile, Sweden, New Zealand, Korea and South Africa), and Emerging Markets (including a number of economies in Africa).

Splashme:
The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”

The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

You're just ignorant of how the rail projects work.
It's not about PDP or APC.

Remember, these projects are not funded by Buhari's FG.
The Chinese govt finances them directly from Beijing so, what will make them delay?
China is not known to abandon projects.

The Ajaokuta - Itakpe - Warri line was over 75% completed when GEJ left office.
Chinese CCEC were still working when Buhari/Amaechi took over in 2015.

The Abuja - Kaduna line was nearly 100% completed when GEJ left office.
The only remaining thing Amaechi did was the completion of the Idu terminal which the Catholic Church filed a law
suit against FG for forcefully taking over their land.

GEJ started the Kaduna - Abuja line in 2011 and by December 2015 it was fully completed. The Chinese govt did not delay
that project. The project did not last 10yrs, you lied. GEJ also started the Ajaokuta - Itakpe - Warri line in 2013. It's been completed
since 2018. China does not unnecessarily delay projects.

Why are you bursting the zonebees and their filthy lies so easily? cheesy grin

now to school you like my child.. it was very necessary for Buhari's regime to cut down excess spending when he inherited an economy in recession from shagari, shagari already owed many contractors, he was so desperate that he was making counter productive policy like Shagari's famous "Ghana must go" someone had to step in, cancel future project, and complete the few essential ones, while paying contractors and that's what Gen Buhari and Idiagbon did

as for the nonsense of jonathan starting it, my child that nonsense lie need to stop... Saraki approved the counter part funding for this project and Chinese loan was used to mobilise people to site, Osinbajo did ground breaking and Ameachi graciously supervised the project

It is not easy to defend me, my government – Buhari
June 2, 2018

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it was difficult for anybody to defend him or his administration.

The President said this on Friday when he received members of the Buhari Media Support Organisation at the Presidential Villa , Abuja.

Buhari noted that members of the group, and other Nigerians who have been defending him and his government , had been doing so as a sacrifice.

He said, “I don’ t think I can thank you enough for your steadfastness under very difficult circumstances.

“It is not easy to defend this administration and more in particular to defend me. But your consistency has given me a lot of confidence.

ZombieNation:
The canker worm Tinubu was the first governor to turn state house of assemblies to rubber stamps.
The Lagos state national assembly passed a pension bill for elected officials which included Tinubu.
Under the bill, Lagos is saddled with maintaining Tinubu for the rest of his life on the prevailing full salary a sitting governor is entitled to.
The pension bill for Tinubu also includes choice properties bought and paid for by the state in Abuja, Lagos and abroad.
Tinubu also has the choice of 5 executive cars to be replaced every 5yrs.
Recall also that Tinubu is on record to be the only elected governor in the history of modern democracy to have had 4 deputies in 8yrs!
The man is a rotten egg who spear headed corruption in Nigeria to new levels and the financial bankruptcy of acn states under his leprosy grip is evidence of his systematic kleptomaniac.

Listen to what Dr Goodluck Jonathan has to say about Jagaban the slayer of PDP

former President Goodluck Jonathan felicitated with Mr Tinubu whom he described as a patriot and political leader who has contributed so much to the growth of the nation’s democracy.

“As a patriot, politician and leader, you have contributed so much to the advancement of our nation’s democracy and nurtured many individuals to greatness. I wish you more years of sound health, peace and glory, as you celebrate. Happy birthday, Your Excellency,” Mr Johnathan said, through his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze.
