You're just ignorant of how the rail projects work.
It's not about PDP or APC.

Remember, these projects are not funded by Buhari's FG.
The Chinese govt finances them directly from Beijing so, what will make them delay?
China is not known to abandon projects.

The Ajaokuta - Itakpe - Warri line was over 75% completed when GEJ left office.
Chinese CCEC were still working when Buhari/Amaechi took over in 2015.

The Abuja - Kaduna line was nearly 100% completed when GEJ left office.
The only remaining thing Amaechi did was the completion of the Idu terminal which the Catholic Church filed a law
suit against FG for forcefully taking over their land.

GEJ started the Kaduna - Abuja line in 2011 and by December 2015 it was fully completed. The Chinese govt did not delay
that project. The project did not last 10yrs, you lied. GEJ also started the Ajaokuta - Itakpe - Warri line in 2013. It's been completed
since 2018. China does not unnecessarily delay projects.

.

you are just a pathetic looser
we don't care about this your baseless assessment up there, kos it's obvious that they're all just assertions....70% this,75% that is nothing bt mere curious assertions....

Nigeria projects is being funded by beijing...fool,so Nigeria will not pay bck abi

God bless Baba buhari and amaechi for this project completion...we are expecting more

Was it Buhari/APC that brokered the Chinese deal?
Lol ... some of you are just laughable, I swear !
I guess you guys only started following FG activities when Buhari became president.

See, the deal with China was brokered 100% by previous PDP govts (precisely OBJ & GEJ)
Buhari did not know anything about how all these projects were negotiated.

The entire Lagos - Kano stretch was divided into phase as follows:
Abuja - Kaduna ( completed )
Lagos - Ibadan ( almost completed )
Kaduna - Kano ( next-in-line )
Ibadan - Abuja ( future project )

.
Stop being petty.

That won't be wrong too. It's just like a house built with mortgage. It doesn't become yours until you've fully amortised.
What makes dis more true is China is providing 85% of the funding which means paying it back will outlast dis current admin. So till it's fully paid, it's Chinese built. Argue with Zambia

Our brain has been weakened to reason logically due to the hardship and corruption news in Nigeria overtime.. We praise government for completing a project, that normally, we are supposed to see 20 of it completed at the same time... 1 project, 19 syphoned.

Was it their money or their father's money?

In government, you live and die by results.

PDP had 16 years. Why referencing GEJ alone? Based on the timings you have up there, 16 years should have fixed the entire rail network.

OBJ did not really place Railway construction as his priority although towards the end of his tenure in 2007 he tried to award contract for the Lagos - Kano line which the Yar'Adua govt cancelled. OBJ's priority was on electricity generation. During his tenure about nine power generation plants in Omotosho, Odukpani, Papalanto, Geregu, Alaoji, Egbema, Olorunsogo, Sapele etc were being constructed simultaneously

The GEJ govt dismantled the gigantic Lagos - Kano line into four phases while working out a funding arrangement with China. The agreement was for the Nigerian govt to pay 15% for each phase upfront while China provides the balance as loans. It started with the Abuja - Kaduna, then followed by Lagos - Ibadan and so on until the entire Lagos - Kano is completed before 2030.

The old line they started building in the 80's was over the years vandalised.

CCECC had to start afresh

Bros at $100 per barrel, debt forgiveness I am entitled to question results in the PDP era. The power plants you speak about were constructed but what about transmission. Many of the equiptment at the port could not be evacuated for years because simple things like road expansion and bridge expansion were not done. It was a project failure on a colossal scale. I would let everything pass if not that during that period I kept shouting across all social media that our population growth at 3% required massive infrastructure to unlock the energy and creativity of the nigerian people. I also pointed out that oil earnings from that period would never be repeated. It was a last chance yo avoid where we are now.

Instead of fighting PDP vs APC on who started the project.

Why is Nigeria paying Chinese billions of dollars to do what a small Nigerian engineering company can do themselves?

The types of machinery for laying the train tracks come from Austria, Nigeria produces engineers of all calibre that can design and operate the track deployments.

Nigeria must look beyond oil export and focus on Natural Gas, Petrol Chemical, Fertiliser, Methanol, Bitumen and Refine oil export.

The Netherland and Qatar earn more money from exporting industries oil by-products than crude oil. The country should focus on reviving the four refineries and developing the large bitumen deposits in Ondo state.

OBJ inherited oil price at $22 per barrel. The price fluctuated below $30 throughout his first term.
The upward trend actually kicked in in his second term.

Still OBJ and GEJ developed Abuja to what it is today. If you ever visited Abuja in 1998, you would understand the difference.
The numerous massive expressways, new cities and estates you see in Abuja today are the handiwork of OBJ and GEJ in particular.
Kudos to their FCT ministers El-Rufa and Bala Muhammed who incidentally are now governors of Kaduna and Bauchi respectively

Besides paying off our debts to secure debt forgiveness, OBJ implemented a 100% increase in minimum wage from #3,500 - #7,500.
GEJ did a 150% increase from #7,500 to #18,000. Yar'Adua's 3yrs unfortunately was a period of the global meltdown (you remember?)
All PDP leaders also wasted so much money subsidising petroleum products.

So, the different past governments had their different challenges. Oil fluctuated around $80 - $104 only from 2012 to mid 2014. It was never so throughout PDP's 16yrs. OBJ sold crude oil for less than $30 throughout his first term.

What you say is true and already overseas remittances from Nigerians in diaspora have already exceeded crude oil proceeds. However the once in a "lifetime gift" of high oil prices would have provided investment in all the areas you mention. Everything you have mentioned comes with a price tag. To make it worse our "youth bulge" challenge means the time to market for any of these assets you mentioned, effectively sacrifices an entire generation of youth.

I point out these things not be way of simply blaming a period of administration on Nigeria, but rather that as a nation we may fully appreciate where we are, how we got there and the effort and time it will take to extricate ourselves. Once we understand this, we will be able to resist the false promises of politicians and look instead to creating a new paradigm. It will mean upskiling, retooling and retraining a generation who wanted to work in a "big company " and it will mean being patient with the necessarybrollnoutbof infrastructure. Without coming to this point, politicians will seize their day with false promises of a quick and painless turnaround.

Sorry an OBJ $30 dollars to the barrel is not quite the same as a PMB $30 dollar to the barrel.

Secondly you speak about the development of Abuja as if it were an economic asset. It isnt, never will be. Abuja's expansion is a symptom of the priority problem Nigeria has. While Abuja was bring beautified, the ports and airports were crumbling, manufacturing output was plummeting and services income which basically consisted of paper money skyrocketed. The returns we see today in property are essentially the reality of our true growth rate which is at max 3%. This was a false economy that ran off statutory allocations.

Now the bottom has dropped out and 70% of the population consisting of young Nigerians is picking up the tab.

Oil has already delivered its gift to Nigeria see the quoted section below, we need to stop asking for more.

I recall Idiagbon saying there will never be another oil boom in 1984, at that time oil price fell to $10 per barrel, Nigeria waited for 20 years doing nothing until 2006 when the price of oil hit $60 p/b and still did nothing with the money, it's obvious that oil renting is the cause of our poverty and corruption.

Now that there is no oil money, I will like to see the president and governors next actions.

Oil has built Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Kaduna and many modern capital cities across the country, over a hundred government own universities, ports, roads, rails refineries, steel plants, petrochemical plants, fertilizers and aluminium smelter plants. Nigeria is the only African country with four major oil industrial cities, in Onne, Bonny island, Lekki\Dangote and Escravos. The country has more than enough infrastructure to industrialised.

I disagree. Oil even after vovid continues to have an important role to play in financing diversification. With 3% growth rate and an implied devaluation of 7% per annum on the naira, the truth is that the country must dollarize. Without oil providing a floor for dollarization where is the growth going to come from. Yes we know we should diversify. But do the Nigeriannpopulation understand the pains of foing that without even the lowest of oil revenues? Many people cant even bear the pain of sitting at home for 14 days - are these the people that will manage economic shock?

You need to apply reality. It is not those that have sqiirreled away money that will be inconvenienced by no oil, they have already prepared for this day. It is those that ho to local schools, take out mortgages, go to local hospitals. This group will suffer untold casualties.

What you should be talking about is a change of mentality. When Professor Dr Awojobi began producing indigenous medical equiptment - who opposed him? The nigerian medical association. Until the mindset changes imports will continue to dominate even at extraordinary prices. The adjustment you are seeking ( and which is necessary) will come at a price of epic proportions

The reality is that Nigerian will have to be forced to change. The impoverish Nigerian and the middle clash enabled corruption and incompetence leadership, they are willing partners in the selection of corrupt government officials. Poverty and ignorance cannot be used as an excuse.

The mindset will never change until it is forced to change. Nigeria were willing participants in the selling of slaves until they were forced to stop by the British. Nigerian will continue looting until there nothing to sell. COVID-19 and low oil price might be a blessing as Nigeria will face the reality that their government is helpless and hopeless.
