The US Government has suspended all types of immigrant visas or visas that might lead to permanent residences for Nigerians. K1 visa is one of those visa types that leads to permanent residency so as of today, Nigerians are unable to apply for those.

Getting a visa for the sole purpose of childbirth has also been restricted. Goodluck.

Not completely true.

Yes, the US has suspended the immigrant visa for Nigerians but some are still getting approved under the conditions of being granted a waiver.

Correct. We still receive Nigerian patients in El Paso although significantly less than before the new rules. It is my understanding that they all have legitimately applied for a visa for purposes other than maternity. Most seem to have had Visa before they were pregnant.

Just looked at my fly delta app and realised my trip is meant to be in exactly 30 days time.
I booked this flight in january when everything was sane and okay. As at today I cannot tell if this trip can be made or not.

lol. I actually find it funny but real. Just when you have been happy you crossed the B2 Visa hurdle just before the ban then life throws another thing at you.

Oh well. God's will be done

Many people are in same corner with you. Just relax and wait it out. Its not gonna be easy but you will be fine after all this. We here sef dey quarantine and its not funny. It's not even safe flying for so long with people you know might likely have the covid91.

Just curious. Does anybody know if the US is gonna enforce the 6month overstay rules in light of this COVID-19 pandemic as a lot of people are stuck in the US at the moment and can’t get back to Nigeria as airspace has been shut for all flights. I keep wondering if they made any provisions for this.

No provisions, no money, no help for foreigners or tourists, for anybody who is not a citizen or a legal resident. If there are no flights and it's impossible to fly back to your country, keep all copies about it and it will help in the future to give you the next visa or to renovate visa because staying longer or overstaying is not your fault, Ask your family or friends from your country to send you money for food and lodging, get together with people in similar situation, it's all you can do. The people is staying away and won't give you a job or a place to stay, nobody wants to get sick.

Get together and go to your embassy. It's your government who should help.

Where in my previous post did I mention money or financial help? And FYI I’m not in that situation, I simply asked the question because I was curious and also for people who might be needing that info. But thanks for the answer though. I’m sure it’s helpful for people who might need it.

If you are a Nigerian citizen and you want to return to Nigeria, head to the nearest Nigerian Embassy and make your requests known.

I wouldn't advise this though. Stay where you are for your safety and that of the baby especially. We heard the story of the lady that came in with her baby. My two cents.

I will advice you to contact USCIS to confirm what measures they have in place rather than just winging it and hope when you reapply it doesn’t count it against you.

I expect you may need to file form I-539 to extend the validity of your stay.

Very good advice. And keep your email copy even if they don't answer, it will be your evidence you tried to be correct.

Thanks for your answer. I live in the US, was just asking because of people who might be in that situation - I was curious about what would become of people like that as being stuck in the US isn’t their fault in this case

start planning to extend your visa based on the current situation. you have 45 days before your current 6months expires to do so.

Good for you, being a Nigerian and worrying about your people. You can do better than just being curious in this forum, please, offer to Nigerians stranded in US food, shelter and rides (transportation).

Thank you o! I deliberately put that person on ignore because I don’t have energy to go back and forth and I could see the font was deliberately being obtuse, pretending not to understand my post and possibly looking for who to fight with.

Offer food and accommodation because I’m running a shelter in my home abi? cheesy cheesy

Are you insane? Who is attacking here? It's what we all Americans do, we help each other here. Unfortunately now during this virus times, we don't help foreigners just because we don't know them and people here doesn't trust Nigerians, but this lady is a Nigerian living in US, she knows her people. I think now in these hard times Nigerians living in US should help Nigerians stranded here. It's a reasonable HUMAN request.

And you go to your Buhari and claim there.
