Hello wise ones I greet u all.

I have about 20 million naira which is a combination of both principal and interest from repeated investment in treasury bill during the gud old days until rates went dust. Since then I’ve refused to put it in again.

With the current economic down turn of the country with this corona virus, how do you suggest I invest this money to be sure I ride above inflation?

This fund is for zero risk investments so it can’t go into real estate or business.

Initially, I wanted to lock it down in a 10 to 30 years fgn bond at 14.85%. This bond was announced early January. I’ve discussed with Stanbic stockbrokers and they’ve opened my cscs account, and insisted I can only buy from secondary market (at 11% to 13%) since minimum amount for primary is 50 million.

However, suddenly I’ve even lost faith in this federal government. Naira is on free fall, federal government so broke that its wants to deep hands into pension funds to build infrastructure and borrowing Nigeria to death.

I need help and suggestions of how to invest this. As well as Eurobonds with good rates. If you were in my shoes, what will u do? Thank you.

For me as an individual if I have such money I will invest as follows:
65% dollar-based fund
20% guaranteed income fund - VGIF
15% shared between GTBank and Zenith Bank shares at the current market prices
However if the money must be strictly fixed income base investment. I simply do dollar 80% and VGIF 20%
With the present economic situation, investors should pick investment windows that are flexible ie easy entry and exit without loss.

I am all ears as regards the suggestions on the dollar fund here.

I’ve also gone to the Eurobond thread as instructed.

Waiting to hear from you. Thank you

Hello House! Can one still do a Top-up on Stanbic Ibtc MMF before 12pm tomorrow and will it reflect?

I don't know whether the Lagos Shutdown affects them or not.

Thanks!

All over the world the stock exchange remain a viable investment window to create wealth and the market is always in a circle of up and down or bull and bear. Nigeria is not an exception.

Pls help me

I made a redemption of my investment in Arm money market fund on 25th March, 2020. I got a redemption notification on 26th March, 2020 but my account has not been credited and my dashboard is showing 0.00. My accrued interest is showing zero too which is not supposed to be.
Is this how they normally do?

Though I'm not with ARM Investment, fund managers operation are similar across board . I'm sure you will be credited. From your explanation the transaction is posted already. Your account will be credited. Though most fund managers credit clients account within 24hrs but the usual official period of redemption as it's always stated on the facts of the fund is 3 working days. However, you can called them on 01 271 5000 to know exactly the position of things.

Can one someone please advise me on what to do now.

I needed to open a stanbic ibtc mmf account. I sent the documents online by mail to one of the sales executives. Thereafter, she sent me an E account number. Then, I asked for my account online login details, she told me it is only when I make deposit quoting my E account number that I will be given a login details. Then I sent a 100k since yesterday to the pool account. Then I informed her about my payment. She assured me that it will be processed. But since yesterday I made the payment, I have not heard from her again. I have sent her mails but no response like before. How many days does it take for one to get login details.

Please your advice is needed.

Thanks...

You are very anxious which is ok as a beginner. However, if you did the things below you do not need be worried.

* When transferring the money to the pool accout you included your e- accout no right?

* Does your transfer has a receipt/proof of transfer?

* Did you receive any email notifying of your payment/subscription to MMF from SIAML?

If all the above or even the first 2 are ok then you need not worry. Login details from them sometimes does not come instantly but I believe they will send it to you once it is ready.

Thank you very much Mr Freeman...

Well,
I used the e -account number and I also have a receipt of the transaction. But there has not been any notification from them that my payment has been received by them.

I only sent the receipt to the lady through mail and she confirmed to have received my mail and told me same will be processed. I was only thinking it's a 24hours thing....

To investors of MMF
1.Rate is low but your money is secured, so do not follow the bandwagon to invest in products where your principal is not even guaranteed. The low rate can still be reversed in the future.

2. Beware of Digital agriculture, their rates are good but you don't even know the characters behind the scheme. Absence of proper regulations ensure the proliferation of many schemes geared towards fleecing the unsuspecting investors. Few could have good intentions and founded on strong business principles, your part is to carryout due diligence.

3. Is stock market for you? Stock is good if only you can thread on the dangerous water of the market. Do not jump into based on the present uprise of the stock prices, the gain can reverse within short time. Trade on stocks with sound knowledge. The entry point price matters alot. For novice in stock trading, enter when the prices are relatively low and buy only stocks with strong fundamental with annual dividend payouts. Do not become cheap meat for Big dogs.

I penned this January this year.

I wish to make an adjustment on point number 3.

Now is the best time to enter the stock. Stocks are really low on price and presents good investment opportunities. You can pick some good coys now and bail out when you achieve your investment goal. One good thing is chances of loosing money is low because you are buying at bargain.

Equity based funds is more or less investing in stocks directly. Whatever state the NSE is ie bearish or Bullish affects d funds directly. At this time d best bet is to buy the stocks directly since the risk will be bear by you either way.

Of course your thought is right going by the normal investment cycles. If you are not risk averse, it's good to buy now. check my signature to get my contact and get the link to open a stockbroking account at the comfort of your home. If you do, by next week you can start buying stocks.

Hello Nairalanders, please I need advise in investing my money. I have some money, about 2,750,000 naira I would love to investing for a 6months duration (till October).
I have done researchs about treasury bill and fixed deposit ,but i can't decide on which to go with. Treasury bill are currently at an interest rate of 3.2% but I don know of interest of bank. I would love to get an interest of 10% for a 6months duration, I don know if that would realistic in our current economy.
Please if could get advice on the best rate I could get on my cash ( #2,750,000) be it treasury bill, fixed deposit or any, I would really appreciate it. ....... Also I would love to know if anyone could confirm if " WEALTH.NG" is real as I saw and intrest of 10% on a 180day treasury bill investment. Thanks in advance...!!!!
