Good effort.

The only error I see is that he is not wearing gloves or a mask.

Guy can go for small chops, piss, 'quickie'....then come back and use same hands on what you will wear on your face.

Purpose of these items then becomes defeated.

Here's Aba-made face masks, quite impressive. Without any iota of sentiment, the South-Eastern region of Nigeria has the human resouce capacity and the potentials to become the industrial hub of the Nation. Just that there are some internal issues such as sociopolitical disparities and other wailing challenges in the region.

However, Weldone...

Analytically, the only way for Nigeria to actualize a higher PPP (purchasing power parity) in the international market is to reduce importation and increase the production of certain competitive products... Our devalued Naira can regain its strength in the course.

Though many scholars could argue that those Aba-made products are substandard as compared to the foreign ones. But the closest answer to that is that; "Rome wasn't built in a day..." There's always room for improvement.

Remember the days of China Phones, now they have improved. And y'all know!

We need to start appreciating our local content products in Nigeria...

Govt should instead give them more support

No they don't need government support until they can prove the business is worth investing on.
let them sell 2m piece first after covidna, then we shall see if it worth supporting them with money or machinery

Expecting them to prove the business is like praying for the coronavirus not to go again.

Or?

And btw, there are other things they are capable of doing that needs govt support

Only an irresponsible government will ignore the local production industry in preference for continued importation...

Most of what we import can and should be locally produced.... We should even be exporting to other nations.

The Igboman never gives up. Every challenging situation is an opportunity for him to finding solutions and cashing out. Their ingenuity is second to none in Africa. Just as the Biafran war was an opportunity for them to express their inborn inventive skills through the weapons they developed indigenously, the military era became an opportunity for them to offer Nigerians alternative and cheaper products, which was popularly known Aba Made.

The quality may be in doubt, but give it to them, they always make effort to improve their situation, while others spend their time complaining about their situation without any effort.

your government will rather spend billions importing same substandard face mask from China... Nigeria is not ready for development, the world might come to an end with Nigeria remaining underdeveloped.

My point exactly not sterile
Leopantro:
Much as I admire your ingenuity note that the white filter on a face mask acts as a sponge, catching and soaking up particles in the air.
As well as dirts in the hands of that person placing his fingers on it as he sews it in that picture. He needs to at least wear gloves while making it.
