Boko Haram: Why Buhari Can’t Lead Our Troops Like Chadian President– Tony Momoh by nairavsdollars(op): 6:20pm On Apr 07, 2020
By Temidayo Akinsuyi

A former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh on Tuesday said it is unnecessary for President Muhammadu Buhari to lead Nigeria’s military in an offensive against Boko Haram terrorists like Chadian President, Idriss Deby.

Following the success recorded by the Chadian army, many Nigerians have challenged President Buhari to live up to his calling as a retired Army General and emulate Deby, saying this will motivate the Nigerian troops and boost their morale in the war against insurgency.

However, speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Momoh, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said as Commander-in- Chief of the armed forces, Buhari doesn’t need to lead the troops as he can monitor the military from anywhere he was.

“Every country has its own priorities. The fact that President Deby led Chadian troops to fight Boko Haram doesn’t mean he is at the war front and shooting guns. He was in the helicopter following them from place to place and they dealt with Boko Haram”.

“Buhari doesn’t have to follow our troops; he can monitor them from wherever he is. What do you people take Nigeria for? Look at the army, we have the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs who head different operations; we also have commanders of different sectors. Which of them will Buhari lead if he wants to go and confront Boko Haram?”

“The fact is that Buhari is the Commander-in-Chief and he can monitor our military wherever he is. Why should he go and lead the war himself? Is it because he was a military president? What if he is a civilian president? Will go and wear uniform and start lerading the army?”

“Are you saying President Buhari should copy President Deby? Do you know the population of Chad? Boko Haram has been attacking Nigeria from Chad but when they now attacked Chadian army, the President
led the Chadian army to tackle them.”

“Chadian army is a well-trained army in guerilla warfare. They have been fighting insurgency for years. There was a time they even entered Nigeria when Buhari was there in the early 80s but he drove them to Ndjamena before they stopped him.”

“So, Chadian army is a very hardened army, well groomed in desert and guerilla warfare. Chad also spent more money on arms and ammunition than any other challenges they have”, he said.

According to Tony Momoh "chadian army are very well trained and groomed in guerilla/desert warfare" so is he trying to say they are stronger than our army?

Insult you can only make.

You can't constructively criticise what he said.

Even America with the whole Military hardware's will not take it's president for a raid.

This one na talk? Honestly, the IQs of some of our so called statesmen in Nigeria are just terrible.
Trust me, yours is worst.

Cos if you were just at average, you could have constructively criticise what he said to make us agree he has a low IQ.

By his statement and yours, you definitely have a lower IQ

He can monitor our troop from anywhere, then why is he sleeping and taking pictures just to prove he is still alive while Boko haram kill our soldiers for fun? Old men that have lost respect because of stolen money that Buhari keeps sending their ways.

No cogent reason. I thought he had a point but nay! I thank God this is not the sitting of the Supreme Court that heard the review of Bayelsa Guber judgement, Momoh would have been fined up to N30m and the money distributed immediately to all BVN.

Momoh should tell us that Buhari not leading the offensive against Boko Haram is a matter of "style".

2. That Buhari does not trust his men otherwise he will be the first casualty.

3. That Boko Haram has infiltrated the Nigeria security from top to bottom and has access to all issues related to their activities.

4. That so many people up north are benefitting from the fight and hence he has to let the status quo remain

I don't need to read the write up because I know why already.

Because he's a vegetable.

Tony Momoh abi Tony Mumu is still taking rubbish. The Chadian army conducted a full scale assault on Boko Haram within Nigeria's territory o for those who don't know. Conducted it successfully and even released some Nigerian soldiers Boko Haram had kept aside for beheading in their grim videos. All these and Tony Mumu is making a case for a vegetable.

Do you know Buhari may even be dead?

There is no way you can defend Buhari and APC's failure without sounding dumb. These dudes disappointed everyone who believed in them back in 2015.

This man here claims Deby was in a helicopter flying above the troops... what's stopping Buhari from flying in a helicopter hovering above his own troops?

Nigeria has been fighting BH since 2009 and the fighting intensified around 2012. That is between eight and 11 years. (For comparison, World War II was fought for six years and that was more than enough time for nations to build new weapons.)

That time was enough for us to have prepped up our army.

And before you APC rugrats start ranting about how PDP messed up, remember that PDP fought BH for three years while APC fought them for five. So, that excuse wouldn't fly.

The last statement he made sums everything up: "Chad also spent more money on arms and ammunition than any other challenges they have”, he said."

PDP was bad but APC is worse.

He is dull, incompetent and lifeless.

I never believed we can have a president that we have to beg, before he come to address us. This man keep proving those that doesn't support him from the beginning right everyday.

I never thought anyone could be worse than Jonathan, as clueless as he was.
