Lockdown: Abia Government Gives 7-Day Extension by Metrix147: 7:58pm On Apr 07, 2020
The Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has approved the extension the state-wide lockdown by seven days to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

This extension in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem made available to ABN TV, will take effect from Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

The state government said the extension is necessary to confirm that the state is indeed free of the virus, explaining that the normal incubation period for the virus is 14 days.

The governor also expressed regret over the inconveniences and hardship the people face over the lockdown, saying it is for the betterment of the people of the State.

"Government is aware of the hardship and inconvenience this situation has brought upon our people. But it is better to live with temporary inconvenience than to expose ourselves to this disease in search of comfort.

"The NCDC is still tracking over 2000 suspected cases across the country. While these persons are not from Abia, this is a time that calls for extra vigilance.

"Within this period, Government will continue to distribute some food items, sanitizers and face masks which commenced officially today".

He also urged the various bodies in charge of the enforcement of the lockdown to continue to ensure that no chances are left for the disease to be imported into the state.

"Government hereby directs all the various enforcement teams at the State and Local Government levels as well as all security agencies to continue the enforcement of the directives on lockdown at the borders, markets, Transport operators, Religious Groups and all forms of public gathering.

"Transition Committee Chairmen of Local Government Areas and Security Operatives are directed to remain vigilant.

Who is going to sit down and let someone do their hair after this media driven hysteria.
Please let me wake up from this twilight zone episode. Don’t you dare go overboard on extension of stay at home order. Be realistic! People need to get back to life and work.. we can’t be held prisoners much longer! Stay in line with Federal guidelines! 5G is killing them. And alot of us will go with so called cure. Elderly will be wiped out. First. Then people that won't take bill gates injection. God bless you all.
I have several friends that are nurses abroad and they are changing all deaths right now to the virus regardless of how they died!
I have been saying this forever. most of the people dying of coronavirus were already very sick. States Government are using these fake numbers to try and get the FG to give them more money

anyways Models are models only as good as the inputs and assumptions.
We took worst case scenario numbers to scare everyone silly.
Just like catastrophic man made climate change...

duh, of course it's coronavirus..... but some will try to drag this out as long as they can, I wonder why? Its amazing how people are so quick to give up their freedoms for what they perceive as a little bit of safety. No kidding. Need to investigate states saying they have coronavirus deaths by including people who died from other causes. To get more stimulus money. Not right. whole thing was blown out of proportion. Have to wonder why the media incited panic? Was it to make us more afraid of the tightly knit machine

Its bad o. If this extension continues and the masses welfare isn't considered, people may resort to looting shops just to survive.
Hunger is worst than this virus.

You obviously dont know what is going on.

You can all pack yourselves on the streets if you want. When it reaches the Italy situation no one will force you to sit at home. Afterall, Nigerians like their lives.

How many days have they (Abia) done so far? As for LAGOS, theirs can't be extended because they have done 5 days from @gov of Lagos State and again 14 days of buhari own.
