Thanks so much....Even an insane person will want to test drive a Naija used car before buying... Useless and shady policy from them!!!

Tufiaka..

exactly the reason prospective buyer shldnt even buy

isnt that common sense?

u cannot force a company to change its policy.....u cant also force ur own policy down their throat

but

u can simply decide not to buy once it is ascertained that u cant testdrive

me,I cant even buy toks without driving it well talkless if naija used

Absolutely.

I try all my best to tell people that I know to not even have cars45 as an option. It is a graveyard of junk cars. And I recently found out the human beings that work there too are junks (like the helpishere werey above).

One of the things that I find very funny is that we fail to get the picture of the setup. They buy the car as it is, that is,as the seller brought it to them. No modifications, just trusting in their ability to sell the junks that we have turned our cars into. If the car you are selling is half dead to be on the road, then the buyer is expecting a no issue naija used car, then clap for yourselves.

Let me for a moment accept you explanation...:

So what justifies the price mark up after buying the car at a marked down price?!

U see a Nigerian used car, after looking at it you say it has x,y and z problems, therefore you can only buy it N1. After buying, you don’t do anything on the car, just put it up for sale at N10, knowing full well that x,y and z haven’t been fixed.

Yet you feel it is justified!??

I believe that you are a mechanic. If you buy parts and engine oil for your customer with your money, will you give it to him at the same price? Now a customer came with a car to you and you buy for 500k, will you sell it for 1m if the car is worth 2m? Mind you, you have taken a risk in buying it and you have created a platform to sell it and your cost of funds and overhead will be captured in the price, are you going to sell for 700k and say let me just collect 200k as profit? What about the cost of risk? I read a range Rover thread where there was an lr3 for 781k, as an expert, how much did they buy the car in your own estimation and how much is an lr3 worth in the market today? And there are reviews on the car, engine, gear and suspension and due diligence for the documentation. How much will you sell the junk car?

If you two this line with me, you will get lost.

So, in other words. Cars45 buys a car for N250K services it with Mobil XHP (if the actually do), checks that the custom papers are complete. Then put up for sale at 1.2M because they took a risk....??

Without fixing any of the things for which they bought the car at N250K??

So that is how you sell your range Rover cars that you buy as junk and you sell at huge profits? Was the mobil xhp not the oil junk cars uses? Abi they should use Castrol oil for naija used cars that the owners have been using sae 40 or seahorse to service? I was thinking that you should be part of the team that would advise motorists not to use obsolete oil to service their cars because someone else will buy their carelessness tomorrow at a higher cost.

Guy, the inflated price for the car will only be justified if the car had been fixed with no issues. Otherwise, its complete fraud to sell a worthless vehicle at an inflated rate

Let me come in here. They used to fix the cars before selling. We had a group of professionals who were selected based on their speciality. I was selected to fix range rover cars in Lagos and others too on their specs. When I saw the cars that they were buying to sell, I told them to be careful when buying range rover from people because the amount to fix it will make selling to be outrageous. Like one of the cars that we fixed for 600k, how much will they now sell it? There was a 2006 salmama that I overhauled the engine and other things for 600k and the owner was desperate for money and she took it to carbazz after waiting for 5 months and no buyer. They bought the car for 750k and I was wondering who will buy salmama for 1m? Even ladipo are reluctant to buy for demolition. Cars 45 has good intentions but our 9ja used cars na war.

E Pa, I know your story with them. But don't defend something you cannot justify. If they bought an LR3 for N250K, fixed for 500K (car is in good condtion) and sold for N1.2M. Nobody will open a thread to complain...

If nobody knows you at least know what I do with these cars....!

If dey are at loss, they should ask questions, maybe they should open a demolition yard. I will patronize them.

I swear, if the open a junk yard, I go line up first. grin
However, ive seen one of the cars they put up for sale on the road now doing quite alright. I don't know how much the new owner invested in it but car looks alright. Not smoking and gear shifts sounds quite alright.
Some people may get lucky but seems like most get the wrong end of the stick. I think test drives will go a long way in solving a lot of their problems.

I once went to Berger to inspect a range rover sport for a client that wanted to buy. We were allowed to start it and scan it but my scanner battery died when I got there. The car was from Germany and they falsified the original car documents to Switzerland. They adjusted the mileage from 282000 to 82000 kilometers. We paid 7m for it but the car was very clean and OK. The mileage was discovered when we used the oem scanner. That said, we have unscrupulous people in every sector. If they allow test drive, then they will employ extra staff with security to accompany the car for the ride. There was in the news of a guy who took a Porsche for a test drive and drove away with the car. That would now be a common story with the junk cars. Even the previous owners can organize to steal it in the guise of test driving it. They also have a policy of bringing your own mechanic to inspect the car on your behalf. Let's move on and encourage others to come up with a better solution of taking care of our junk naija used cars off our roads.

All I can see on this thread are people who can't take responsibility for their actions. No one here has proven the Cars45 did anything wrong (produce facts, not she said, they said). Everyone is busy acting on emotions without applying logic.

The disclaimer, conditions or warnings by Cars45 were pretty clear. Yet, people ignored them and now looking for who to blame. How much will it cost you to pay an expert on the brand/vehicle you are interested in, for him to do the inspection and recommend to buy or walk away, based on his findings? Is it too much to pay 5k - 50k to an expert to protect and prevent you from losing your hundreds of thousands or millions of naira in buying abused vehicle? If you don't know how to interpret inspection reports from Cars45 on vehicles at their stands, why didn't you engage someone who can interpret and confirm the reports are accurate based on his own findings after his own inspection, even if you have to pay a small fee to the person than risking your hundreds or millions of naira?

You purchased a Nigerian used car and the vehicle Engine overheated days after and you are blaming the seller? Really? You think tokunbo vehicles don't break down too? Even if the issue was there before the purchase, were you not supposed to detect it before purchase? You mean vehicle has to be driven before an Overheating issue shows it's head?

Anyone can tag any amount he/she wants to sale a vehicle for. Heck, you can tag a used car price of a brand new vehicle of that same model. It's up to you to buy or walk away. An individual or company can choose to tag an abused dead vehicle same amount with clean non abused car. You have so many options of where to source and buy that same vehicle model, even a cleaner one at cheaper price. Capitalism allows it and Nigeria doesn't practice communism (at least on paper), so it's not illegal. Bitch1ng about it makes you illogical in your thinking and entitled like the world owes you.

Like I titled one of my articles, "EVERY NIGERIAN IS A SCAMMER, UNTIL HE PROVES OTHERWISE", it doesn't mean Cars45 is a saint. It's up to them to prove themselves to you. Not every one that patronized or bought vehicles from the Cars45 is online blaming them. Some, must likely, are enjoying the vehicles they bought from them or through their adverts. Probably because they applied logic and got vehicles that are serving them at prices they were comfortable with and the vehicles in conditions they were ok with before purchase.

If Cars45 vehicles are too pricey, find other dealers or places you can source vehicles cheaper. If you don't want to pay someone that understands vehicle systems more than you do to inspect and recommend a non abused clean vehicle at their stands for you, then be adult enough to deal or live with consequences of your choices. If you don't want a car that will break down or have some issues to sort out after purchase, don't buy a Nigerian used vehicle (better still, buy a brand new car).

Maybe what the thread starter claimed that the production year of the vehicle purchased was wrong, including factory Driving Position. But you didn't back up your claim with facts or evidence. So everyone must believe you because you said so? So if anyone comes online to accuse someone of something, the accuser must be telling the truth and everyone must believe the accuser with no evidence? This is someone's business you are talking about. Besides, why didn't you take an expert to inspect and confirm the true state of the car, including the true production year and factory Driving Position, since that option was allowed and even advised by the seller, when you don't know how to detect all that? It's very possible that the seller, dealer or Car45 actually lied to you about the vehicle, but you didn't prove they did in this thread.

It's sickening that majority of Nigerians are car killers. All those "supposed" scrappy vehicles at the Cars45 in Nigeria were driven, used & killed by Nigerians with all manners of abuse. There is no difference between the Nigerian used vehicles at Cars45 and other Nigerian used vehicles advertised by other Nigerians. They are all basically in same abused conditions and similar prices. Majority of Nigerian used vehicles advertised by Nigerians for sale are "PACKAGED" vehicles.

If you are not willing to risk throwing down the toilet your hundreds of thousands or millions of naira you intend to use to purchase a used vehicle in Nigeria, then spend 5k, 10k 20k, 30k or 50k to hire an expert or specialist in that vehicle brand to prevent you from losing that money by inspecting, interpreting and recommending a good vehicle to you. The specialist cannot/must not see every fault in/on the vehicle within the minutes he is allowed to check the car (even if test drive is not allowed), but he is capable than you to see or detect some major severe abuse or issues with the vehicle you wouldn't see that could give you nightmares if you make the purchase. He could do that because of his expert eyes, unlike non experts or normal car users that focus more on irrelevant things like mileage, first body, blah blah blah, when searching or checking out vehicles they interested to buy. Of course, you can do the inspection and purchase a vehicle yourself with your limited knowledge and end up with a good one. And you can also gamble and lose 500k - millions of naira because of 5 - 30k that feels too unreasonable for you to spend to prevent such huge loss. It's your choice, just like some people on this thread have experienced the sad outcomes.

Ikenna351, Lion King - Monk.
